Aye suppose so, I'll make my judgement once I have seen them.

Whats happening with the Green R?

James 30th July 2008 22:02

At the moment it's out the back, dead in need of a new battery.

Hardly drive it anymore, infact I don't do much driving full stop.

Got it booked in my calender to get detailed in 2 weeks though after I get it back out of the bodyshop when bonnet and front bumper have been re-sprayed. Then hopefully someone will buy it :S

James 30th July 2008 22:10

Bit of paint;

1 coat of satin black laid down to give a nice base coat for the gloss black to go onto,

Couple of coats of gloss black,

It now has 2 more coats of Gloss Black on but it's a bit dark to get a photo in, came up pretty well after 4 coats. Just got to let the paint harden over night and in the afternoon tommorow I will add 3-4 coats of laquer wet sanding inbeetween coats.

Progress is looking awesome mate. It's certainly getting there. Gonna be a damn clean Mark 1 fo sho!

Cant believe you still have the green one, it first went up for sale ages ago. So suprised it aint gone tbh, it's an awesome car.

James 31st July 2008 15:24

Tar mate, aye it is getting there. At least progress has moved along slightley.

My problem is the other side, it's a fooking mess. Really not looking forward to tackling that to be honest lol, will get the ecu back in place today and the rocker cover back on. Then i'll hit the other side over the weekend I think, be good for a chuckle thats for sure.

jaybiss 31st July 2008 17:05

is this becoming a track car james?

not looking to shabby!

Steve 31st July 2008 17:51

Karl 31st July 2008 17:51

Saxy1 31st July 2008 19:05

Not sure yet, just want to make it as nice as possible with spending as little money as possible. :)

Is going to the ring though hopefully.

Karl 31st July 2008 23:02

For the fact it's gonna be worth nothing in the real world.
Might aswell keep it, looks a dead smart motor!

James 31st July 2008 23:06

Only paid a grand for it lol, arn't going to complain.

Predator_R32 1st August 2008 00:45

coming along nicely james :y:

James 1st August 2008 09:14

Your right pred, it was the flux capacitor bit you mentioned that I snapped lol

Cheers man :) alex said it's to stop interferance in your car as well though, i.e your radio when you turn lights on etc. I know in my green one, with my smoothed ariel the radio goes dead when i put lights on lol

cammedvtr 3rd August 2008 21:04

Saw the car on Sat and James is doing a lovley job...I'll let him drive it for a week then I'll show him how to drive it lol....

All jokes aside keep up the good work man...

Trying to hard repair sinkage marks with black paint is hard work, it will be much easier with silver paint mate, but i'll leave it to you to suprise me

James 4th August 2008 00:13

Thanks, but im finding it hard to motivate myself mate :(

I really do need to do that rocker cover propelly like I said to you but it's another tin of paint and another tin of laquer.

Still not decided what to do about that bar, silicone is a bit expensive for something were not going to see. :( meh

cammedvtr 4th August 2008 19:18

Just have a drive to B&Q next time your in Hull and see what they have, aslong as its rubber you can wash it down i guess...

Skorpion 4th August 2008 19:58

Doing a good job matey!

Similar to my budget! non-exsistant!

James 18th August 2008 13:57

righteo

Little update, got the other side in paint yesterday and started putting some bits back on today.

Other side in paint,

Plan now it to get it back in one piece with the help of Ash and get it running again.. take it for a drive up and down the private road a couple of hundred times... and then throw it into MOT.. laugh as it fails miserablly on emmisions and see what needs replacing if anything. This is after I service it..

Once anything broke is replaced I'll throw a standard exhuast on, standard manifold and standard induction and hope to fook it goes through. It scraped through last year.. this year it has not been run so hopefully that will help.

Sort brake cylinder out, paint other little bits and bobs.. heat wrap le fanny mould. Finish the strut brace that I started painting yesterday. Replace rusty bolts and hinges etc fit the kent cam sticker after re-painting the rocker cover again lol... buy new battery terminal screw thingy ma bobs.

Finally steam clean teh engine bay, and make it look all shiny and shit.

fuck me I have allot to do by next month :'(

Anyone want to place bets on what car I will be taking to the ring haha?

Yates 18th August 2008 14:06

craig180 18th August 2008 18:27

Looking forward to seeing this on the road mate.

James 28th August 2008 16:50

Right,

Massive thanks to Craig (saxo180), got a mark 1 zaust on now with the CAT in. Middle pipe is not attached but i'll explain to the MOT guy on monday that he might as well pass it because as soon as I get home i am putting the piper back on lol

Massive HUGE thanks to yates and mark51 for servicing it, was funny as fuck.

Dismantling my car though while i am driving it.... HARSH lol

Car is now up and running, ready for it's MOT on Monday morning.

Needs a new headlight but thats getting sorted saturday morning, *hopes to god it passes*

Plans for wheels = They will go gloss black when the tyres get replaced next week. Going for the stealth look. Mind is set up on this one now.. did a photoshop and it looked fooking sexual.

Major clean over the weekend with Ash as well (he does not know yet), so hopefully the detailing will go all well.

I can't wait to drive it down the lanes on Monday to the MOT centre... feel like a kid waiting for christmas lol

Luke 28th August 2008 16:56

About time mate ;) lol!

Glad you managed to get everything done on it. Is it going to make Germany this year then? This and Adamsax's are my favourite MK1s on here without a doubt, sure you'll look after it too mate.

What happens with Green one now?

James 28th August 2008 17:01

Don't know what I'll do with my green one... I have had it 4 years and in a gay kind of way I feel 'attached' to it. Fucking hate it but it's never let me down lol

We will have to wait and see I guess.

Do you wish you never split it now?

James 28th August 2008 17:09

Money was the only reason mate and I am so happy I did...

I'd still be piling money into it now if I never did. Reality check - Stop spending thousands of pounds on tin cans lol

craig180 28th August 2008 18:08

Black on black Mk1 will look sexual :y:

Can't wait to see pics of it on the 'Ring
