yer been thinking about what you said about the engine upgrades :(. any cheaper mods that'll hit me on the door of 120bhp by april??
|
urm..... could try a 25bhp shot of nitrous? Still could be expensive though to get setup properly and fitted etc.
Gaining bhp isn't really 'cheap' tbh. Ideally I'd just hang off and try to save for some engine mods tbh. If you bought a vts engine carefully, could get all the bits, and it fitted for £500-£600 if the right one cam along. Could do it for less if you fitted it yourself, nothing too difficult about it |

TBH tho if i got a vts conversion isnt there the hastle of having to upgrade the insurance, brakes, gearbox, etc etc. I was just thinking of cams as i can get some heavy duty servicing done whilst it was being done. Etc as you said waterpump, timing belt HG, etc, etc. And if im not mistaken arnt newman ph1 cams not require a remapping of the ECU to gain there power? However i don't know if they're absolutley wank or what. whats the adverage BHP increase in a pair of P1's compared to p'3s as so far ive noted p3's are a extra £400 including the rolling road, remapping, vernier pulley etc |
unsure if my pas pump is buggered will post pic in asec if anyone wants to check which type it is as it stopped working
|
the crossmember could do with a straighten and the rad is held by custom made brackets :). However its all sturdy so happy days.
Is now fully serviced and i painted the rocker cover and changed over the gasket. :). ALSO SOME PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ASKING WHAT TYPE MY POWER STEERING PUMP IS. HERE IS A PIC IF YOU KNOW PLEASE MENTION IT SO I CAN BUY THE CORRECT ONE. CHEERS ![]() |
with the bonnet (link above) tyhat i am buying thats still in the post -.- i tend to make it look something like this. obv without the body kit
![]() i like the idea of the saxo badge just breaks up the blandness of the bonnet. Its seeing this pic is the reason i brought it tbh :) not sure of it on posi blue tho :S Thoughts?? |
Car still doesnt look too right tbh!!
I'd try and get that bottom crossmember straightened out!! Get a nice bar under it and straighten it using this. |
lol :) :P
|
yeh, I'd try and get it looking a bit more standard than that!!!
Can rent a welder from hss if you need one - is good to have a contact with a welder though to save some £££ |
The fibreglass bonnet would look mental in black on a posi I recon bud - definately will need the chevrons though mate too pull it off imo
I need to get around to doing my rocker cover as its getting a bit rusty lmao |
Yh save some £. Luckily my stepdad taught me who is a welder yet he doesn't have one of his own :( Aaron thx z4 comment and hope ur rite. Hopefully will find some nice aftermarkets in black soon to pop on :) would contrast quite well then :). Just awaiting the smoked headlamps now as I broke all clips on my other ones during the crash :(. Thinking of some rainbow sidelights for posing pics??

By the way the crash damaged my fan so im currently running with no fan :S. luckily it just sits above half way (as it did before crash) so im not worrying. However after xmas i concentrate on putting a GTI/VTS dual fan install in and popping in the power steering slab. ATM all monies is going on cosmetics and xmas prezzys :P. Hopwever if you have a GTI/VTS fan give us a shout ;) ty |
A new era
Today a nice man in a big white van arrived at my door with a clipboard. A quick signature later he landed me with this:
![]() Then after a whack on the head from the old one:wall: it looked like this: ![]() Took some chevrons of the old one to finalise it and then it finshed like this: ![]() :fcuk: Time for a brew : Job well done :) PS 15mm bonnet raISERS look silly? ![]() |
Paint the chevrons blue, get some black halos and u'll be onto a winner I think however won't it restrict airflow to the engine?
|
Yes mate it does but to cool engine I've put some 15mm bonnet raisers on to help keep heat out
|
Just a thought but won't the bonnet being raised mean that it will be more prone to getting water in the bay?
|
NOt think of that but it's raised at back not front so not as much will get in
|
I suppose so lmao but I bet the engine will get a bit hot in the traffic if theres no wind
keep up the good progress mate :y: |
Tar mate got a bonnet pin kit but cba 2 drill holes for it so I'll save that for another day
|
I recon you should get a sunvisor and some comedy stickers for the edge of the bonnet whilst its unpainted
Like the ones I shown you in pink |
Looks nice, loose the mirrors and it will be better aswell mate!

Still, kudos for keeping it on the road :) |
