Tbh I can speak from experience, And if its really starting to give you jip mate then raise her up, ive been thinking about doing the same to mine recently, shes starting to rattle around like a bastard now and im getting fecked off with all the bumpy roads around my area, starting to like the look of -60mm all round now and i think there a a fair few benefits to that extra height. Yours would still look sexy as fook at that height i reckon. but its so nice to be amongst the lowest cars on the road!

loving the car though mate

CHIP 18th November 2008 12:16

Cheers pal. Your right it is nice to have a really low car. Its mint when you drive into a cruise etc. and people are like 'wow, thats low, its awesome!'... proper makes me smile or people giving me thumbs up at lights with a big grin on their face.

Proper makes you feel like it's all worth it.

Claire-VTR 18th November 2008 12:25

Personally, imo, I think yours would look alot better if it was level? If your questioning whether its too low or not, I would raise it at the back but leave it the way it is at the front.

It would look top notch then!! :y:

CHIP 18th November 2008 12:27

Its not that its too low as such, not visually anyway (although front needs to come down). But the fact that I dont know how long the car can carry on like it. It looks awesome in my eyes. But the body does creak as it is and i dont want to damage it.

Claire-VTR 18th November 2008 12:36

lol Im the same but its a saxo and they're feeble anyways :fcuk:

Im with you completely that low is the way to go! :y: Just have it they way you want, but like you said, the lower you go the more trouble it causes, but anything can be fixed.

After alot of bother I finally got mine to sit level at the back, (have to get pics up though) the front arch sits over the tyre, but I ruined driveshafts and my powersteering burst twice but since then i bought a brand new driveshaft which holds 100% and I got my powersteering pipes relocated, so everythings fine now and I havent hand any bother whatsoever since.

All im trying to say is that it can be done!! And if thats the way you want it, go for it! ;)

Fruitbooter 18th November 2008 12:55

Hey mate love the car looks sexual, dont raise the back unless your having major problems lol.

What suspension you running at the front, i know its down -60mm but what springs and shocks?

If you do change to coilovers make sure you get some that are up to the job ;)

Karl 18th November 2008 12:58

Really low Saxo's arent cool.
ruins the one thing thats nice about them, the handling.

Keep up the good one man!

now that is smart

Claire-VTR 18th November 2008 13:03

Mine handles fine, infact superb!! :P Ive run mine from just having 60mm springs to coilovers to cut springs to shortened shocks etc etc, loads of different and stupid ways! :geek:

ok ok it isnt the best on really bad country roads but what lowered car is?

yup! :n: But It was only a quick fix until i got the coilovers (which turned out to be even worse) There was less than a coil took off though, I hated the way it didnt sit even and I was going to a show that Saturday and wanted it sorted. Bad move I know, but it actually wasnt all that bad, not good for the car at all though lol

my cousins mate did it with his 106. took a bit to much of and the spring popped out and went through his wing lol

Claire-VTR 18th November 2008 13:16

O dear?? that isnt good! lol

Na, I only wanted about 10mm -15mm so 1 coil was enough to do the job. IMO it didnt feel any different to what it was like before, but I dont agree with people that would half the amount of coils :S there is a limit and it just isnt safe, like your cousin experienced? I have it sorted now though :P

But anyways, back to Chip! ;)

Xsi16v_Jk 18th November 2008 13:17

Your car is fooking lush mate.
What of the nicest blues i have seen!! :D

Karl 18th November 2008 13:30

Im guessing your one of these 'motorsport-ish' kind of people? Yes, lowering it this much isnt much good for handling and yes, its only a showcage not a full one, but i dont get people who cant understand the STYLING side of modifying. Not everything has to try and be like a rally car. You can just make your car stand out visually from the rest too.

LVC_VTR 18th November 2008 18:26

keep it slammed it looks awesome

LEE_VTR1 18th November 2008 22:50

its not low enough tbh chip.

AlexB 18th November 2008 22:52

the camber isnt good mate
means the beam is pretty rollied

looks ace that low though

louis_23 18th November 2008 23:10

how low is it?

I totally agree mate "lowered saxos arnt cool"

IN THIER OPINION

ffs people get fecked off just because it doesnt handle as well as it did, lol! its like well who gives a shit, it looks the dogs bollocks anyway and you never need to drive it fast enough that the loss in handling matters. so who cares???

