even josh said at his last trackday hardly anything passed him.. imagine how quick these cars can be with a good driver and an awesome car lol.. hopefully josh can prove this even more so soon :)

Yup I totally agree with you Danny - great post mate! Hopefully I can prove it even more in the future just need some more power next :D

kev - good to see you around bud and thanks for the nice comment...

Quick update, would seem I started to destroy 3rd gear at cadwell which then got progressively worse at donny.... Ah well... It should be all good for a rebuild as Tom (unreal) is kindly donating a 3rd gear and I'll replace the non-sealed bearings as the amount of metal running around inside the box was crazy - no wonder it was slow engaging gears!

Gearbox casing (luckily no damage to the diff)

And 3rd gear you can see has been completely stripped(inner ring, closest to the camera is supposed to have gears like the outer, larger one)...

J222JRA 9th June 2011 08:06

Wowww thats some damage to the teeth on 3rd......quite an achievement that lol.

Good to meet you on sunday Josh.

AndySAXO 9th June 2011 08:33

Really wanted to see your car at Fcs, :( but have to wait til Germany now :)

Shame about tom's car he would of shown a few lads up around there.

I hated stripping the MA gearbox down, all be it i had help doing it, but it was a right pain! Cannot believe the mess inside that box though. chocolate boxes!

rushy_23 10th June 2011 11:06

Bit of bad news on the box Josh, but I guess its to be expected. How many miles has it covered since it was last put together?

Progress is great as always. Are you still planing things for the engine? I remember hearing a few rumours..

Liam_ 10th June 2011 23:41

Love the attention to detail, definitely one of the best cars on this site. Need to have a proper look at it next time our paths cross. :)

Box doesn't look too healthy, especially considering you had the crown wheel and pinion swapped fairly recently too? Damn things must be made of cheese.

Yeah it's annoying but ah well, it prob broke due to me giving it a hammering round track so far this year lol

Only thing that was changed last time the box was open was the FD Rushy, box has covered about 30k in it's entire lifetime, And done about 8k since it's complete rebuild, when I say complete it even had a brand new gearset fitted and has extra strengthened parts on it as standard. In all the boxes we've referbed we've never seen a box like mine with all the extras lol

As I said to Rushy (above) the only thing that was changed last time the box was apart from the FD, so all the other parts of the box have done 4 ring trips and approx 15+ track days so I'm suprised it's lasted this long tbh.

The great thing is the synceos and all the parts that "normally" wear are in great condition, but obviously at cadwell or Donnington I've rammed it in 3rd, broke or cracked a tooth and then it just gets worse and worse from then onwards, that tooths broke up making the oil dirty not allowing the syncros to do there job properly meaning it's slow into gear which then made me crunch it a few more times trying to get it in gear before a corner which has broken a few more teeth off 3rd making the box even slower into gear etc etc

Thanks for the comments btw lads :)
