Have you pierced the lawn with a fork or used an aerator? The grounds probably hard and dry and needs pierced to let water deep into it and let air get into it

Then overseeding it will work alot better, but by next year anyway it should all of blended nicely!

No not pierced it, just prepared the base and rolled the new turf ontop lol. Going to have to do a bit of patching up with some grass seeds on the joints when its settled down. Could really do with an out side tap and hose as using a watering can and filling it up in kitchen is a pain in the ass lol.

This thread is making me want to go do some work in the garden!

LoL, you'll think its great for about 10 minutes then realise why the hell am I doing this, know I did.

Kris i'm not sure about the paving slabs that are standing upright, what are they for? Bit of a trip hazard aswell.. Shed needs a good lick of paint too, but the rest is awesome

Thanks dude, there's a reason for the paving slabs... or two. We've got two kids so it's handy having it there so they can kick balls against it. AND, we smoke, so when we go out late at night for a fag then it's better to sit on the wall that it is on the chairs.

Plus i needed to find a use for the slabs and i needed to keep gravel seperate from my beloved lawn :D

mate, job done. Controlled fire, fire brigade new all about, no more hedge, nothing else got burnt.

Would have taken us another two hours to hack through the hedge and was to much hassle. So....its done! :y:

Well half of the garden was a mess, all uneven since Dad & his mate dug it up years ago, and they left all the turfs in a huge pile at the bottom which looked shit

I got a lend of a digger about a month ago so set about stripping the turfs and burying them, and keeping the topsoil to pull back over the top again..

Half way done here...also dug up some of the path that is going down the middle of the 2 halves of the garden as it had grown over with grass..

Then i levelled off the top 3rd of the garden as i am putting 3m x 4m wooden decking down.. The middle part will be grass, and the bottom 3rd will be for veg etc as Dad wants to plant stuff.. The strip on the right of the pic is gonna be another path which goes to the other gate

I loosened up all the soil and Dad rotivated it, then we put up a fence round the veggy patch bit last weekend.. The box at the bottom is for planting herbs & whatever

This bit is the path im extending from the front of the house which will carry on to the left at the back of those trees

These logs are to hold up that path as it would cave in onto the wooden decking

This corner used to be full of nettles, thistles, and manky old logs which were rotting away...cleared it out last year and dug it up and grass seeded it

This is the good half of the garden, that stone bit was all overgrown with grass so i dug it all out, cleared it all off the stones, then spread wooden bark onto it

And planted some flowers in it, 3 different kinds of Lavender, Curry Plant, wild strawberry etc

Thats about the jist of it so far... :zainy:

The digger cost me nothing to use, theyre building a new bridge outside my house and lent me the keys for a couple weekends!