Mikeys pic looks awesome mate. And yeah mine loves a creak and a nice deafening bang on potholes that is sooo butt clenching on a weekly basis but they still keep going.

Love it. :y:

GroomGTI 23rd November 2008 19:32

my car is lowerd 100m on the back handles like a dream. Also looks perfect. ;)

CHIP 24th November 2008 00:56

Well my shocks on the front are foobarred now lol. After 2 years of being at 60mm and all their previous use, they've finally died! So i've got to fix that this week. Just had a new rear tyre too and axle gets fixed a week on Saturday and its being raised a notch too.

I'll keep you all updated.

Slammed_Posi_Vtr 25th November 2008 10:05

what you gonna go for mate?

Saxo_theedge 25th November 2008 11:49

I rekon it looks mint that low, the stance is sweet as.:fcuk:

But if it is causing you and the car problems , then 60mm allround would still looks sweet as:y:

CHIP 25th November 2008 12:40

Its not problems for the car as such. Just i think it may cause problems if it stays like it. Putting new standard shocks on as they've lasted 2 years and they werent brand new when i lowered it, so they've done well. Also considering buying a VTS?

Slammed_Posi_Vtr 26th November 2008 09:35

So standard shocks and custom springs? any in particular? im doing mine soon so would be interested to know what you are going for. Dont bother buying a vts mate, keep yours until you are sick of saxos then go for something bigger and more powerfull. Thats what i reckon anyway.

CHIP 26th November 2008 17:58

60mm Gmax springs and standard shocks mate. I know people call doing it like that, but as I say, at end of day they've lasted 2 years and been fine until now, plus i can change to uprated eventually if I want to anyway.

My mates really trying to talk me into 16V, i would like one as when i went out in his GTI i loved it... but it depends on cash flow etc. Plus i dont want peanuts for my car as i know once i've fixed the struts (in my boot, doing it sunday due to work & birmingham bike show on Sat) and i've sorted the axle (being done Saturday after) it's a minter. The cars polished all the time, gets any money spent on it that it needs plus more. Id be daft to let it go for nothing.

CoolC 26th November 2008 18:51

Very nice car you got there mate.

boz 6th December 2008 13:10

any pics of your coilovers on the strut by any chance?

just wanting to have a look at them and see what the crack is with them :)

car is looking good matey
nice color, dont see many like that
very clean and low ;)

I'll see if i have any, but if you're considering, id tell you to avoid. They only stayed on a week. They were shockingly crap so i sent them back. You could get them to work but it would cost more money and alot of effort, by which time you may aswell have just bought decent ones in the first place.

Car was meant to have the back axle fixed today and be raised on the back... That plan went to pot lol. So hopefully getting done soon (needs doing tbf).

Also got a new project... Ducati Monster 620 (2003). Been after a bike since i passed my test not long back and i specifically wanted a V-Twin. Got a bargain so i'm very happy. May post pictures at some point.

AlexB 6th December 2008 16:55

gotta love the ducati noise :D

me dad had a monster (with termi exhausts on) sounded the nuts

CHIP 6th December 2008 17:01

Lol, well tbf it needs abit of work. But by the time it's done it will be mint. Having it re-sprayed, ordered Renthal bars today... Also been polishing bits up today and giving it a general tidy up. Possibly having a custom exhaust made.

Bikes are in my blood as much as cars lol. My dad owns a Ducati 800 Supersport and my Uncle owns a Ducati 1098R :O, just had a new exhaust system on it (porn). And my Auntys got her new Fireblade on order.

boz 6th December 2008 17:14

cheers matey

it just to get an idea of how they work, i have a mate who is going to develop a kit for them that is alot better than certain kits available ;)

CHIP 6th December 2008 17:16

Lol. Well im off out in a minute, but if I dont get in too late I'll upload them tonight. If not I'll try and do it tomorrow. Im helping a friend move house though, so busy day lol.

boz 6th December 2008 17:18

lol nee sweat mate.

have a good night :):drink::boxing::cool:

100meters? bloody hell. :p

Mines lowered 50mm, and it looks good. Low but not too low. It does compramise ride quality but i dont drive fast enough to be bothered about handling.
