Awesome mate!
Pictures say 1000 words........:P |
Willsy - with the tax for your new engine conversion, would you just need to pay the difference for the remaining time until your tax runs out? Or do you get a refund on your tax, then have to take 6months/1year out on the new engine? I'll give DVLA a bell next week if your unsure.

Did your car need a VOSA check for the engine conversion?? It's just I put a decat on whilst putting the 16v engine in, and don't really want to have to put the cat back on!

I just dropped him £10 and asked him to spend 10mins checking it, quick 1min note and print out on computer |
Kool, I've gone from a Westcoast to a VTS liek you and was worried about a VOSA check, but I'll get along to a DVLA centre to get the engine number changed over. Thanks for your help, sorry for de-railing your thread willsy !!

Which insurance companies have you both gone with out of interest as most of the normal day to day ones wont touch engine conversions and aren't mod friendly in the first place. |
I've gone with Adrian Flux - they quoted me over the phone for the major things, liek alloys, lowering, exhaust, engine obviously. Then once I'd paid, they sent me a form to fill in with all the modified details about the car, like I put group n engine mounts, strut braces, make of alloys, tarox 6 pots, suspension kit with springs, engine number, etc.
I found them to be nice on the phone, and very helpful. I was tempted to go with Brentacre, they offered me a 130bhp limit with pretty much any mods I wanted to do, for pretty much the same price. The only reason I chose Adrian Flux was due to the finance option, the payments, initial payment and overall total repament was cheaper and suited me better. |
Also, whilst on the phone with Brentacre, as soon as he said about the 130bhp limit, I thought *hhrrmmmm 130bhp at the wheels is fairly good* but I didn't ask whether it was at fly or wheels, I presumed it was at fly as he mentioned the VTS being 125bhp standard, lol.

How much did they quote you for aswel if you dont mind me asking (Brentacre or Aflux) PM me that if you'd rather not say on the forum. |
Flux mate cant beat them
|
Try Quinn as the were a good £200 cheaper for me dude :y:
More pics needed :p Love this car to bits bud! |
I am paying £1495 - third party, with engine conversion, manifold/exhaust, lowered, alloys and bigger brakes + it being an everyday car. I have been driving just under 3 years, 0 NCD, no accidents or points, parked on driveway of a 'B' zone postcode, with just the standard westcoast security features + (any here's prob. why it's expensive) my girlfriend, 2 accidents + 3 points, lol.
Brentacre was pretty much the same, but with a 130bhp llimit. I think this ain't too bad a deal really as I havn't been driving for long, and I have 0 NCD as have been on parents insurance for past 2 years. Just aiming to start racking up some NCD now !! Plus no point in me going fuly comp as 1) I'm a student and couldn't afford it !! and 2) If I crash it, I can probably break it and maybe make the value of the car back/ re-shell it, is just a risk I'm willing to take really + I'd love to reshell!. You had any quotes on your camme'd 16v lump yet ?? I'm looking to put cams in after got 1 year NCD so will be interested how it affects it. |
Mine was £350 for 3 and a half months, including 30days european insurance (as long as i notified them when i was going) - which you'll want for nurburgring. Thats with all mods declared as per sig...
But i am an old bastard now :d Also you havent replied to my PM re address and i can send you that cheque |

Monday 18th Feb
Ill update with a bit of a description tomorrow about whats going on etc, but for now heres the pics to look at. Car should be fit to be driven home tomorrow, there is still bits and bobs to do but neither are essential and can be done from home within the next few days etc. There is still an oil leak from somewhere which im hoping to rectify in the morning. It isnt happening when the engine is off, but begins slowly and gets quicker the longer the engine is on under more heat/pressure. Unsure exactly of where its coming from, but its under the alternator in that kind of area ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I still need to fit the procomp but i dont have the right connection from the Throttle body to the procomp end piece. So until ive got one ive just got to run off the open filter - any ideas or recommendations of where to get the relevant attachment please let me know |
amazing mate
|
Will look much better with the Procomp fitted and all the wiring etc organised and hidden etc.
Looking forward to driving it now :) |
yep just wiring and pro comp to fit now and a general tidy up by the looks of things mate.
Huge transformation - Looks stunning. Are you not going to paint the scuttle black or have it sprayed the same as the spray job? looks a bit weird as it is i think... Also the coil pack cover, i thought it looked amazing before, im not so sure now. Maybe when i see it in person i will change my mind? |

Car has to be out of the Subaru place tomorrow as they have alot of customers cars booked in. So times been too short to have done the scuttle too- plus ive used it as a tookbox so the paintwork would have been ruined by now lol Coil pack cover perhaps just needs a clean, the whole outside of the car is a disgrace, greasy smears and road muck from before work started etc- Big wash when it gets home |
