is it a mk1 or a mk2, the mk1s use bulbs not leds so u cant do the mk1s but u can do the mk2s, if u have a mk1 u can get plasma dials from matrix racing and there is antoehr company but for got the web address

marvvtr 9th June 2007 16:21

citoen told me to get new clocks bout 6 months ago wish id seen this b4 i fitted the new clocks wudav done cuz i sprayed the black surround silver it aint very hard to take the unit apart its dropping the steering wheel to get them out og the car is the hardest part
jus dont snap the plastis clips they can be brittle

shane2007 15th June 2007 14:12

i have some led for my dials.but i have read all that and iam not doing it .looks too compliacted to me lol

Predator_R32 15th June 2007 14:36

its easy mate honestly :y:

get some spare dials to practice on first, just take your time soldering them and use some paper to mark which way the led goes

shane2007 15th June 2007 14:38

orite.i thought you would just have to take off the thing and put a a bulb in lol

Predator_R32 15th June 2007 14:55

have you checked yours is actually leds and not bulbs??

shane2007 15th June 2007 14:56

http://www.redlinemaxed.co.uk/car-li...ed-2-pack.html

there them

gt a 1.1saxo. P reg.1996

Predator_R32 15th June 2007 15:04

ahhh so led bulbs right :y:

basically you will have to buy some dial faces as the standard ones have a green filter on them which wont come off, steve has tryed and failed, so the only thing you can do is get some lockwood dials or plasma ones

shane2007 15th June 2007 15:06

where do u get them and how much?

is there anywhere else i could have them in car?

Predator_R32 15th June 2007 15:10

well you could try getting some mk2 dials to fit, but think there a different shape and you may have to trim them to fit

lockwood dials from http://www.directcarparts.co.uk/buy-...2193_2195.html

and plasma dials from www.visual-performance.co.uk

shane2007 15th June 2007 15:11

well expensive

Baynesey 25th June 2007 18:11

jaykay001 29th June 2007 22:50

you have red leds in the centre, these are for the needs, would it be possilbe to put other colour, such as white or purple? or do they need to be red?

the needles themselves are red though so it wouldn't show up.

scott

Predator_R32 29th June 2007 23:23

the led is actually in the needle bits, you can take the needle off but cant get into the box that the led is in, i think there tamper proof for some gay reason

CloSaxo 29th June 2007 23:34

now ya tell me! lol, ah well its give me the experience of takin my steerin wheel off! :y:

Predator_R32 22nd July 2007 14:09

you do have to take the steering wheel off sometimes mate, i told people to drop the coloumn down to get to the 2 torx screws as the bottom of the surround, and got people saying it didnt work and they had to take the wheel off, anyway my wheel is a snap off one so comes off in seconds

also when your taking them out it sometimes scrapes on the coloumn and scratches the front

did your car have 2 screws on the bottom as they may have been taken out

yes i took the screws out, once they were all out i turned the wheel a bit one way pulled the clocks half out and then turned the wheel the other way and voila (and no scratches :p ).

johnnyg_vts 22nd July 2007 15:25

by the way Predator_VTR, i LOVE your avatar!

Predator_R32 22nd July 2007 15:26

hmmmm your car must be just special then, because my wheel had to be taken off to get to the screws the first time i did it, ive now left the ones off the bottom of the surround so makes it easier in future

yeah a lot of people love the way i dance :p
