Welds look great quality!

Did you know, a small spot weld like that can hold nearly 500Kg without breaking.

Prickle 28th October 2014 17:54

Shame that theory went down the pan. Seen a few people having to have their hangers re-welded on the pug/saxsports.

Because of cyclic loading, John. The vibration over time cracks the very hard brittle metal caused by welding thin metal.

Basically, that means the whole exhaust flexes constantly, except around the welds. so they break.

Prickle 28th October 2014 18:24

All the more reason to stick 4 tiny daft little spot welds on. :zainy:

End of topic.

Giraffe 28th October 2014 19:00

It just looks wrong and discoloured and stuff. It would probably look ok on an average car.

How does it look wrong though? lol. discoloured? what? average car? it's a Saxo?

This has dragged on way long enough. Sad really.

If you were smart enough, you'd realise I'm saying your saxo is above average and I think the exhaust now lets it down. Yes discoloured, brownish colour.

Why are you getting so defensive?

Lol. From behind, unless i said "here, look under" you wouldn't notice a single difference from the old to the new. So what do you suggest dave? put the old tired one back on?

Why? because it's a 3 page moan about a bracket weld, that aint any different to any other exhaust.

Those welds look well shit.

Also your door is slightly the wrong colour and the car needs lowering.

Prickle 28th October 2014 22:53

I'm not going to rise up to your level Bret. ;)

Well, i cleaned the car today, after i decided to let the DA and autsol attack it. Difference is night and day.

Giraffe 29th October 2014 17:07

Looks ten times better now there is no discolouration, and I think that takes your eye away from the welds, which now look fine.

Prickle 29th October 2014 17:11

I'm probs going to give it a few more runs over but its sooo much better now. brown marks came off on the first run. I should of done this before i fitted it tbf, but hey. Done now. Nice to see a shine :D

I think my car has got exhausts, sometimes I see them, sometimes.

Mother of god!

Look a the state of your spare wheel carrier!!! Disgusting...

Prickle 29th October 2014 17:48

Some bits do ey. Indeed Martin, it's looking tired. Tempted to get the underside and boot undersealed too (by a pro). It's finding someone lol. Any import places that do this or do they just do it to the cars they import?
