I'm not 100% sure mate, I know he's done ALOT of modifications to the head that your normal engine builder wouldnt bother with, the small changes make minimal difference, but when you add up all the small differences they = a big difference :)

This JP4 head had screw in gallery plugs already, most of them have and I tend to use them in preference to the ball bearing ones, for the ease of cleaning. There are several details in the engine solely aimed at ease of maintenance and cleanliness as well as cost effective and easy to source consumables etc. I like dialling in stuff like that to make life easier at a later date, comes with a warm, smug, satisfaction!

scottie_436 12th August 2012 10:59

Ahh.. Didnt know that! My jp4 has the ball bearing head, all ive seen have aswell. I thought it was just j4 that had plugs

My bad :)

Holy shit thats cool

Mathias 17th August 2012 13:14

What figure you reach? ;)

rich112 17th August 2012 19:52

Amazing :)

Sandy309 17th August 2012 19:59

I don't quote rollers figures generally and from about 7200/7300rpm the fuel delivery wouldn't increase, so the AFR was getting worryingly lean and nothing I could do to make it right. Fuel pump and/or lines likely to blame. The race cars I have run this engine spec in before have always had non-standard pumps and tanks. I think I'll leave figures for now, I only really trust engine dyno results these days. It's a nice engine and I'm proud of it!

What really pleased me though, I asked Josh to do a brim to brim economy test on the way home and it gave 37.9mpg!

To me thats what a permance engine should be... Right there ready when you need it!

And 37.9mpg!! Who says tuned engnes are expensive to run!!!

Well done that man :clapping:

scottie_436 18th August 2012 15:55

Yep, at least another 1,000rpm before the cams reach theoretical peak power :)
