Couple of updates;
Brand new JP4 cam covers, old ones had a slight leak and looked like they had been put on with a whole tube of sealant :panic: Spent about an hour cleaning all the old sealant off before fitting these. If my leak doesn't go away then it's the cam ladders because they look caked in sealant too! ![]() ![]() ![]() VTS gearbox ![]() ![]() Sale for the s1 box didn't go through, so i've been browsing ebay for a decent S box for a while, this one came up and it was only round the corner from me! Old fella selling it (turned out to be a detective inspector in the police :fcuk: ) said he bought it for his son's saxo and it was sitting in a box in his garage. Also interesting to note that the code is CN03 which is the same as a guy on ebay was saying was from a 53 plate S, so hopefully i've got a decent box here :y: Gave her a little clean too (first one since about october) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() That's all for now, should have some nice updates in the next couple of months ;) |
Saw you and Tufty pull out of the BP the other day. Both cars sounded immense! I need Supersprint in my life :( lol
How do you find the Billie GroupN's down the local lanes? Really harsh? |

oh yeah? you always seem to see us, come and say hello lol :homme: Billes are worth it when the roads are dry! Tbh i just tend to potter to work and back these days, haven't had much back-road fun in ages. Gotta be careful with potholes, it's a very firm ride lol. |

Im still going to get them fitted though :P Car looks really sweet in the pictures Dan :y: |

Anyway, thought i'd put a few pics up of the cage i bought off AlexB about a month ago; ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Can't find anyone "reputable" to fit it though so doubt i'll be getting it fitted too soon, got money to spend elsewhere first :( |
Been speaking to a company called SVG motorsport about fitting the cage, has anyone dealt with them before? Better yet can anyone recommend me a company that's fitted a cage like this to a saxo before?
|
I LOVE that cage !!!
Id Alex still had it in the summer I was tempted with it! All you'd really need is a company that can weld properly I would have thought? Never heard of them myself tbh |
Haha thought i'd snap it up at the price it was at :)
I've seen a few guys on here with full weld in cages, but can't seem to find much info on them other than that their "mates" did it :ponder: I tried contacting customcages but never got a reply. I might try and get in touch with the company who did Atspeed's 106 as it looks to be a good job :y: |
loving the car mate, done alot of work to it, spent alot of cash too, but well worth it by looking at it.
|
best bet is to look in the freeads for fabricating shops they will be shit hot welders or look for a mobile welder who can come to your house and do it
|
Why havnt you asked me to do it? Are you not impressed with my mine? :D

Riiight, been a while since i updated this, been accumulating a few bits 'n' bobs over the last couple of months, should be a fun car one day!
Quaife ATB from gmc, hopefully getting put in a refurbed vts box by mankee at some stage in the near-ish future :P ![]() Omex 600 from atspeed, got it in the group buy ![]() Saved the best til last, also from gmc... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() *** Apologies for the pathetic quality of the pictures  Anyway, more parts on the list are *Forged pistons + Rods *omex loom *GMC intercooler/rad *brackets, belts, filters etc for the charger *4-pot brakes (wilwood) *some sort of lightweight wheels with decent rubber * a lot of money for fitting + mapping Think thats about it, probably forgot a few things, need to do more research into cams and such first :p |
Very nice Dan! This will apeal to alot of people on here.
|
cheers man
|
EDIT - just seen the title :P
Looks awesome !!!! Can't wait to do mine - would love a picture of both of our cars together when both boosted !! |
haha cheers man, they do look very similar. I'm guessing you were asking what charger i went for? I had a chat with john about it and he reccomended the 74 for what i want out of the car :p
|
Let the cutting and welding commence. For the record, safety devices are shit. Every single bar needed some sort of modification to fit, been at it all week and i'm shattered!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pictures are in a muddled order but cba to organise them. The cage is fully finished now and the car's back home, just needs painting, but that can wait, had a 5 hour journey from pembrokeshire back to london so i'm off to bed. I'll upload some pics of the finished article later on :drink: |
cage looks pretty substantial !!!
look forward to seeing competed pictures ! |
Cheers Raunchz! Was a lot of efffort to get the bastard in but i'm glad it's done now, can concentrate on the charger next :P

Looks a hardcore cage !! Looking forward to the charger next, i'm slowly getting there with mine !!
It go through to the front suspension turrets ? What's it like to get in and out of? |
Nice progress thread fella just read the whole thing. Like where this is going! Keep up the good work.

It's not too bad getting in and out of, once you get a technique sorted out :P Looking for a runabout atm though so the sax can get some serious work done to it. Quote:
|
is this car used as a daily drive???
if some i bet you soon will get annoyed with the cage with door bars like that!! lol |
Quote:
I want to see that charger coming along now, get a bike and get the bitch off the road! :fcuk: |
Epic bit of progress m8 :clapping:
|
superb progress, makes me "NEED" to get out in the garage and get it sorted :) are you keeping the MA box when you fit the new bits on the engine or are you going to change to the BE conversion?
|
nice mate
|
cheers for the replies guys, lost a lot of interest in the car in the last few weeks, and to top everything off some pussy keyed all up the drivers side last week which was the icing on the cake.
Progress is officially on hold until i decide wether to contine or not... |
This car is quality keep up the good work mate
So so so similar to my own car, thinking of morettes myself! |
That cage is mental! Bet those door bars are a bastard when getting in and out
|

|
Ha cheers guys, yeah cage is sprayed up in matt black, i'll update the thread later with a few new pics and a bit of info later on when i get in from work. regained my interest in the car over the last week or so lol so things will be happening once again!

Right, car's been off the road for the last month or so, just been sorting a few bits and bobs out on it for the winter.
Found this under the fuse box in the engine bay ![]() ![]() So we cut it out! Got rid of all the shit rusty metal. ![]() ![]() So made a plate to fit the hole ![]() ![]() ![]() grinded it down, put a little skim of filler over it and primed it up, you'd never know it was there :y: Also had rust coming through between the rear arches and the boot floor on both sides, so same process, got rid of the shit rusty metal and put a new plate in. Only got 1 pic of the back but it gives you an idea of how bad it was! ![]() Anyway as of now, all 4 wheel arches are cleaned, de-rusted and fully undersealed, car is off the road, not driving it through shitty rain and grit again :homme: Got a few bits and bobs to do over the winter but gona hopefully start seeing some real progress once with weather gets a bit better and i've got a bit more cash coming in :y: |
