Im glad the lancer register is restricted at work, plus I can't view ads when home as not a paid member, its saving me alot of money! I dont get overtime so don't matter what hours I do, but I do get about 23 quid a day extra for being at sea, so that helps! Not going to be making any changes to mine for a while.

Hello there!
Went up to Leicester today to finish off fitting of the loom into Joshs car.
Thought I'd start off with a picture of the new fusebox with the dash in place

Next up made sure all the wiring was correctly rounted

Then, in with the controversial, heavy carpet

I then fitted the wiring clips to the exposed rear sections of the wiring

Then the obligatory picture of Joshs car

After a lot of thought from myself, I couldn't bring myself to route the feed from the battery where I had initially planned to as it just wasn't going to look very nice, also I wasn't happy with where I had put the earth (all problems caused by not having the car itself when building the loom)
So after some 11th hour adjustments to the loom, it's now finally in and pretty much all working.

Josh's dad had his battery tray but you get the idea

Unfortunately flat bettery prevented me from starting it up, but the fuel pump is priming

Did manage to get a couple of videos of the Spa being alive

Only issue I found of the whole wiring loom is the fog light wiring plug wasn't the one that I thought it would be, so ended up in a female female situation, So I'll arrange getting a plug and your dad said he'd happily fit it for you to save me a journey

Cheers for looking

Moo

Cooorrrrrr... Now that's pretty fecking cool!!

Good work Moo! :y:

jpsaxo 4th March 2013 10:50

AWESOME Beanie :D

Did anyone notice the custom greeting I had programmed into the dash on the first video?!!

Having the 3 original fuseboxes combined into one nice aftermarket fusebox fit in the OE place is so tidy, easy to get to as well!

Also cheers for poping the "controversial carpet" back in mate lol :)

Coming along nicely.

Not so keen on the taped loom though, Convoluted tubing looks much neater and plenty of different fittings to choose from not overly expensive either.

The loom was the longest part of my build, looks 100 times better than factory though.

LEE_VTR1 4th March 2013 20:01

More progress on the loom is looking awesome fair play beanie! things here are looking fantastic!!

We could have done the loom in the tubing, but as the loom is safely under a carpet and also, I like the idea of trying to make it look as factory standard as possible. So decided to stick to taping it.

Josh I like your welcome on your dash, does look smart, the was the whole idea of making that video to show you. Though not sure if perhaps a Knightrider style, 'Hello how are we?' might have been better lol.

Will post up your fuse designations up when I get a second. you can note them down, and its handy to have them online as you'll always have access to them as long as you have 3g reception on your phone.

Yeah it's basically taken 2months to do the whole thing, its amazing how long these bits and bobs take & i dont think people really appreciate it until theyve done it thereselves. Obviously beanie has just been doing his normal job and doing this job in the evenings inbetween many other things

Cheers moo - ill save the fuse diagram info to my phone so I've always got access to it should I need it, I'll print it out and keep it in the glove box too :)

That greeting would have been funny but glad you like the greeting, it's come out nice - I'm happy with that :)

Cant believe I havent commented on this thread earlier. I had a good look around the car at Bolton Abbey a couple of years back, Will you be in the country this year? Awesome update with the loom im guessing you cant wait to get it on the road when you fly over.

Also whats the red string for that goes from the rollcage to what I presume is the boot? If it so you can close it from the inside?

jsdvtr 5th March 2013 07:14

Why the change of the clutch? Is it too much for the road.

I would love to have a race dash for mine, they look awesome.

Wow! Yeah a lot has changed since a couple of years ago mate, not least the main part of the car - the engine :)

Yeah I'll be back for about 5 weeks in total from the very end of June (just in time for the silver stone f1 ;) ) until the end of July. Got the ring trip planned and also a couple of track days + maybe a few days in Scotland or Wales if the weathers decent!

Yeah I can't wait to get back and enjoy the new engine as I only just finished it before having to fly back to oz last year, had a quick 20min "shakedown" on track @ trax to make sure everything was working as it should be :)

Main reason is that they supplied us with the wrong one, but by the time the engine was ready I didn't have the "couple of weeks" they wanted to change it. So this year hopefully they can supply the correct one and it will be much easier to drive on the road and not so 'on or off' if that makes sense?

Very kind words mate :)

Credit Sandy for the engine, Mark for sorting the chassis, Beaniesport for the loom and Sam+Dad & Me for doing all the trick bits & putting it altogether - let alone funding it all lol. But it's my hobby and helps me get up the morning!

With the V8supercars starting the weekend just gone and the F1 on in melbourne next weekend I've been watching a few of my videos to get the enthusiasm going again

8:55 BTG ring lap with old 160bhp engine

&

Silverstone Trax having some fun with the new engine (skip the first 4mins of video as they are just installation laps)
