Story of my life. Lol

Saying that though, I'd rather be 2nd class motoring rather than 1st class walking. Haha.

It's a heap, but it does me proud.

Lol istrangely love this car mate, stands out (y)

ed-bradley 15th July 2011 22:13

Info update of the day.

Started sanding the car down again today, which has proven to be a ball ache with it being painted with chalkboard paint.
I'll be re-doing it Satin black, not the classiest of colours..But far nicer on the eye than Rollered on blackboard paint. That coupled with my Compomotive Mo's being sent to the powdercoaters in a couple of weeks to be done Orange :D

Getting hold of some more bits aswell fingers crossed this week.
A 16v Jp engine, ready for a rebuild. A vts rear beam from a local lad, new grill and some Mirror caps.

ed-bradley 26th July 2011 22:48

Couple of pictures to upload, while I can be arsed..

I started sanding my car down the other day, but gave up.
Ended up spraying the Roof white as I re-painted my front wheels for the time being in white from yellow and pink until I get them powdercoated.

Looks alot better now. I think anyway.
Just waiting for my coil spring compressor to arrive with my air compressor then I can get onto fitting the lowering springs.

Edit: Pictures wont work for some reason, heres a link.

JDub 26th July 2011 22:59

Love it!
How much chalkboard paint did it take to do the whole car mate?

Hope to do my saxo bonnet in it soon, and just bought a shitter of a pug 106 to wreck so I'll be doing it to the whole car.

Also are they 3 stud comp mo's? Look just like mine! Suits the car well.

ed-bradley 26th July 2011 23:05

Erm.. Roughly 2litres. Definitely no more than 2.5litres though.
It's a bastard to sand back down though as its so rough Lol.

Yeah 3 stud Compomotives, :D Beastly wheels.

ed-bradley 2nd August 2011 22:14

Will update with pics when I'm home in the morning.
But, :D

Went to Furio-Gazza's house today to collect a trim piece for the bottom of the windscreen and ended up buying his 60mm lowering springs while I was there too :D Also.. A gearknob.

Hopefully I'll have them on this week or next, aswell as dropping the rear to match. If that fails, I'll be paying someone to do it instead.
Next on the list is a half cage, and some Cam's and service parts for my other recent purchase.. Single plug 16v lump :D

ed-bradley 19th August 2011 22:33

Update, Yaaaay.

Photobuckets being a prick, so I have to use a direct link code for some reason, instead of an [Img] code. -_-

Had 'Boony' do my torsion bar for me, as I'm to much of a wimp to do it :homme: Can't recommend him enough, great guy!

Picked up my springs from Gaz a week or 2 ago, and fitted them on Tuesday.
Snapped one of ARB mounts in the process aswell :n:

http://i746.photobucket.com/albums/x..._3442610_n.jpg
Driveshaft hub nuts wouldn't shift for shit, and I don't have access to any air tools at my mums, so only option was to pull them off with the struts and change the gearbox oil, Probably needed doing anyway, so no biggie.

fronts on :D

Also, had my college certificates/Qualifications through this week too.

ed-bradley 19th August 2011 22:36

When I'm permanently living on the isle of man, I'll be re-spraying the car as I have a decent compressor and a decent area/workshop to spray it in.
I'm still 100% unsure of the colour I want.

Ideally I want it in the Renault storm grey, once all the bodywork is tidied up and perfected.
Or I could just do it satin/matte black which I think would still look relatively decent, and be far easier to do.
Meeh.

ed-bradley 19th August 2011 23:34

Collected a Rear spoiler, and a pair of black VT bumpers aswell from wales earlier this week.
Put the front on the other day, to replace my old one which got attacked with a saw.
And bonded & Bolted a Mk1 VTS spoiler onto the rear, It'll be coming off at some point though to be painted white along with the mirror caps.
Finally starting to look like a car now, rather than a heap.

* Also been busy building/fixing a Single plug 16v lump, before it goes into the car at a later date. Done the headgasket, water pump and cambelt etc so far. But need a set of cams- standard or preferably uprated before I can have it running.*

Jay_ 20th August 2011 00:38

bet you come over to the IOM when I move away permanently.... :A: lolz

Good progress dude!!

ed-bradley 20th August 2011 00:42

Cheers man :D

Knowing my crap luck, thats probably likely. Lol

I was over for a couple of times briefly last month, to take some stuff over and sort my bike out. Think I'll be moving back over in mid september, So I'm assuming you'll be back at Uni then? FML Lol

leave on the 23rd/24th sept!! :y: should have shouted up, could have gone for a beer/lap of the course! Getting well quicker at driving now! Mountain is getting proper fun!

ed-bradley 20th August 2011 01:08

Woo! May be over there by then, fingers crossed :D

Iye, I would have done. I forgot until I got over there, Was at jurby with the bikes for a weekend so didn't have any time for the t'internet.

