I've got a good drivers door replacement which i need to pick up next weekend. So i've dodged a full side respray i didnt need! saved uneccasry spending there. I will be on the lookout for some good used 266mm hi specs or willwoods in the first/second week of next month. Wheel refurb will be happening too as i've found a local company down the road that does them in a day.

Before

new section and with lip.

New section welded. all smooth.

Primered

next update tommorow.

I'll have to do this job on mine too,how much did he ask you for that if you don't mind asking? looks like a very well job btw!

It's costing me £200 but the full sides are getting painted, not just that area. You get what you pay for with bodyshops i think.

Cheers, it does!

How bad are yours?

VeiRoN 22nd February 2014 20:38

Well that's not a bad price, the fuse side on mine looks ok but the ecu side has almost the same amount of holes you have in both your wings lol.

I would ask around for prices. tell them you want the welds grinding flat etc for a nice tidy finish. Nothing worse then looking at a weld. :/

It doesnt bother some people as you dont see it but i didn't want that. I want to remove the ecu and see it nice and smooth as it should be.

Wheel refurb in a day isn't going to go well! Just get some steelies and throw those on for a week or two and get the wheels done properly. I'm sure someone off the forums can lend you are set of wheels that are just sat in a garage doing nothing.

Well that's what i was told the other day from work. He got his 17s done off his Scooby. dipped, etc etc pick up when done on the same day. There's nobody within reach to borrow me some for a week. :/

I'll ask about closer to the time to see

deano_123 23rd February 2014 16:32

should of painted the battery tray

Prickle 23rd February 2014 16:33

Aye, forgot to ask lol. I'll just do it myself.

Prickle 24th February 2014 18:33

Quick flash snap with the phone. It was too dark by the time i got in. Will be giving the bay a proper clean tommorow. Fella even cleaned the car too (standard at bodyshops?) but i'm going to give it another run over as theres water marks on the windaes etc. All in all. worth the wait.

Giraffe 24th February 2014 18:47

I don't mean to sound like a cunt, but was that done by you? if not then that's really not the way to do it.

Infact, as per pm. Made your point.

Prickle 25th February 2014 17:15

That's it till probs mid next month when i get hold of some 4 pots. Whether people think it's been done the "incorrect" way or not its certainly not a shabby job. Its fairly decent. I'll happily show people at FCS if they wish. and FYI Bedford, theres no overspray anywhere.

Cheers.

Engine bay looks brilliant. What battery cover is that? Doesn't look like a 106 GTI one?

Cheers. I got it off a fella off here out of his Saxo. Not sure if its 106 GTi or not tbh. My battery is a tad small for it.

Going through Google images it looks the same.

Jigs2895 25th February 2014 17:48

Owh, I was looking at one listed on eBay that I was about to buy but it's slightly different.

Much prefer your one it covers up a lot more of the battery, i'll continue hunting for one like yours

Prickle 25th February 2014 17:54

Mine might not be i'm not 100% on it. think that one you've posted has a hole at the top and mine doesnt.
