Gave the awaiting exhaust a Polish and clean on the Tip, and midpipe.T'was a right state before. Chuffed with how it looks now in comparison

ed-bradley 2nd December 2011 21:59

:)

Just waiting on a Decat pipe now before I can get it on. Can't effing wait tbh!

Sophia_Bush 2nd December 2011 22:23

once this gets a bit of running in it will pop and bang on command

Simon0014 3rd December 2011 14:41

Sir I believe I owe you a 5 sheet haa. Come and collect when you wish ;)

Exhaust looks tasty! Love how you have it on the kitchen top!! lolsibub

saxova 3rd December 2011 14:44

I have the same backbox as that!

Is that all OMP exhaust though? Lurrrve the raspppp mine gave. Even on 8v's.

ed-bradley 4th December 2011 01:32

haha, I'll hold you to that Simon..If we ever meet :D
Lol, No way I'm putting it on the floor! Atleast its not gonna get dirty or damage on the kitchen top. And mothers not here to tell me otherwise ;)

Yeah Brett, all OMP. I'm still not sure which system it is though, Inox? or something. The backbox 'looks' to have been painted black, as some of it I've polished off on the tip. But yeah, I'm chuffed with it. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like!

Tom5190 4th December 2011 01:43

looking good, have you already bought a de-cat?

ed-bradley 4th December 2011 01:46

Cheers man :)
I haven't mate no, I'll be after one within the next couple of weeks though. I'm uber skint at the moment though, and need to re-tax it this week to which blows ass.

Ok mate well ive got one here if you want £15+ P&P (be about 5-6 for postage i imagine). stainless just been removed from my car. Its got a small dent and scrape from it catching on speed bumps etc but nothing too bad.

ed-bradley 4th December 2011 01:55

Ahh Sweet, I'll take that then. If you wouldn't mind holding it for a few days/week?

Tom5190 4th December 2011 01:57

Yea mate just give me a shout when you want it :)

So are you driving this now?

ed-bradley 4th December 2011 02:01

Awesome, nice one :)

Nah, unfortunatly not. The tax ran out the other day, and I didn't know how soon I would get it running so I sorned it. I'm going to tax it on Tuesday once i've been paid.

Although, i'm gonna have a cheeky nip round the block tomorrow once I'm back from the NW meet, as I need to bleed the coolant, and see how it runs. I haven't even driven it off the drive yet. So I'm unsure whether it'll work 100% -_-

Im sure it will be good, you need to have faith! i started installing mine at 10am with a 300mile drive planned the next morning! when i left work the day i did mine i didnt want to get out like i loved it.

Simon0014 4th December 2011 08:22

Thats fine with me a deal is a deal after all!!

Yeah I was thinking hmm bet mother would be pleased is she saw that haha!!

ed-bradley 5th December 2011 17:09

Got the car back home today, Running.

but, running badly.

Was alright when I 1st started it this morning, but I had to take the top half on the inlet off to connect the Servo hose, and now its Mis-firing. I need to change the plugs anyway, so I've ordered a set. If that doesn't cure it I'll test the coilpack, and injectors I guess.

saxovtrmk1 5th December 2011 17:53

double check you havent desturbed anything sensors on trotlle body etc seems strange that it was ok and now isnt after you touched that matey. the coilpack was nearly new iirc.how did it go power wise?

ed-bradley 5th December 2011 17:56

Iye, I think I may have forgotten to put the Vacuum hose from the fuel rail back on. Lol
I'll check the rest of the sensors though too, and everything else i can think of.

Err, power wise I've no idea, The brakes were god awful. The servo hose must have popped off or something, as I drove back home with no servo assistance so I didn't even contemplate going over 30 Lol. But it deffinatly feels alot better, even with a misfire!

saxovtrmk1 5th December 2011 17:57

i forgot to put a hose on my mates vtr after clutch change just breather on manifold was revving like fuckkkk haha

ed-bradley 5th December 2011 18:07

Haha, must be something to do with that then, I remeber pulling it off to try and sort the Servo hose out anyway. It did rev right up when I turned it on a couple of times, I pissed about with something and it sorted it to some extent.

flanders010 7th December 2011 16:51

Thats looking good now mate!!! it does sound good!!! very good hehe

ed-bradley 7th December 2011 16:54

Thanks mate! Came up really well I think, any blemishes that are there aren't that visible anyway, not that I'm arsed anyway haha.

I'm dying to hear it now, I've got a Fitting kit on the way and a lad has sorted me a Decat so I can get it on. Just need to sort out this Mis-fire then I'm away :D

It's still taking the pride position on my Kitchen counter anyway, don't want to get it dirty again, took me an hour or so to clean and polish the tip and Centre pipe Lol

flanders010 7th December 2011 17:00

and it looks quite discreet when on the car. i'm hopefully soon going to get my hands on another saxo and have it as a project!!! or maybe even as AX? not sure yet??

ed-bradley 7th December 2011 17:06

Ahh that looks awesome on there! Sits perfect in the recess :D

sam_16v 11th December 2011 13:24

ed-bradley 27th December 2011 00:22

Small update for over Christmas :)

So, turns out engine was on its last legs pretty much which would of contributed to the running issues (Some i still have).

