Waow, both questions in the 2 following replies. Now thats good service!

Might have to part with some notes for my own soldering iron, cant wait to see the needles pred :y:

My dads got 2 citreon dispatches amongst his fleet, i think they have orange needles :P

What ever happened to the lad who could make the rev needle change colour as it progressed round the dial? I'll try find the link!

EDIT: Link - Rev Needle changes colour

richo 28th March 2007 10:13

Got my led's this morning, could not beleive how small they were.

Will be giving this a shot soon, gota pop out to get some solder firstly though.

Got a electronics soldering iron, so its got a really thin pencil-like tip.

Hope all goes to plan, taking the laptop with me incase i need to refer back to the tutorial.

Richmt11 28th March 2007 10:18

In town today so might nip into maplins and get some LED's looks awesome!

richo 28th March 2007 11:48

So to remove the dash do you have to take the steering wheel off?

Just it seems that way, cause there are for screws you need to access. 2 At the top and 2 at the bottom?

Anyone

Anyone

ok here is how u get the dials out:

disconect one of the battery terminals from under the bonnet,

next go into the car and at the rear of the center console on the floor the airbag control unit is hidden behind a bit of carpet, pull the bit of carpet back and disconnect the big orrange plug

undo the 2 torx screw holding the air bag on

remove the steering wheel bolt and steering wheel

remove the airbag spiral contact unit and then the indicators stalk unit behind it

now u can get to all 4 screws of the plastic surrand thing

finally undo the 3 remaining bolts behind this holding the dials in adn disconect the two wires at the back

danboy 28th March 2007 13:27

looks absolutly mint... with the kit you's have bin talking about of ebay.. does it create the same effect also ?

Predator_R32 28th March 2007 17:09

got mine done today will get pics up later :y:

couldnt get to the needles bulbs, got them off but could i hell get into them, so i did the battery, oil, fuel, headlights, engine management, indicators, handbrake and the digital display, overall its really easy to do worst part is holding them in place, you really need a steady hand

cheers steve ill rep you when i can :y:

Mystic 28th March 2007 17:42

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/10-SMD-SMT-PLC...QQcmdZViewItem

kingmerf 28th March 2007 20:47

cheers mate will i need to buy more than 10?

Predator_R32 28th March 2007 20:51

yeah mate i think its 16 you need, unless your wanting to do the whole thing and that would mean about 30

kingmerf 28th March 2007 20:54

what do i ask for from maplins then? lol

stevenet15 28th March 2007 21:00

not all Maplins stores sell them. If yours doesn't then you can buy from ebay. Citroen don't sell the blue ones, they will only sell standard.

Predator_R32 28th March 2007 21:02

just get them mate there cheap enough and he delivers really fast :y:

but if you ask at maplins ask for SMD SMT PLCC-2 LEDs

cheers for the before and after there steve, think the 1st pic was with the green glow on, i was thinking of taking the plasma ones out but then i thought nah its different :y:

ive got a guide for a mk1 ... not much differance i would of thought

Could you post up your guide for the mk1

Predator_R32 28th March 2007 21:13

mk1 are just bulbs instead of leds mate, so they will just unscrew or twist am not sure what bulb you will need though ill try and find out for you

EDIT had a look in the haynes its says once you have the dials out just twist the bulbs anti clockwise simple as that

all you need to find out now is the bulb type, which id phone citroen for, and then buy some blue one :y:

stevenet15 28th March 2007 21:17

i posted this guide up on a 106 forum and one of the mk1 lads had a go at doing it, he got some special leds that go in place of the bulbs but he said the dial filter on the mk1s are coloured green on the inside and uses white bulbd so when he put the blue ones in it made the green filer go a rank green/blue colour the he said didnt look nice at all

Predator_R32 28th March 2007 21:19

lol so mk1 you probablies cant do

stevenet15 28th March 2007 21:21

yeah prob not but someone should check but i dont think u can as the 106/saxo bits are normally the same part

Predator_R32 28th March 2007 21:29

could always put the mk2 dials in but its a lot of work so you may as well buy some plasma dials

kingmerf 28th March 2007 21:32

rite thanks you lot ill just get them off ebay

Predator_R32 28th March 2007 21:34

easiest way mate, hes really good with the delivery i ordered mine on the saturday night and got them tuesday morning so should only take a few days and will be in time for the weekend :y:

stevenet15 28th March 2007 21:35

yeah i ordered some for my mate so i can do his, ordered them on wednesday got them friday

Predator_R32 28th March 2007 21:37

i thought he forgot to put them in lol, then i seen them stuck on the invoice :)

stevenet15 28th March 2007 21:46

lol yeah tiny little things and produce so mich light for what they are

richo 28th March 2007 22:10

Well after a few difficulties getting the bloody things out have finally completed it.

I have for sale blue led's if anyone needs them in batch of 16 (loads left over).

Please view pics below, thanks to steve for inspiration well worth it.

Looks awesome mate! cant wait to do it now! im scared about the needles tho! and putin them back on!

stevenet15 28th March 2007 22:25

looking good richo, makes it looks so much fresher then the old dull green style, i would have done the green light tho to keep it all blue but thats jsut me being picky. good work

richo 28th March 2007 22:28

Cheers guys.

Really liked the green being a different colour for some reason.

The blue is a really fresh colour, i also have the blue furio interior so finishes it off.

With the needles you are fine, just make you sure have long headed pliers for the smaller needles.

And i placed my petrol one back wrong, so need to change that back.

Definately reccomend doing it.

Once again cheers Steve for writing the guide.

stevenet15 28th March 2007 22:33

no worries mate, more to come yet with the rest of the dash, i got a bit of the center dash dials out but its green filtered with a white bulb. i have tried to use some chemicals to take the green filter off but it takes the rest off so no good so still woking on it (lucky had a few spares for previous scrappy visit) but i will try and sort it and look at it this weekend and get some stuff posted up as i am busy the next few day refibishing my alloys

Predator_R32 28th March 2007 22:52