I'm not sure when I'll be taking the saxo over, may be leaving it at my mums for a while as I wont need a car that much over there, but can always use one of my dads or something. If I'm over before the 24th, we'll go for a lap in the Discovery! Haha

rick_VTR 24th August 2011 19:11

cars looking good bud, sure i recognise them bumpers and spoiler tho :/

Cam 24th August 2011 19:28

Car looks nice buddy :y:

ed-bradley 8th September 2011 19:05

General update

Not much has changed on the car since it was lowered, although I recently picked up a pair of Citroen AX GT wheels from ebay, they were cheap so thought I may aswell for the crack. Just need another pair now- If anyone happens to have any :D

16v Engine conversion is finally coming together. Collecting a 16v engine and loom from Boony in the next week or 2, and a Fuel pump, Ecu and another loom from Stew( Sexy_gt)

Just need to get an Inner wing/ecu engine mount now to weld in my bay. Then I can start.
Picked up a set of 266mm Discs and Calipers to suit to have a play with on my 3 stud struts, as I'd like to stay 3 stud because I like my Compomotive Mo's to much. Haha. When I'm over at my dads I'll be playing with a lathe and some metal to try and figure out a bracket thats suitable for the calipers, and the best way to sort the discs.

ed-bradley 7th October 2011 17:42

Gotta represent :y: Dads company, SaxP, Dads solo & sidecar race team.

Had an *Incident* which ended up with me going sideways at 70mph due to ditch finder tyres. Cable ties always come in handy.

Picked up a new pair of seats from Saxdazza, and he offered me his cage as he's going back to standard. I couldn't resist so..
It needs some work, mainly to the mounting points.. Which will be box sectioned when I'm over at my dads.

ed-bradley 25th October 2011 19:42

Quick update for the time being.
Quick picture from Last week,

Then on Friday.. This happened.

Exhaust snapped, as did the bolts at the bottom of the manifold.
So left the car until Monday, until I could get some bolts.

Went out today, let my friend "have a go" of my car.. Silly faggot rode the clutch and didnt lift his foot off, Clutch went. :homme: Facepalm.

Also I got this,

Big thanks to Jake, (Boony, on here) For the engine, and a few other parts.. along with the Torsion bar lowering a while back :y:

So need a few parts for the engine before it can be fitted, I'm using a 1.1 box on it for the time being. And I'll be fitting it asap while its off the road, along with tidying the engine bay up aswell as the paintwork.

ed-bradley 4th November 2011 22:30

Had another shitty couple of weeks..

The day after I sorted the exhaust, I let a mate drive my car..Which ended up with a Fudged clutch. So the car's been off the road and at my Uncles while I collect some bits and shits for the engine.

Got to give a massive Thanks to saxovtrmk1, He's sorted me a shed load of bits in the past week for the engine at a shit hot price too. And still sorting more bits for me :D

I've bought a new clutch from Sexy_gt on here too for the VTS lump also. I'm hoping to have the engine in and running within the next 2-3 weeks, as I don't really need it for work so can take my time on tidying the engine bay and sorting any rust issues.
Picture of the engine as it is,and a few odds and sods..I also left the shed door open..During the only rain storm of the day.:homme:

saxovtrmk1 4th November 2011 22:41

Didnt no boony had sold you the engine lol hes helping me with my axle tmrw hes a top lad (-:

ed-bradley 4th November 2011 22:43

Haha, Yeah man. He did my rear beam aswell.

t-dogg 4th November 2011 22:56

although the car might look shit, I think that is some fare nice saxo, keep up the work.

Don't have another "incident" when the vts limp goes in.;);)

ed-bradley 4th November 2011 23:05

Haha, Nice one. Yeah, don't worry I don't plan on doing so :D

yeah thats another thing I hope to address while the engines out.
I want to repaint the car, inside and out. The outside, I'm just gonna settle for Satin/Matte black.. But rattle cans. I really wish I'd done it first time round rather than dicking about with chalkboard paint, as it just ends up looking grey and stains easily. The inside I'm doing with black, with the cage being white.

ed-bradley 11th November 2011 18:00

Update yaaaay

Commenced the removal of the engine and renovation of the engine bay this week. Pretty slow progress if I'm honest, but its getting there. I was actually really surprised at how easy the engine came out. Only problem I had was with a cable on the gearbox that had a rounded nut on, so I ended up snipping the wire and removing the nut afterwards...Oh, and the fact the engine ended up dropping on my foot off the jack.

Old engine out, new one under for cover for the time being.