Whipped the head off and gave it to my Mums parter who works at Rolls Royce machining Trent engine parts. The head was warped slightly on one side it turns out, after he took it too work to work on. So I sourced another and he skimmed, tested and rebuilt it for me. All good :)

Replaced the head and gasket, Fired up..Running on all 4 at last!
Or so I though anyway. Took it out for a short drive, didn't boot it for a while.. Kept it under 3-4k, Was sluggish and hesitant alot. I thought it may be down the the lambda, as its not in the manifold, but still plugged in, just tied up.
Turned around and headed home, thought I'd try putting my foot down.. Put my foot down, got up to speed pretty nicely, then Boom..Started misfiring when I got to 4k+ revs. And didn't stop misfiring.

Now, I no I lost servo assistance too around the same time, as I've had to somewhat bodge my servo hose on due to having a snapped lug, so its a thinner diametre at the Inlet end, So I think its that and it may have popped off.
I've sorted another top half inlet anyway, so I should be alright for that. Wont be here till later in the week/next week though So i'm stuck until then.

I also though it may be down to only having 3/4litres in the petrol tank, with it sloshing to the back maybe? or due to the fact I've still got a 1.1 fuel pump?

Anyway, enough of that shit.
I've bought some 283mm Calipers and Discs from a 307. 30quid :D
Sorted a set of Wishbones & struts from a vts as I'm going 4 stud now. I already have a beam, so thats good too :)
Wont be starting that until late january though and once my engines running decent.

Tom5190 27th December 2011 02:40

You compression tested it again? definatly did the correct torque settings and degrees in the right order when you put the head back on?

Bad news like! hope you get it sorted

ed-bradley 27th December 2011 11:17

Yeah, compressions all even and decent. All torqued up correctly etc.

Just seems something else is playing arseholes now :D Haha.
I'm sure I'll get it sorted soon.

ooh, that reminds me. Do you still have that Decat?

Aw well atleast you know its not the head which is always a bonus. You taking this to fast show?

I dont mate sorry a lad bought it off me a week or so ago

ed-bradley 27th December 2011 23:08

Ahh bummer, no worries :)

yeah, thats one good thing to be honest I guess. I'm certain its fuel related though, Injectors are fine so it seems. Only thing I can really think of is either I've got the fuel hoses on the wrong way, or because of the lack of fuel in the tank its sloshing about and the pump may be taking in Air at high revs..possibly.

ed-bradley 27th December 2011 23:45

Fast show. I'm not sure, Where and when is it?

I'm going to FCS though, and shall be in this..maybe. Dependant if its still alive by then anyway :D

ed-bradley 3rd January 2012 15:47

283mm Hur hur hur

New brakes, arrived today.. Slightly weary of them now though, people said they were going to be heavy..but fuck me. I nearly dropped the box with it all in when the Delivery guy passed them too me.

Also ordered a Decat and exhaust fitting kit so I can finally get rid of my wank standard exhaust in favour of the OMP one.

Sorted a Top half inlet manifold from Sam_16v aswell :D So that should cure my poor running, or some of it atleast.

sam_16v 5th January 2012 23:55

ive sent a 100 percent working inlet and if post office dont deliver it to you by saterday i will shoot them they have pissed me off this week fucking about those brakes look sweet will they fit 14's or has it gotta be 15's

ed-bradley 6th January 2012 12:48

Nice one mate! Yeah 15's I believe. Just need to find some average 15's to fit the new struts :D

Its just the Inlet and the Exhaust letting the engine down now I believe.
Exhaust I had on as a temporary measure has had it. It was from my old 1.1 and was blowing like hell from the manifold joint and the rear centre section. The exhaust had sagged in the middle and the rear outlet was sitting against the inside of the bumper- trapping the exhaust gases.

Thats what I believe was causing it to misfire slightly yesterday, and run quite shit..
Still waiting on a decat I bought last week..Until then I can't really drive it which is gay.

sam_16v 7th January 2012 00:10

hopefully be running 100% soon mate :y: cant wait to get mine done saxovtrmk1 has come to the rescue with new engine:)

ed-bradley 10th January 2012 16:45

Todays/last nights failure..

Resulting in this mess..

Caused by this..

Gearbox thought it would be funny to shit its drain plug out at 70. Shit loads of black smoke from the back, from what I now assume to have been the Gearbox oil all over the exhaust. Drove ok though for another Mile until I got home. It was only this morning that I saw the oil all up the back of my car that I had a look under the car. Good job I suppose.

ed-bradley 10th January 2012 16:51

Good news is, I've put the new exhaust on after recieving a Decat finally :)
Sounds great, although I seem to have a noisy manifold.. its not blowing from what I can tell. Just seems to be more noise from there than the Backbox! Maybe its cracked, meeh.

heading down to a peugeot garage in the morning to see if they have the gearbox plug. As nowhere seems to have them, and the nearest citroen garage is about 15miles away.

Cam 10th January 2012 16:53

Ed your having to much luck with this! :(
