Well to be honest Craig,

Some lad broke down near my house and he rang me to go and help him... So being the gentleman I am I did just that..

In the process I got soaking wet, so when I was home I had to change the other 2 wheels freezing and drenched through. I did it though..

I hope your happy with the damage you have caused.

smiith 1st September 2008 03:21

Car is looking amazing so far tbh, for work been done on it. Wish the lad who owned my old mk1 before me had of done the underside, everything was rotton, one of the front bumper bolting points and broke away from the car with rust, poor lad whos bought it.

Think when i get a new car, im inspired to do some of the work you're doing :A:

James 1st September 2008 10:06

Just drove to MOT... won't go on the ramps because of the fanny mould lol

Managed to get it booked in down the road from me for 10.45...

Couple of things wrong.. I know it won't pass straight away but it's nice to know what I am going to need to do.

Car is fast... I like very much yes

James 1st September 2008 10:14

These look better on green car lol

James 1st September 2008 11:27

Failed MOT.. expected it to anyway... did better than I thought though lol

Needs new brake lines on both sides front to rear.
New washer motor..

Thats it.. so pretty sound.

Luke 1st September 2008 11:44

Nothing major at all, least it can be sorted easily.

Looks like it's going to make the ring then?

TU-Tuning 1st September 2008 11:45

Bargain thats hardly an issue atall. Fair play its really smart, especially for the money. Very sad to see the green one like that after what it looked like before, especially all dirty and unloved lol. I like those rims on the mk1 they suited it and theyre different, but they dont look quite right ont he green one to me

James 1st September 2008 11:47

Yep, free partcial re-test within 10 days so i'll get that sorted this week hopefully.

New Tyres, get rims painted, machine the bodywork, fit piper back on, re-fit rear splitter, fix oil guage, tidy engine up, fit xeons and job's a goon'un.

Ben - There going back on, had to swap them over for the MOT as tyres on them are illegal lol

that car will never be the same without 15 inch leggies ;)

Yates 1st September 2008 17:26

told you to change wheels over and you said no!

not bad at all that excuse to get braided lines aswell ;)

James 2nd September 2008 14:39

Car is booked in for MOT re-sit on Monday, on Monday they will also replace all the brake lines.. front and rear. Might as well do them all at once. 100 pound + VAT.. an unexpected bill but might as well have it all done and save me the hassle later down the line.

So the car WILL be on the road monday..

I'll be getting the wheels sorted this week sometime as well :)

TU-Tuning 2nd September 2008 14:49

is that 100 quid for just fitting the brake lines? or MOT too? I its just the labour do it yourself thats a rip off, brake lines are a piece of piss to fit. Could get braided ones for 50/60 quid

That's 50-60 quid for one pair dude.. I'd need 2 pairs. It is not just the lines that need doing it's everything from the cylinder.. down under the car to the brake lines as well. I arn't clued up but I don't even fancy attempting to pull all the old lines out and put new lines in :S never touched breaks in my life lol

Then labour, break oil, breaks being bled etc..all materials etc.

That also covers the costs to partially re-test the 2 items it failed on.. assumed it was free but after reading the form with Ash last night it states a small charge will be incured if the car leaves the garage.

Steve 2nd September 2008 15:25

can i have a go of it round the ring :D

James 2nd September 2008 15:28

no.. lol

James attempting his own brakes would end up in possibly the biggest epic fail the world has ever seen...

James 2nd September 2008 19:48

Agreed.

James 8th September 2008 09:22

Cars just been dropped off at the Garage,

They gave me a lift back home in it (well the manager did).

Turns out he used to be a racing instructor at Oultan Park? been to the ring etc lol, intresting chap. I got the feeling he's going to find more faults with the car than the other lads did though . . he kept banging on about my airbag light that the other tester did not even mark down as an Advisory lol

Hope to fuck it goes through >.<

Harv 9th September 2008 20:32

Did it pass then mate lol?

James 9th September 2008 20:34

It did indeed matey, stand by for mass updates over the next week lol

Wooooo cool. Bet you can't wait for the ring now!!! Car does look nice to be fair, the green one looks so neglected now though. Are you actually selling/keeping it or something wrong with it lol?

Wayne 9th September 2008 20:52

Congratulations on the black one buddy:y: just get the rotary on it now and will look even better than 180's:P like what you have done with the car so far:)

craig180 9th September 2008 20:56

:P, goal is to get a 15.3-4 once I put the new toyo rubber on and me driving it. If it can run a 15.6 on 12 pound tyres with no traction for god knows how long it should be capable of it with a lighter driver as well (no offence alex don't kick my teeth in).

omgdorz someone stole ur wheelz

oh hai

Ring prep

Got my RAC european cover sorted today, need to ring insurance and request the green card but other than that I am done :)

samcook 10th September 2008 14:59

u dont need a green card mate

Yates 10th September 2008 17:49

i need breakdown cover still lol

glad its all sorted now, peace of mind

craig180 10th September 2008 21:51

With all that redbull they'll be peeling you off the ceiling! You getting some decent rubber on the other wheels? Why don't you leave the vtr rims on the black one?

James 10th September 2008 22:09

Well took it to see Alex tonight and let him take it for a drive... could tell he really really misses it. Said he can't belive how well it pulls, on motorway in 5th and he said to match it in the celica he would have had to been in 4th :) guess thats a good thing.

Been running it in all night and my god I fucking love it. Pulls like a train at 70.

Craig 45/16's will be fitted, brand new rubber. I have 2 x 45's here that I may throw in the car if they fit just incase there needed over there.

Got the paint for wheels, got a bullet connector to fix oil temp guage, piper goes on saturday so I can loose the cat, xeons go in saturday, wheels and tyres either friday or sunday.

I got a noise that me and alex expect to be the cambelt pulley but until it's stripped down we can't say. Hopefully that will be diagnosed before saturday so if it needs sorting it can be done.
