But it's still got a turbo. I'm not saying it's a poor choice or anything, I'm merely saying the VTS lump is not that bad!

Matts-VTR 25th January 2010 22:43

I know your not looking for an argument but IMHO a vts engine doesnt deserve much credit at all really.

Also clio RSi's are restricted as standard to 110bhp, simple bit of fettling (intake and exhaust) sees them cleanly at vts pace

It just seems to me you ahve to spend stupid money on a saxo vts engine or ITB / turbo it to see decent enough gains for a return on your money!

Veets 25th January 2010 22:55

glanza allday long m8

tom130691 25th January 2010 23:16

the 5 turbo becuase there awsome

girlofthenight 25th January 2010 23:20

I had an R5 turbo and they are great lil toys but not so reliable aparently, i didnt have issues with mine so get a decent one and you'll be fine ;-)

GlanzaDan507 27th November 2010 17:13

I Wish i was cool enough to own a Saxo, i mean.....Look how cool they are

Glanza's are the best hatch back end off.

BOOST

scot-ish 27th November 2010 17:22

that why there are so many high powered glanza's on the oc dan? or are all lthe high powered ones not GT's??

glanza's are for wimmen, GT's are for me.

oh and "boost" isnt yours a Glanza S?

/end

SALTY 27th November 2010 17:23

Renault 5, Much better than my previous saxos!

GlanzaDan507 27th November 2010 17:28

as i said before, if glanza's are better, why are there not many higher powered glanza's, in comparison to people who build gt's??

GT's are for men, glanza are for people making the transition, who then eventually aspire to buy a GT haha

0rang3peel 27th November 2010 17:34

LOL at the glanza twat that has come over here.

You have posted about 5 of the worst possible chav cars ever, I could probably find a standard glanza(micra) looking equally as shit.

Nobody is preaching how amazing saxo's are here infact you will find that most owners have other cars aswel. The sheer fact you had to register over here to argue you drive the best car in the world is hilarious in itself. Run along now

Cammy 27th November 2010 17:40

I think i just loled at the glanza e-warrior

Cant honestly tell you how many people slag off glanza's, especially girls and they see one sitting at the traffic "how ugly is that" "eww, how cheep does that look" tbh i do think they are nice.. but not pulling anything (not even a fat chick) in one, for the money, id get something a little more... reputable.

my VTR against a glanza gave it a run for its money, guy showing off to his girlfriend in his glanza, turbo spooling like fuck, and falling back behind, although thats my mate driving my car and me watching lol, neighbour has 2 of them, has a GT and a glanza, and his glanza isnt that quick either, the GT is a little nicer and has allot of work done to it.

Had to have a little giggle at that, Saxo's have a rep too!

Personally I'd go for the Saxo, far less dated looking, gonna be far less problematic (hopefully) and will be a hell of a lot easier to cope with. Turbo engines that aren't maintained regardless of cost end up bumming your bank account senseless.

moxy89 27th November 2010 18:21

dont get a vts there slow and boring and you will want to change.
I am hugely bored of mine, get something with boost as there is alot more potentail without spending mega money

if youve got a saxo owner bank account indeed, i mean, a second hand engine and turbo is £400, man you could get 3 saxo vts's for that.

maddison_vts 27th November 2010 18:23

a saxo is shit

a glanza is shit and is basically a micra with a sneezing problem

a r5 turbo is just an unreliable shit box.

conclusion, only a teenager would want any of these cars as they are so badly built that they weigh nothing and go 'ok' for a little hatchback. anyone a little bit older and sane would get a decent car and if they wanted a performance car they would buy a fast car to start with that is properly built.

oh how i kick myself for doing what i did to my vts :wall:

_-john-_ 27th November 2010 18:29

I'm 28 and wanted my saxo, so ner!

you are either skint or insane then!

moxy89 27th November 2010 18:32

yeah im the same i regret every penny i spent on my saxo, yeah it goes OK 130bhp and handles well billies b8, but still uber slow and boring, save up and get a proper car ie scooby, evo or something nice with huge amount of potenial out of the above though R5gtt all day long as they old school cool and can be made into a right little hand full

Scoobies and evos? Who, realistically has enough money to fund the running, insurance, maintenance and upkeep of something like that....that isn't living at home with mum n dad?

_-john-_ 27th November 2010 18:35

*or is my age with full no claims

moxy89 27th November 2010 18:37

well i am moving out very soon as saved for a house deposit and currently looking for the right focus RS all you have to do is save, rather than spunk money into saxos just because they follow what everyone else is doing

_-john-_ 27th November 2010 18:44

cant say i plan on spending a fuckin penny on my saxo more than i need to, utterly futile. If you have the money, yeah get something nicer, but for something that ultimately gets you from A-B....dunno, just think I'm over the hump of wanting to own something ridiculous 'just cos'. If and when I'm loaded, I'd be getting something like a nice 5 series sport or something.

+1,

Starlets are shits boxes I'd have either frenchies over one..

It's not arguable the starlet is the current Chav box of choice.

maddison_vts 27th November 2010 19:26

meh, they're all chav boxes including the civic.

cheap, affordable hatchbacks. they will always be chav boxes.

Pod 27th November 2010 21:14

WRONG

Starlets are for Japanese car enthusiats i have NEVER seen a chav in a starlet or glanza, from a early age chavs either get a Saxo, 106, corsa or a nova, 'Modify' their cars to look like the ones from max power(have you ever seen a Glanza/starlet in max power? NO because there are huge gay body kits and boot installs for them) and then when they have cars a few of them, they go on to buy a 1998 subaru impreza in sliver then put a rally livery on them.

Saxos are well known for being chav wagons - not saying you are but just letting you know. which to be honest im sure saxo's are nice little cars but its the chav icon they have. every saxo in my area are alway chavs, driving them thinking that there driving gods, thinking there king of the road.

I know you are all gunna hate because you are all saxo fan boys but thats my 2 cents

As stated above some where all sporty hatch backs are becoming chavs wagons becuase of the cheapness of them, i wish i could change it but i can't
Because 'hot hatches' are cool little cars. :y:

Rant over

Nik_L 28th November 2010 00:12

TBH i would rather have even a Starlet SR over a Saxo.So i would deffo have a Glanza over a Saxo.

blackie_2k5 28th November 2010 00:23

not read the thread, r5 ftw all day long, if i could find a reck id rebuild it to glory............ anyone who sais otherwise is a total 'tard, yes theyre un reliable, costly, etc,but totally iconic! and a decent spec nicely styled and well powered r5 will out do any vts or glanza at any show, and i dont mean by power as all 3 can do well,

you wont find as big a crowd round any other car then a well spent r5 in comparison to the 3

I know a chav who owns one if you want a link to his FB?

Let me know troll.

D--R--E--W 28th November 2010 00:59

To the troll.... Starlets are easily just as chavvy as a saxo. The R5gtt mentioned is far more rare and iconic. The Starlets are good when modified correctly and tbh if I wanted to go back to a boys car, I would more or less chose a starlet/Gt but not because of the chav tag being less, more because of the tuning potential.

devilsadvocate 28th November 2010 12:22

There all old hat these days anyway, theres very few R5 turbos left that are driveable
The starlet will fade out, its old and will slowly dissapear
VTS will last for a while longer due to the amount there are and the fact they were still made upto 2003 (I think)

Yeah starlets can be fast and so can R5 turbos but they will slow fade away I reckon

Furio-92 28th November 2010 12:24

I wouldn't choose any tbh, but if i had too, The R5.
