Are you going to use a catch tank? Or possibly a filter for the breather pipe? I wouldn't run the breather back into the induction, well, not if you're looking for optimum power...

Disconnect it and it works fine still without moaning and flashing :) |

Friday 15th Feb
Things finally getting back onto the car now and i think/hope the end is in sight. The cam cover leak has now hopefully been solved, various options were weighted up over what would be the best method to use in resealing them. Ordinarily with there being a rubbery seal from the factory when this goes theres no replacement part available. Most people said that they just had to build up a large amount of sealent and hope it worked... I decided to take them to an engineering place to get them skimmed down so that the surface was flat and therefore only a small amount of sealent would be needed. As it turned out they werent even flat, the underside had 'bowed' upwards slightly at each end which wouldnt hae helped things. ............ The suspension legs and driveshafts/wishbones etc are all back on the car now aswel, wings are on. Still bits and bobs to do, im exhausted though and the Blokes that run the place are away for the weekend so its a welcome rest from my car, anda fresh lease of life again to carry on on Monday morning |

List of things left to do:
Fit slam panel Fit and reconnect front lights Wire up the kms display into the car Check that fan unit works properly and that head is fully sealed Recharge battery again - bigger battery needed i think Double check all the suspension and transmission is torqued up and secure Fit procomp induction scoop Attach bumper Ensure that loom is all secure, everythings attached but ive got a few brackets left that i need to see where they go Check that alarm works still Then its firing her up and taking it for a spin :) |
Well i just hope after all this hard work it lives up to your expectations.

Clearance is fine with all the parts too, the camshafts dont pertrude above the head itself and so theres no likely issue as they dont lift up into the internal cam cover space. Headbolts are fine to use standard ones too, an extra washer is sufficient to use so they dont bottom out. The bowing was the biggest concern to me, if thats a common problem across the board the more people should probably get theirs checked if they are removing their cam covers and/or they have a leak |

With the DVLA i have to send off my registration documents with section 5 completed, which includes new engine number, engine capacity and date changed.
Im changing my insurance anyway away from Direct Line with the vision of starting with one thats more performance based and mod friendly. Im yet to decide on one yet but ive had quotes in the region of just above £500 which suits me fine. Tax does unfortunately go up aswel, i think the DVLA will make this alteration for me when theyve received my reg documents. I also believe that DVLA might summon the car for an inspection to ensure that its running fine and safely and that ive given them the correct engine number. Fair bit involved when doing it legitimately which we very rarely ever see or hear about from other people doing conversions....makes you wonder how many have made the declarations of change |
