certainly is mate... already sourced a quaife from a mate for a BE box, next is to find the correct box with decent sport ratios.... any recommendations??

nazmitocak 20th April 2013 07:48

What Kind of Fuel Pump ?

jsdvtr 20th April 2013 07:58

Going for the colin satchell BE mounts?? I think there something i will at getting in the future, engine sitting level.

Im not sure if all 1.6 8v have same ratios but similar to a vts MA box iirc, could be wrong though.

Which models and cars have the BE box on a 1.6 8v? doesn't the CS be box mounts require more chassis modifications?

We had the wheels sand blasted to tidy them up...

Aly 22nd April 2013 09:11

I never knew you could get a BE box on a 1.6 that's news to me. I must say there is daylight difference between them to an MA, my 206 HDI had a lovely BE gearbox the gear select was perfect never felt notchy, felt very refined like a BMW.

You haven't been looking very hard have you Aly? The boosted boys have been running BE boxes for the past few years on the TU engines... Lol

Good to hear your experiences... I've seen the internals and there is a huge difference compared to an MA box tbh

LEE_VTR1 22nd April 2013 11:41

thats cause hes used to reading out of a hymnbook josh in his choir boy band :P

jpsaxo 22nd April 2013 13:15

Lol Lee!

Also got the spacers sand blasted :)

nazmitocak 23rd April 2013 18:08

Did you upgrade the oil pump, if yes How :)

jpsaxo 24th April 2013 14:40

It's not the standard j4 one... That's all I can say

You want an 8v 1.6 from a petrol Picasso or Berlingo. No chassis mods required to fit. Bolt straight up/in (engine mounts are a little different).

Nobody likes a show off Martin ... ;)

And it's only a "little" mod anyway huh? ;)

Really impressed with the build, makes me want spend more on mine lol

Awesome Ross, any recommendations for driveshafts and wheel bearings etc that will need changing?

Roughly what speed would i be doing at 7,000rpm with that box?

Would love to Martin, If i was in the UK id definitely consider it. But I really cant justify it with me being out of the country again now for 10months of the year

Cheers mate, your the one that has James old chassis right?

welshpug 26th April 2013 20:01

I would highly recommend having a chat with Colin about the BE box mounting kit and shafts.

Shafts need to be custom shortened BE type, though I do think there was mention of 206 shafts fitting with original hubs, as the engine is shifter 20mm towards the nearside to give equal shaft lengths and better weight distribution, access to timing belt, also inner CV to chassis clearance.

Bearings would be standard Saxo/106, drive flanges depend on my comment above, typically a turned down BE drive flange pressed into standard Saxo/106 hub and bearing.

Regarding the gearbox, there is no standard TU-BE4 box that'll have that great a set of ratios, the one that Ross mentioned isn't too bad, but there's plenty of stuff you can swap into the casing easily enough to make something up that'd suit.

That's not what i meant Josh. I meant I never knew Peugeot/Citroen fit BE boxes to 1.6 from the factory.
I thought they only come on the HDI's and the GTI's

Awesome, I will talk to Colin about his BE box mounting kits & ill probably get his to do the shafts / hubs etc for me too. Does his kit require chassis modifications? (the one I saw when I picked my engine up from Sandy had the gearbox mounted off the passengers side chassis leg)

Any recommendations on what can be used to make the gearing better for NA? are we talking off the shelf stuff or quaife kit once off jobbies?

Cheers for your help so far :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Got my wheels and spacers back to the painters.....

Got the last couple of engine bay brackets powdercoated too :)

e8_pqck 27th April 2013 09:15

70mph was about 3000rpm with the be box. I'm using one out of a Picasso. I'm unable to use the let brace now though.

Box, shafts, upper mount, speed sensor, intermediate bracket, 1.8 petrol drive shaft and Picasso drive shaft was bought for 159 delivered. Lower mount from Garry.m on rally Reg was 65, machined be hubs 50, washers for hubs, 20, torque link for lower mount was 20, 2 wheel bearings 40. Then got upper mount made and drive shaft adjusted by Martin.

MR_N 27th April 2013 11:03

Quick question, what spacers are you running? Thinking about getting some for mine but always had something against them.

xsi16v 27th April 2013 11:33

The reason the box had a new mount made off the chassis leg is to keep the engine and box level. Buy a kit off the shelf and it'll be on the piss :drink:

Ok interesting, ill definitely need something shorter than that. Is yours 'on the piss' though? I'd rather do it properly if I'm honest and get Colin's mount fitted to make sure it's sitting level :)

They are hub centric mate so no really issue with them, nice and light too. They are 5.7kg including paint and spacer, compared to my pro race 1.2's which are 7.5kg per wheel. So a decent saving of 1.8kg per wheel. If you multiply that by 4 that's alot of weight off the drivetrain

Lol Matt! Yeah I've been told that before, I'm assuming if Colin's made the new mount that means there's no way to get it flat without some fabrication work? As I said above I'd rather do a proper job that have it on the piss of I'm honest lol

dannygti 27th April 2013 14:51

It's easy to get it sitting flat but Colin's kit makes everything better..

artuan00 27th April 2013 15:48

Read thru all these pages over the last couple of days. What a car. What a build!

tweeqd 27th April 2013 21:22

Josh ians sits flat but i completely cut out the old mount and fabricated a new one welded to the chassis leg

john-paul 27th April 2013 21:56

How did your walbro fit the pump assembly ?

Will you be going to USC at santa pod this year ?

Yep but requires chassis fabrication, in which case I might as well go for Colin's kit tbh. And while I'm at it he might as well chuck his front suspension kit on it too. Has he finalised the rear suspension kit yet?

Thanks matey. 90 pages - and this is not even the original project thread lol

Yep I assumed that was the only way to do it. In which case I might as well do a proper job on it and get Colin to put in his BE mounting kit I reckon

It was a bit of a pain but well worth it to keep things tidy. When's USC? Ill be back in the UK for all of July... So definitely at FCS :)

jpsaxo 30th April 2013 13:26

Update:-

Just booked FCS tickets & the 2hour track time session woooop :D

AndySAXO 30th April 2013 15:18

Good luck with that session! I will not be doing a show track session again, Unorganised and over sell it normally. Well that been my experience. :(

What date is it this year? Is it at castle Combe?

Yeah donny organisation for track time was a joke. I was mighty hung over that morning from the big banger the previous night that we had so i didnt mind too much tbh lol. Drank faarrrr too much lol

Castle Combe yep - aka Sandys boosted slaying ground lol. It's the last weekend of July mate, just before I fly back to Oz, coincidence? Nope :D

jpsaxo 19th June 2013 13:48

Guess I better update this....

The gearbox out to replace the cracked gearbox casing

New clutch cover, the lightest Race clutch that Helix do. Should make it more like a clutch and less like a switch lol

All fitted...

SPA sensors fitted with Beaniemoo's loom for the SPA digital dials

And a bit more bling' too :D

Ring 3 weeks tomorrow wooop woooop :D

greyjasper51 19th June 2013 14:06

Did Power output crack the casing?

welshpug 19th June 2013 14:10

no, torque!

adamskiTNR 19th June 2013 14:30

Nothing to do with the engine. just the clutch

jpsaxo 19th June 2013 14:51

Yep mainly the clutch being so heavy that cracked the casing we believe - wont be a problem with the lighter cover plate, and BE box over winter :)

Gabbastard 19th June 2013 15:33
