As i was saying to a few people at the weekend and to Graham earlier the most frustrating bit is that it took:

2 weeks to get the old engine out, engine pay painted, new engine in and getting it running the first time. That was all work done myself and by Laurie (gf's dad) just a few hours work per day aswel spare time.

And then since then its been nearly 7 weeks of just rubbish problem after problem which is out of my hands and capabilities.

The oil leak was an absolute pain, should never have occured had the place put the head/bottom end together with the timing right in the first place

Then the mapping has taken a while due to having to take the time finding out where the problem is and eventually identifying that its a faulty part thats been supplied. It happens to the best of us unfortunately but its such an inconvenience to all involved and a big drain on the finances.

Graham at Xspec has been immensely helpful and supportive throughout. Massive thanks to him

I just hope its every bit as worth it when i take it out for its first proper drive

yea it gets you down a bit
i gotta say though from the seek peeks ive had its going to be worth it
and i know ive said but im willing to help out with little bits (when i can walk)

and having some1 like graeme helping out is definatly a bonus
he definatly knows what hes on about

Just a thought... You don't actually need a stepper motor do you? :ponder: If you get the car to running temperature, then set the throttle so that the idle is perfect, it's end of story. However, you will get high revs during cold-start.

motobruce 7th April 2008 23:34

After spending 6k on the engine and 1200 on kms i dont that would be a very good option, getting rid of the icv and manually setting the throttle. Obviousley he wants this perfect and that wouldnt be!

Toad 8th April 2008 12:26

In theory, it's not such a bad thing...

jpsaxo 8th April 2008 23:56

AlexB 11th April 2008 19:46

Toad 11th April 2008 19:48

Worrying mate. Seems like he's decided to drop the KMS idea then...

AlexB 11th April 2008 19:50

well i know the origonal is coded so he cant use it

Toad 11th April 2008 19:53

How confusing! He raises a For Sale thread, but doesn't mention anything in his progress thread. How damn inconsiderate! lol

AlexB 11th April 2008 19:58

i know

willsy 14th April 2008 10:33

Ill post a bit of an update soon.

KMS is going. No offers on it yet though :(

beardy 16th April 2008 10:37

wow that took a long time to look though, nice work tho was well worth the read,

Are you taking her to FCS?

motobruce 16th April 2008 11:11

Have you driven your car long distance yet? i drove mine on the motorway and after about 40 miles at 75 it started burning oil then when i put my foot down it would stop then come back again after about 5 miles.

Didnt know whether the skimmed rockers could have brought them down too far and is drawing oil in through the breather the engine side of the throttle butterfly. I have the other breather in a catch tank.

RedB 16th April 2008 11:25

Sell me that Procomp and i'll think about making an offer on the KMS ;) :P

AlexB 19th April 2008 22:47

when i was at xspec earlier i had a lil sneaky peek
and took some snaps

hope you can get it sorted soon man

DavidKent 19th April 2008 23:25
