Whens the new bumper goin on? Got any pictures of it?

Andy_K 20th November 2008 22:41

Its like this one:

Just it doesn't have the indicator lamps in it. Not sure when its going on. Need a couple of days to spray it. Maybe over the xmas holidays

Ben 20th November 2008 22:47

That is nice! Gonna look sweet. I think you should sell it me when you get bored, px for my westy :P

Andy_K 20th November 2008 22:53

Ha ha!!! already got 2 saxo's sat on the drive. Think the neighbours would evict me if I got another!!!!!

Andy_K 25th November 2008 20:01

No updates as yet, but some good and bad news:

Good news:
I've ordered some more smoked side repeaters. Should be here by the weekend.
Also ordered some Focus RS style mudflaps to try and keep the car a bit cleaner during the winter months.
Also I have smoothed the towing eye cover off the new Reiger bumper ready for whenever I get it sprayed.

Bad News:
I am having more suspension troubles :( The rear drivers side shock absorber is leaking and needs replacing. Rear of the car has been knocking for around a week now, I thought it was one of the bushes, but when I looked at the weekend theres oil all over the shock. Am currently talking to Spax to see if I can make a warranty claim, but its not looking hopeful, so will have to order a new shock at some point this week.
Car is also in desperate need of a service, so that will also be done at the weekend when it will also be washed for the first time in 6 weeks :y:

Andy_K 29th November 2008 17:35

Not really an update as such, but so far today I have

1. Recieved and fitted new smoked side repeaters.
2. Recieved the new mudflaps - will be fitted tommorrow
3. Given the car a service - new plugs/leads, oil change and a k&n panel filter
4. Cleaned it.

Will get pics up tommorrow when its been hoovered inside and the mudflaps are fitted.

Couple of pics from yesterday:

Dirty (this is what 500 miles a week for the past month does)

Andy_K 30th November 2008 21:06

I then got it up on the ramps

Side repeaters were changed if you look closely ;)

Engine was flushed and then the oil drained

Oilfilter drained and changed

Plugs were changed and ht leads
old and new

Ben 30th November 2008 21:09

Looks sexy when its dirty :P

Andy_K 30th November 2008 21:10

A k&N panel filter has also been fitted. Car now runs much sweeter.
Then pressure washed the underneath

Then moved on to the outside.
Pic of the washed and dirty bits so you can see how bad it was!

And all cleaned

After this, it was properly washed with hot water and sponge. Fitted the mudflaps today, but it was too dark by the time i had finished. Will be giving the car a proper whoring session on my day off later this week, so will update then :)

Ha ha. I quite like it when its that dirty as well. Makes people laugh as well. I was just getting sick of getting my clothes dirty every time I get in it though! Much better clean :)

saxomark 1st December 2008 20:28

Looks really nice Andy, Very dirty !!! hahah, And Wheels still look sooo good on it mate.

Keep up good work

Andy_K 1st December 2008 22:11

Cheers Mark. It was nice and clean lol, but then been out to work today and its filthy again now. will give it a proper wash Thursday I think.

Andy_K 3rd December 2008 21:29

Gave it a wash today. Here's a couple of pics that show the mudflaps fitted as well.

It was way too cold to give it a proper clean and wax etc. Gonna order a new rear damper tommorrow, and then send it to the local garage to have it fitted. CAr is off the road until then, as the mounting bolt on the bottom of the shock has sheared off, leaving half of it still screwed through the mounting on the chassis :wall:

Going to let the mechanic sort it out because I can't be bothered crawling round on a freezing wet floor to do it myself.

Andy_K 4th December 2008 20:31

New damper was ordered this moring. Unfortunately Spax don't appear to have any in stock, so I have to wait until they manufacture one for me, which is expected to take until Monday at least. Car is stranded on the drive until then :(

scott22 5th December 2008 09:48

Nice car mate. Like the wheels.

Andy_K 11th December 2008 11:33

Well - the car is now fixed and roadworthy again. Just been dropped off by the garage :y:
Been wierd relying on lifts and the loan of other peoples cars for the past week but no need anymore lol. Got a day off tommorrow so am going to try and fit my Kenwood touchscreen and refit/tweek the boot install, as its all in pieces at the minute whilst the shock was being fitted.

Ben 11th December 2008 11:46

Glad its sorted mate :) Get some pictures up after you've finished tweakin ;)

Andy_K 11th December 2008 12:06

will do mate :y:

Andy_K 12th December 2008 18:37

Done some work on the Focus today, but haven't really done much work taking a photo of lol.

Have stripped the interior out again in preperation for running the wiring for the touchscreen headunit, and have also removed the MTX front speakers as one of the tweeters has blown. Am going to replace these with a set of DB Audio T-Rex Professionals.
The tweeter builds had to be smashed to get the old ones out, so am now in the process of re-doing them to take the new ones:

Also I went and got a new box for my sub, as I think the old one was too small and the sub never seemed to produce much volume or bass. Am trying this new box which is a vented design, so should be a bit louder. Am also sticking a Bass-Cube in for good measure :afro:

It should all be fitted tommorrow, so will update again then.

Also, a random pic of the new strut that Spax sent me that was fitted yesterday:

D8N_LL 24th December 2008 16:57

Ben 25th December 2008 11:33

Merry Christmas mate lol xx

Andy_K 25th December 2008 11:34

And to you Ben!

Andy_K 30th December 2008 22:11

Not updated this in a while, so here's a few photos of the new front components and the tweeter pods being made (again) after breaking the old tweeters out:

Everything is now fitted. The tweeter pods are done and fitted, although they aren't perfect as the primer kept reacting for some reason. I'll probably get round to respraying them again when its a bit warmer, but they don't look too bad tbh.

The Kenwood touchscreen headunit is also fitted now, but the basscube isn't as it refused to power up when installed. The sound of the install has completely changed now, and is a lot more 'bassy'. Still needs tweaking, but i'm pretty happy with it.

Pics of everything fitted to follow tommorrow in the daylight :)

Cheers guys.

Apparently the steering wheel thing is a common 'fault'. I got told that the wheel is treated with some kind of plastic coating which melts in the sun. Feels wierd at first, but you soon get used to it

Went down to the East Mids meet at the weekend. Good bunch of lads and lasses there. There are several photo threads kicking about so I robbed the best shots of my car :D

Hope no one minds. Many thanks to those that took them.
