Shit sorry mate missed your reply. Yes it will be painted.... after the ring because I dont want to paint it and then go drilling brackets etc out once im home which will then wreck the paintwork.

Toad 13th April 2010 14:12

What colour? :D

jpsaxo 13th April 2010 14:18

Mango of course :D

Toad 13th April 2010 14:23

of course....Not. Keeping it semi practical otherwise it will just piss me off tbh. Me & dad have come up with a smart idea for easy removable door bars for the cage as well :D

No point in having them in for a nice sunday drive, or the drive to the ring. But then once at the ring or a track day, wack them on, simples....

Toad 13th April 2010 14:58

Removeable side bars? Meh. You need more practice at getting your leg over. ;)

:D

Sophia_Bush 13th April 2010 15:28

looking good Josh the S&M cage looks good

jpsaxo 14th April 2010 13:44

Sophia_Bush 14th April 2010 15:31

haha yeah in the Ford Ka of love with the "NOS"

Toad 14th April 2010 15:35

Ah bummer...

jpsaxo 16th May 2010 12:51

few more pics....

old FD vs new one

Newer 9 ball bearing type bearing replacing the older type bearing

And finally the mango eyeing up its new prey :D lol

So the gearbox is all done, dads just putting the bits and bobs back together (like the procomp etc) today.

Cage is due to arrive tomorrow and will be going for fitting asap. Seat bars will also be welded in so I can ditch the subframes.

Along with that i got some cobra Alu lightweight sidemounts from Scott (thanks mate) to go with my cobra seats.

And a couple of 5th point harness spreader plates to be welded to the floor at the same time as the cage to connect the 5th point of my harnesses to.

Cheers

Josh.

Chr15 16th May 2010 12:55

Wow, fair bit of progress Josh.

Cage looks tasty.

younglassXSi 16th May 2010 13:15

wow love your car!

Toad 17th May 2010 08:49

The gearbox looks very tidy. You'll love the difference the higher FD makes. :y:

AlexB 17th May 2010 10:45

Yeah its not too bad considering its only dad doing the work this year. Cage should add some nice rigidity, but not add too much weight!

Thats the plan Alex, its going to be pretty quick once dad get its remapped to 260bhp tho!

AlexB 17th May 2010 13:58

It won't be a match for the derv though
pure trooper car

IMO you should give the old girl a thrashing at the ring not your car!!

jpsaxo 22nd May 2010 12:09

Lol @ the derv, that thing just keeps going and going, awesome motor, especialy for all the bumps in nuneaton!

webby 22nd May 2010 17:39

agree josh i love my derv 10k's worth of abuse and happy.

Sophia_Bush 22nd May 2010 18:53

hows the beach?

car is nice

jpsaxo 17th June 2010 01:26

progress :noo:

Here's some pics of where its at so far. Most of the main cage is done (tacked into position), just waiting on materials to do the extra work that Josh has asked for!.

Matt

J222JRA 17th June 2010 08:51

RB87 20th June 2010 14:41

I've been following this on shed, absolutely love it!:y:

jpsaxo 24th June 2010 06:43

After a 70 mile around trip i picked up the chrome moly tube to finish the cage off today. Ive also added some harness eyelets on spreader plates as requested by Josh.

Here is some pics of it finished.

Wooooop :D

Olly 24th June 2010 07:05

Love it! Looks great. Bet you cant wait for 2 months time now?:)

you going to be painting it for the ring?

jpsaxo 24th June 2010 08:35

Nah it wont be painted for the ring Olly, will just brush some primer on it for now, don't have time and want to remove all the brackets and soundeadening etc before it's painted - will be doing a proper job with our spray gun aswell

I'm thinking mango for the interior and the cage in gloss black, what do people reckon?
