Update: New stealth parcel shelf and boot build (plus more snow)
Woke up this morning to a good 6/7 inches of snow, so i thought i'd do something productive today :A:
Snow: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Firstly made a re-inforced parcel shelf, which i cut holes in and covered with ice black carpet. The underside was meshed to protect the Vibe Slick 6x9's which were put underneath. ![]() as you can see, it looks standard from above :) ![]() The speakers were then screwed onto some black MDF and then screwed to the underside of my parcel shelf. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I then got out my extensive blueprints for the boot build, which was drawn at work :P ![]() I planned to build a false floor which hides my wiring kit for the sub and also incoorperated a hideaway cubby hole to house my loose bits and bobs. False floor was cut to size, and my dad and I screwed a runner near the edge to keep the scissor jack in. It was then trimmed in black carpet. No progress pics, just the finished result :) ![]() I also had a cold cathode neon accent light to put on the underside of the parcel shelf, but my cigarette lighter stoppped working. As you can see below, the 6x9's sit underneath the parcel shelf and can't be seen from outside. The sound is still good because only the mesh and thin carpet covers them :y: ![]() This pic shows the runner we made to house the jack ![]() We threaded a rope puller through the top of the cut-out section for easy access. ![]() As you can see, the section is practically invisible against the rest of the floor. Tight as a ducks arse. ![]() This pulls away revealing my odds and sods. ![]() ![]() Finished result :) ![]() Before: ![]() After: ![]() |
hopefully new rear diffuser, gear knob gaitor surround and possibly GMax 50m lowering kit to come this week. :)
|
Still not sure about lowering it though. Seems like it would put added pressure on the drive shafts..and it's just reached 100,000 miles.. cant really afford to fork out for any more repairs, specially after i've just bought new clutch and gearbox!
What do people think? would it be worth it? |
It WILL be worth it, it'll look 100000000000x better lowered mate. It honestly makes that much of a difference, not just in looks the handling would be a lot better also. Just a subtle 40mm wont add too much pressure to the shafts. Good updates aswell Ben, done a really good job tbh.

I likes it :y:
