Sorry to bump an old thread, but would White inserts look good on a black Saxo?
I'm going with the black and white theme. Just wondered if it would look good or not. Any comments would be great! |
Personally no, no offence..
Different though |
I agree with tring...think it would look gash. Why not get someone to photoshop it for you?
You might like it |
That's what I thought too guys, will need to but some more black paint then, lol.
Thought I'd ask as I only have white paint left at the moment, lol. Cheers guys. |
Thanks for the guide :)
Great tut thanks
can the mk 1 headlights be done atol?
Done mine atlast! Nice guide :)
![]() All i'll say is.. be careful when your putting the headlight down, try not to rest it on the bottom lug where the bolt goes through as it bends.. I found it out the hardway and when i bent it back it almost snapped off |
Thanks alot for this, helped alot :)
managed to melt my fogs trying to get the lenses off and want to find the courage to do my headlights. can some1 tell me do we pre heat oven or not?(didnt think id ever ask this on a car forum lol)
is it not possible to heat the glue with hairdryer?? |
I'd love to do this but I think i'd be more comfortable using a hair dryer as said above or even a heat gun

You can use a hairdryer and knife but will probably take alot longer.. my mate did it that way and said he cut himself to pieces lol |
cheers for that mate i mate get brave soon then :S
Thinking of doing this myself, would colour coding them to match my wicked red saxo work?
looks good might give it a try soon nice one mate :)
right silly question cus ive notice my lrear lights have started to do this,
if u seperate the lights and then put them back together do you not risk them letting moisture in and going funny?? |
if they let moisture in you need to either take the lens off and reseal them with some transparent sealant or something like, or if you can just put them near a radiator to dry out and put abit of sealant in the gap where its lettin it in if you know, if not just put it all way round :y:
Thank you very much!! you don't know how much this helped!!!!

the finished lights look very good (Y) shame about the reflective parts being illegal though and nice guide
One question.. this might be really stupid but how do you glue it back again? you use the same glue that was already there or do you have to buy a specific type of glue? :S
cheers |
nice guide mate thanks

you want it to be waterproof as other wise you'll get moisture building up on the inside of the lense. |

Going to follow this at the weekend, I think you could do this cheaper tho as the laquer and primer isnt needed in my opinion

I want to do mine black, But scared i might pain the wrong bit and make the lights become illegal, So what part of the light am i ALLOWED to spray so they are still road legal and will pass the MOT! Thanks!
glue!! everywhere!! LOL done though. got some glue inside the glass.. DOH
Wow colour coded everything looks smart!
very tempted to try this, will wait till after mot in a few weeks
is ther no other way to separate the glass apart from the oven?
heat gun but its a bitch, much easier in the oven
mate amazing post cant believe you got a bad rep just no pleasing some people :homme: anyway yeh great post is there not alot of talk about something cracking though ?
will this work for the phs1 lighst ?
Very nice!
Great guide mate did this last week but my oven is fan assisted so i melted the bottom half of my cluster haha luckily i had a spere in the shed was only in for like 3 mins then i smelt burning plastic then looked to find the bottom drooping down aha live and learn eh.
Its your car mate.
But Im going to be blunt here. The reflectors of hallogen headlights are so Important to give off a good light. They also deflect the heat coming from the bulb. If the heat doesnt blister the paint then the plastic will possibly melt/warp.Painting over them is daft as daft can be. Itll fail its MOT in a heartbeat. Not to mention how proper xenon bulbs are ilegle without projectors. sorry dude, Im out. |
