coleman262 3rd March 2009 15:58

Just reading through all these posts, haha! no way will a 1.1 do those speeds, my brothers 1.1 (R.I.P the poor car) got up to 100mph (the night he crashed).... But doing 70 on a duel carriage way the steering wheel shaked... ALOT! :fcuk:

PSPDan 3rd March 2009 16:07

My 1.1 will do 196mph at a push. :homme:

In all seriousness I've never done above 80. Two reasons really, it doesn't feel safe, and I don't wanna get fucked over for speeding.

Driving at 100mph+ counts as driving like a cock in my book. :boxing:

phil-jones 3rd March 2009 18:39

get some viper stripes they add 20bhp per stripe

crazysniper 3rd March 2009 19:47

just finished reading everyones comments on this thread and the most questions ask is how did they managed to get 113, 120 etc on a 1.1??

The answer is... they are using a dash/dials with a speedo measuring Kmph rather than Mph. SIMPLES! for more info go to meerkats.com!

I have a 1.1 R Reg its standanrd except for the stainless steel exhaust and compomotive alloys installed on it, and i have to say its quite slow, espcially when you stop at the traffic light then move again.

oli208 3rd March 2009 23:52

But R1 carbs on it! u can rev alot higher and will increase ur 0-60

ocktovts 4th March 2009 00:27

best way to go is to save up 4 a conversion mate

rudeboiross 4th March 2009 00:38

It does, it goes dumm dumm dumm *clutch in* bwaaaaaap *clutch in* bwaaaaaaap *clutch in* and brake applied to stop safely.

BenjaM 4th March 2009 00:55

For your information,i can get 107 out of my 1.1 And thats not just using the Speedo, but a Sat Nav aswell because at first i thought, this cant be right, but turns out it was.

care to explain how it would rev higher with no adjustment to the ecu, and the point in revving higher with no increase in duration/lift of the camshaft?

imydaking 5th March 2009 09:12

the 1.1 is sloww...... what more is there to it.

and it is a shopping car after all tbh if you want performance you buy one built for it in the first place. Other than cosmetic mods (alloys etcc) absolutly no point in doing anything to the engine in a 1.1.

more than likely will just make it worse like people who put on hugeee filters am sure its doing more harm than good. The only sane thing i can think of is just strip it out and get rid of anyhting not needed lightness will surely make it faster than any expensive exhaust etcc..

tomo2k8 5th March 2009 15:12

lol funny chap - I heard it was the blue LED Jet washers were the ones to watch out for, an extra 50bhp for them!! :clapping:

rudeboiross 6th March 2009 00:14

fair play, is pretty nippy around town etc and good handling but at the end of the day.. still a 1.1

PSPDan 6th March 2009 00:38

Lol I hate driving on motorways and stuff. As soon as I hit 70 in 5th gear I can literally put my foot to the floor and the acceleration is painfully slow. Half the time I go out to overtake people it takes me 20 seconds to catch up with them :n:

a little over 70mph and you'll notice it picks up speed alot better, the acceleration/torque comes quite late in the rev range in the 1.1.. getting from 70mph to 80mph is alot harder than say 78mph to 88mph.

However you should be keeping a constant speed on the motorway anyway, for fuel efficiency ;)

Drop down to 50mph, put it into 4th than just floor it to 60+ than straight into 5th, works for me lol, mind i had a full car on the a19 i had my foot to the foor and wasnt picking up much speed. :homme:

saxova 6th March 2009 08:31

I bought a cheap run around 1.1i saxo, 128k on clock.. hit 100 mph with 3 in the car. 95 in 4th, could only pick up 5mph in 5th, seemed to lose power. suppose with a big hill (and patience) You may get 105-109. Thats a total billy bog though, So if some of these lads have mods then maybe the 115mph is possible.

SmuJ 6th March 2009 13:50

I reach 100mph in a 1.0 12v Vauxhall Corsa once, with 17's on it. I must admit the truth it took me one massive hill to get there and about 30 minutes. Lesson being: Don't buy nothing lower then a 1.6 IMO.

SmuJ 6th March 2009 13:50

...and stick silly wheels on it. It won't move. Trust me.

And how would you have felt if you had binned said Saxo at 100mph and killed everybody but you?

...Fun times on your own, on a clear road... put someone in the car with me and im a completely different driver... OH and to the guy who said overtaking in a 30mph zone in second... shame on you!:n:

brockisboi 15th March 2009 23:16

speed

i got 110 in my saxo 1.1i

Marneyboi 24th March 2009 19:37

had 110 out of my 1.1 2day and still had more to go, no mods part from wheels and sound system! ripped m8s 1.2 corsa

Cowboi 20th May 2009 09:59

i have got about 104 out of mine but purely by mistake. was on bipass after argument with rents and music blaring lol mines 5 door though so will never get over that i dont recon

jinx 20th May 2009 10:35

Just look after it as you have been doing make sure it is machanicley sound, maybe take it to a strip to open her up but do it slowely.

My 106 could beat a quicksilver up to 70, along with a 1.4 corsa "04" shape.

Was pretty quick but when i got my saxo just felt like i dont need to race as i know i can beat a fair few cars, so dont bother now.

ric_b3 20th May 2009 15:54

That is very tru I had 115 on the clock and the road angle was sayin 102. I've completly stripped out the whole of the back out cos I don't ever need to pick up anyone it drones like hell in low revs but when u get higher does sound good. I've only got a k&n cone but I find if ur out and about only take it up to three thousend rpm and when I want abit fun I dnt get close to redline I leave at least 500 rpm then change up

reynolds 5th April 2010 23:17

i can get 105 in 4th but wouldn't do it to much lol

jeffchiz 5th April 2010 23:29

jeffchiz 5th April 2010 23:31

get a real engine boys

Sammy-Boy 5th April 2010 23:39

How the hell you got 115 out of a 1.1 is beyond me! You just wanna learn the rules of the road and stop being complete dickheads
