I'll try and get down for that. Don't think I'll run, it depends on money and the car a bit nearer the time.

I'll stick it in our calender now so I don't forget. :y:

Enjoy! :D

Looks great, what was the decision for the backbox running along the bumper?

edbar1 6th September 2014 18:16

I thought it was designed to fit a standard type exhaust?

Correct

The dampers run horizontal, so the exhaust has to pass through the middle of the boot floor, below the central pivot point for the dampers :y:

hard_corejoeboy 7th September 2014 11:34

Looks like it goes well at the ring! But how fast was that Focus RS at the beginning?!

The suspension looks amazing. Hardly heard any tyre squeel at all on the corners you would usually expect it and only one instance of understeer. Real talk though and money aside was it worth it for the cost?

I see, just seems a shame to compromise the exhaust but is uppose the only way around it would be internal fuel tank...
Looks great

welshpug 8th September 2014 08:35

its not a compromise, its a simple solution to an obstacle created by improving the suspension by vast amounts.

edbar1 8th September 2014 22:47

Yes and in doing so you are going for a less than perfect path of the exhaust.... so it is a compromise.
I'm not slating it or the car in any way I was curious to the reason that is all.

is there a reason you are posting with two different accounts ?

footage looks awesome JP !!!

edbar1 9th September 2014 10:28

Yes my dear because my new account is edbar1
My old one which I no longer use the email address with is edbar

edbar1 9th September 2014 10:39

And sometimes I automatically type my username without the 1 as that's what it is everywhere else

jpsaxo 11th September 2014 02:17

Cheers guys :)

There's certainly more lap time to come off that, I'm confident we can get down to 8:20 ish

Edbar1 the only "compromise" is the each 1-2kg of weight from the exhaust. It doesn't effect power in any way. In fact id go as far as saying it's better now as we have been able to put a larger back box on it so no worries about noise levels now at all.

The suspension kit is epic, to the point where I'm taking corners a gear higher now due to the apex speed being so much more than before. Which is obviously down to having much more grip.

welshpug 11th September 2014 11:35

That is a comment sandy has made iirc, many cars running his engines no longer use very short final drives as they have enough grunt and more often than not coupled with a very well setup chassis

106maxi 11th September 2014 17:28

You can use the push rod rear with a Pug Sport if you so wish.
However, Mr Preston has a custom designed exhaust which suits both the engine and chassis set-up.

hard_corejoeboy 15th May 2015 23:24

Whatever happened to this?

jpsaxo 6th June 2015 00:02

It's still progressing Joe...

hard_corejoeboy 6th June 2015 16:41

Just without pictures :)

jpsaxo 26th June 2015 00:31

At Joe's request...

Winter updates...

PFC expo...

New rear beam

My alternator gave up the ghost in the Swiss alps last summer so we replaced that for a brand new one

Main upgrade over winter was to upgrade to AP racing brakes

This set up included a custom made "Spacer-Bell" that Satchell Engineering did an awesome job in making for me. This means my front wheels are now a direct fit, and dont require the need to run spacers so means less rotational mass.

MOT time; so shes now ready to rock and roll for another summer :)

One last thing;

I thought i'd chuck up a quick picture of my daily drives here in Australia. The Honda CR-V sport bus, and my John Cooper Works mini which gives the Holden v8's a good run for there money over here :)

I'll try and keep this up to date over the summer while im back in the UK. Cheers!

hard_corejoeboy 26th June 2015 15:07

Finally! Mini looks cool! You gonna bring it back to the UK?

jpsaxo 27th June 2015 18:51

No mate, the mini will stay over here. As a daily drive it's got more than enough grunt, and all the creature comforts (including heated seats, no idea why you'd need them in Aus!).

I've had the mini for just over a year now :)

Ross 27th June 2015 19:12

Is it much slower with the turbo removed?

rushy_23 27th June 2015 19:56

Good to see the Saxo going strong josh.

Hope all is well over there, and the family are cool.

Yes all going well thanks pal. Are you still in the middle east Rush?

Yep saxo is still going strong, still enjoying it (apart from the clutch!) lol

Alanapone 12th July 2015 08:50

What are you plans for this years visit Josh. I'm going to make more effort to come for a visit this time. I'll even drag Sam down if he isn't working lol.

nicole_ 13th July 2015 18:50

those bells are awesome! :fcuk::y:

jpsaxo 14th July 2015 11:20

first plan is to get the braided fuel lines fitted Alan. After that I need to go down to Satchell & Sandy for a day each to get the chassis & engine checked over.

Then the plan is a track day end of July & lots of road miles before the ring tip middle of August :)

Alanapone 14th July 2015 20:02

Sounds good buddy. Keep me up to speed with any plans I may be able to tag on to. I'll make a concerted effort to come down for a catch up this year. :y:

Good stuff, no left Saudi couple of years ago now. I've only just managed to re-acclimatise back to the UK lifestyle (not sure if that even is a word).

I managed to find the comments on FB in regards to the brake upgrades. You say these things squeeze under your 15's? Mental.

Im suprised DannyGTI's setup fits under his 15's as his brakes are huge too.

Both very nice setup's

I again went back to Wilwood for my EK9 brakes, in two minds what to do with them though as I hear the standard 9 brakes are really good. So may sell for now then invest in an upgrade later on if I feel the need.
The 9 is by no means as mental as yours or Danny's car.

How long are you in the UK for? I wonder if I can rope the guys into a weekend catchup. Has been ages.

welshpug 22nd July 2015 11:22

what size disc have you got there? a friend has a 310mm disc with a Renaultsport brembo caliper under a 6x15 compomotive mo and a 10mm spacer, I think they would fit under a 7" wheel without a spacer! just...

Definitely sounds like a plan Alan, I should be doing a track day in a week or 2 weeks time if you fancy it...

Yeah I know what you mean by getting back used to things again Rush, it would take me a while to jump back into the UK life style after being used to it being sunny and warm almost every day and all year round in Aus.

Those Facebook comments made me laugh tbh, people went way over the top and took it personally/too serious.

I'm back until the end of August... Definitely keen for a catch up if you can sort something, let me know.

It's not the disc size so much, it's the size of the calipers, they are huge! I wouldn't be surprised if these brakes will make rear wheels come off the ground haha

tazmania_0345 25th July 2015 17:45

The amount of work gone into this car since the first time I seen it is unreal love the fact the tints stayed

Alanapone 25th July 2015 19:20

Yeah, let me know and I'll see what I can do.