Working all weekend, so I'll be carrying on with it on Monday.
I've recently gone and bought a welder, so I'll be testing it on the engine bay.
Suprisingly, the rust isn't too bad. 2 Spots under the Ecu as you can probably see ones smaller than a 5 pence piece, the other hasn't gone through completely and is still solid. just looks a mess. Looks alot worse than it actually is in the photo's as I've started sanding some of the bay back so alot of it is just Orange rusty dust.

I'll be treating the engine bay with rust prevention stuff, then coating it afterwards in a gloss black.

mattygoulding 11th November 2011 19:27

like the look of this bro will be keeping a eye on it

Simon0014 11th November 2011 21:11

As i've said before, i really like this! Glad to see a nice 16v lump going in as well :y:

ed-bradley 11th November 2011 21:21

Cheers guys, Glad to finally be getting round to doing it.. Its only taken me 14 months :D Haha.
I've still got the brakes to sort yet, as I'd like to stay 3 stud. I've got a set of 283mm calipers, that I'd like to try and fabricate onto the struts or AX struts if needs be as Mikol used them for his brakes due to the spacing or something. So I'll look at that when I'm next on the Isle of Man and have some metal handy.

Next task, once the engines in and running correctly will be to tackle the body work as the Chalkboard novelty is wearing off Lol, and its a bastard to keep stains off. It'll most likely be going Rattle can Satin/Matte black. Next lot of updates and pictures will be next week when I'm off work again. Until then, i've got a 307 Hdi xsi to roll deep in :fcuk:

saxokid100 13th November 2011 02:50

Nice vts build you have......

Jay_ 13th November 2011 12:10

Dano 13th November 2011 16:23

Fair play bud, keep it up!

Just wondering whats the diameter of the cage bars? they look quite chunky, me likey :y:

JDub 13th November 2011 17:57

Love this!
Did you say you're keeping the same struts just changing the brakes? Didn't really understand your post in my thread. :P

Got the Stickers from a Guy I used to Race with. He makes stickers in his spare time, Cost me about a fiver for the 2 :)
yeah the chalkboard paint is alright when the cars wet, as it makes it go black..I'm guessing the sun gets to it and makes it fade slightly.:homme:

Haha Cheers, yeah It took some balls to just sand down the original paint (that was left anyway) to just paint it with the Chalkboard paint. I'll measure the diameter of the cage bars tomorrow when I'm working on it, if I remember :)

Iye, thats what I plan to do. If you look at some of Mikols threads http://www.saxperience.com/forum/member.php?u=25059 mainly his progress thread and such, he's the wizz at doing the big brake conversions for 3 stud struts. But yeah, i'm going to see what I can do with mine.. If I fail, I'll see if I can get Mikol to do it for me. Reason being, I like my 3 stud Compo MO's.. as I'm sure you do too Lol. So I want to keep them for aslong as possible :)

Tom5190 13th November 2011 23:43

Looks good matey, always good to see another 16v! id be going for the 4 stud conversion my self like for the use of the shafts and better ARB's.

ed-bradley 14th November 2011 00:42

Cheers man, It's nice to know some people appreciate it. I'm starting to feel embarrassed when sat in traffic with other cars. Especially when I park in Manchester city centre and realise I'm not in home territory when my Saxo is parked next to Flying Spur's and Mercedes SLS's. Haha.

But yeah, I will definitely be going 4 Stud at some point. I've got the rear S beam ready, Just waiting to get a set of VT struts, wishbones,ARB etc.. But i'd like to atleast try and see where I can get with knocking up a half decent brake setup for a 3 Stud like Mikol did/does. :)

hey man, I appreciate it! Think it will be incredible tearing round the IOM caged and matte black! Hope I get to see it... :homme:

ed-bradley 14th November 2011 01:36

Haha Cheers man :) Yeah I've been wanting to take it over there to my dads, Its just to expensive for me to do so. Plus, I find a bike more exciting to ride over there and cheaper to get there and back too Lol :)

One day though, Hopefully.

ed-bradley 17th November 2011 22:41

Slight update,

Engine conversion is coming along, slowly. The engines in, but not running (Yet). I'm going to collect an OMP Exhaust tomorrow for it, and a couple of sensors. Then that Should be everything. Apart from Bolting in the Ecu engine mount and doing the fluids.
However, I had some slightly annoying and quite honestly fucking annoying information earlier about the engine. One of the previous owners informed me of it having had Severe headgasket failure during there ownership, and got rid of the engine. Only to have found the owner after that had flogged the engine to me, without telling me about the failure. So its a bit hit and miss at the moment, I'm unsure whether the engine will run.. And if it does, how long it will last.

So thats my planned trackdays out of the window.
I'll update with pictures and more info when I can. I'm off to drown myself in cider.
