You got lucky matey? :y:

Yeah tend to check the bay more so now as my insurance is coming up for renewal and can finally get some alloys. Would prefer brand new tbh, a set went tonight and the price got so high it would have been better off buying a brand new set of wheels. :n:

Rain, and the defects.

Ahh the weather in all it's beauty.... :n:

Had to wake early this morning (8.20am) to clean the car before leaving to see the girlfriend and my best mate. However annoyingly it was raining, but it didn't stop me because my car had been sitting on my drive for a week whilst I had been away driving a huge vauxhall astra estate.

two bucket method, I have a hose that I usually attach upstairs and drag it through the front door, but last time I flooded the bathroom... so I've banned myself from doing that...

I start by chucking buckets of water over the car gradually, so that the dirt rinses off...

I don't have the best products for the sax as many of them are presents and they all do the job until money allows (which it now does, but My MOT is next month) car seriously needs claybarring and a good wax.

the Dirt:

Thought I'd show off my nasty scratches and ruined roof...

both came with the car last year... the crap on the roof sadly didnt wash off the day I brought the car home.

Now the weather had stopped raining just after I had tried drying the car and I was going to stop cleaning the car. But I ran out with my microfibre cloth and wiped the bonnet to get some polish on.

and the finished wet product...

tbh my bumpers need a bit of the back to black and my tyres do too.. but hopefully the weather will hold now.

photof*ckit takes so long....

Small update insurance and MOT time

Expensive month for me this month, just sorted my insurance out, just over £1100 so I'm not too fussed with all modifications declared :y:

Strut brace has been fitted for a while now and it has made a slight difference can really notice it has made a change now that I've had to have it off for tomorrows MOT.

Sorting out the plans at the minute, been talking to Willsy asking about a vtr conversion and a 4 stud hub conversion-obviously the latter is only on the cards at the moment and I'm saving for that, just waiting for a figure from RCD performance :y:

Cars clean and prepped for the MOT tomorrow wish the car luck :A: lol.

Sammy-Boy 8th September 2008 23:02

Good luck for the mot dude :D

Cheers matey feel like I'm going to need it with my 10 year old sax. Nearly failed last year on emissions (standard exhaust lol) Sure it'll do me proud next year, and the more I save the more I can get what I really want ;)

MOT fail :(

gash the car failed, just going to walk to the garage in the rain and pay the amount for the work carried out, will give a run down when I get in. :n:

shooorn94 9th September 2008 17:10

Wahoo three of my own posts in a row, get in!

Anyway total charge was £170.60 for the following:

Numberplate bulbs- £10

Welding repair to Offside chassis £55.00 (I don't know what this actually involved, apparently had some corrosion. Must be all the washes)

Strip and examine rear brakes, reassmble handbrake and give thorough clean - £35

Total of parts and fitting = £100

then Vat, then £53.10 MOT

I could have done the numberplate bulbs myself, but it would have been a waste of money doing a retest for £10 worth of bulbs!!!!!
I'm just glad nothing had to be done to the:

Front struts,
driveshafts,
rear axle,
gearbox

tbh!

Car feels alot smoother now, they've topped up my gearbox oil (Was running low since driveshaft incident page 3 I would think)

Fitting strut brace now and I'm off out to get a car battery for my mums astra, some gloves, goggles, and to fetch the mrs. ;)

shooorn94 12th September 2008 01:03

White car has now gone, for a nice little price too. At least I got some money for it and my mother now has her front lawn back ;) Just a little update on that stage.

Cheers matey.

Yep four stud conversion is being carried out. Had a bit of advice from willsy, just looking for the right front struts and the right labour costs for everything to be sorted out atm.

I've been in contact with RCD performance waiting for their feedback. It's just saving up and sorting out everything that needs to be sorted first.

Brakes, wheels, struts, suspension, rear axle, etc. Got the dosh just can't warrant myself spending out just yet ;)

A bloke close to home is selling VTR wheels at £130 with tyres, looking at spraying them black/white will get a chop done if I'll actually be buying them.

But I'm really after a set of pro race 1.2's in black. :y:

But when it rolls out the garage it'll most likely be on VTR wheels.

brosnan 12th September 2008 01:33

kool mate no worries, keep us updated on conver

shooorn94 15th September 2008 14:05

Wheels

Off to collect some wheels for when the 4 stud conversion is completed. Standard-ish wheels really but suit flat arch saxo's down to the ground, and it's just to get me rolling over the winter.

Do you know what it is yet? ;) :A:

So went today and picked up my first set of alloys. For a decent price with shed loads of tread on the tyres 6mm+ and barely any scuffs or marks. Need a little clean and I may decide to respray them gloss white/black (haven't decided yet) and maybe give them a rim if they're black :drink:

really happy with them, just gotta convert to my 4 stud hubs now when everything is sourced, but Uni starts soon so could be slow progress :p

Some pics:

Pics don't do them justice but ah well ;)

shooorn94 17th October 2008 18:55

Spax 40mm springs.

Dunno if I should bother updating till the strut conversion is finished and everything is sourced but thought I may as well leave a record so I can keep track... and if anyone's secretly reading they'll get an idea on what I'm doing.

Package came today. My 40mm lowerring springs arrived, Brand new Spax springs, looking for rear dampers and I may get Piggy123 on the torsion bar :y: Anyone had any experience with the spax springs? :A:

I'm also planning on debadging the front mk1 grille alot like Skorpions grille as his looks great imo and alot meaner, looked brilliant at FCS.

Some pics of the springs:

Andy_K 18th October 2008 08:10

Cars coming on well mate. Will look nice lowered on the VTR rims. If you are spraying they - do them white imo

The springs look familiar - did you get them off ebay by any chance? ;)

saxosport 18th October 2008 10:29

lookin good fella them wheels are mint condition rare find

Hopcraft 18th October 2008 17:25

Isn't it a better option to actually buy a vtr ?

I couldn't warrent spending all this money.

Theres a VTR in Daventry for £1050 54k FCSH, bargain i thought.
