Have you tried going down like a slight hill?, Thats were i did it. As for speed be inaccurate, i use these things that are in 30 zones, you know the big thing on lamposts (my speedo out by 2 mph)

Please just read the thread... it's obvious the saxo speedo is out throughout the range when my dial reads 60mph a satnav will read 55mph etc. you are not doing the speed you think you are.

Yes the 1.1 is nippy, but going over 20mph in first and you are doing serious damage to the engine.. some of you seem to be changing gear too late and will end up with no engine if you continue :err:

A 1.1 will struggle to reach 103mph anywho and with standard 1.1 brakes I hope to god you can stop if something comes out in front of you.

this is the most ridiculous thread on here at the mo.

116 mph iirc. Speedo will prob show 120/125 though. On most cars the speedo is miles out at these "autobahn" speeds :)

they definately do at least 122mph... a member of my family was clocked by the police, averaged over 2 miles.

Karl 16th February 2009 13:27

someone had 122mph out of a 1.1i?

Werent there a newspaper article once of a Saxo VTS getting caught at 140mph?

Tbh from what i know and what i have been told.... i aint gonna be revvin mine up to shit like yous lot. Wouldn't mind getting it a wee bit nippier like but....out on the roads? whats the point? So many hidden cameras nowadays n you're pretty much fucked if you're caught doin over 40 in a 30 zone so ill let you's lot take your chances but im quite happy with my 1.1 tbh!

rowza 26th February 2009 12:59

lol110+ on a 1.1 :| my 1.1 iv had 105ish out of it and that took ages to get there,ALSO i felt like the car was going to explode so wouldnt evan want to push it more..... for people saying 100 in 4th and that bull shit, i can get to 60/70 quite easy in 4th without redlining it 5th it struggles to get to 90

Jscott91 27th February 2009 14:40

isnt the saxo 1.1 0-60mph in 12 secs? very good if you look at other cars in its range

Well 117MPH is fucking fast for a 1.1. (only went for about a mile) No, i never hit the limiter BUT car shock like made (little 13" wheels). I turned the radio down and car was almost going to explode. I didn't have a rev counter at the time but i guess VERY CLOSE to red lining it which is catastrophic failure. Never again at those speeds in such a small car. dose it no good.

I found Sat Navs are out. The signal has to go From sat nav, to satalite back to sat nav and takes a second to do so (millions of miles away) so i'll guess the signal will be a second time delay.

BTW, Breaking at such speeds is scary, the back end all goes wobbely :panic:

Can we get back on Topic now please (Although i'm not bothered about making it faster now)
