sounds interesting, why wont the plate go on? most people with bodies and filters still use the metal baseplate.

cant even run small trumpets then no?

MaRiO89 29th January 2009 23:18

I guess Carb's are different Ryan..The car runs lovely with just the filter, probably better than when on only trumpets..We are happy with it..:)

Ryan 29th January 2009 23:34

carbs are totally different due to not having injection :P..

was just an open question over it as I would have still expected that longer inlet tracts give similar gains.

Foggy 30th January 2009 06:58

We are running the baseplate / filter setup with small trumpets. And arse to fit where it is, but with the longer trumpets we would have had to change the bulk head layout causing more problems getting it logbooked because of the need for the fire-proofed bulkhead regulation...

You would be able to get the small trumpets under that filter setup if needed Jimbo....

Just remember to clean / oil that filter regularly, especially later on in the season when it starts getting dusty, as its the oil which traps the dust and stuff not the filter material :)

Not getting too nervous are you with just over a week to go...... lol

Get out in a car with Mark and get him to drive around while you tie and untie your laces keeping your head down.... Good practice for not being sick LMAO.... :y:

Pipercross say to either run there socks which go over the trumpets, or fit the baseplate and use there domed filter. Thats what ive done as i think it will be better and make it easier to clean as its one big filter rather then four little ones.

All is to plan now, so its a matter of fitting mudflaps and sticking event stickers and car numbers on and were ready to roll.....:)

As im not fortunate to have a lock up or anywhere undercover to keep the car thought it was time to buy a cover :)

MaRiO89 4th February 2009 09:08

That cover rocks..

MaRiO89 7th February 2009 22:48

The event was unsafe.... zero grip even on snow/ice tyres...

Car was spinning the front wheels in 5th, so decided to call it a day beore damaging the car... Not happy, but it was the only choice...

Rally Report:

The rally comprised of 8 special stages..All based around the Goodwood circuit..The weather was cold, but very clear and dry..We decided to go quite steady on SS1 and SS2 as it was all a very new experience to both of us..Despite this we caught an Evo during SS1 who started 1 minute ahead of us and we got held up for alot longer than we would have liked..We lost around 10 secs here..Despite taking it steady and being held up we finished SS2 in 20th position overall and 5th in class which we were very happy with..

We attacked harder during SS3 and SS4 and after these two stages we pulled back time on the 4th position car in our class and the 3rd postion car (a 205 GTi 1.6 had engine poblems and retired)..After that retirement and some good stage times after SS4 we were 4th in class and 18th overall..

We kept pushing, chasing down the car infront of us in our class, during SS5 we took 12 seconds out of the car infront and a further 15 seconds in SS6..During the last two stages we took even more time out of the car infront and we had secured 3rd in class by 25 seconds at the end and 13th overall..

We had one moment where we ran two wheels onto the grass on an exit from a chicane but this wasn't major at all and that was our only real drama of the day..

The two car's which finished ahead of us in our class were serious pieces of kit..Had we been alot quicker on our first two stages we may have been able to challenge for 2nd in class..This wasn't a prioroty though as we wanted to finish mainly..

We had 2 interviews, one with motorsport news and another with a chap who is making a DVD of the event..

Mark will be uploading all the onboard video's from all the stages this evening, there was alot of glare on the front windscreen so the footage isn't ideal..You will get the jist of what the car is like and how hard we were pushing at times though..

Thanks to all those who helped service and who have helped get us this far! Hopefully the goodluck will continue!
