we was talking about this last night

a cammed s makes 155 at the fly?

the vtr bolt on supercharger kit with intercooler makes 140 - 155 at the wheels apparently (gmc website)

it was to do with money/ bhp ratio and what you could get for the amount matt will spend on his engine compared to me on an r

I think saying a little accident wih the oil is a understatment matt.lol what kind of idiot removes an engine from a car without draining all the fluids.lol even in the oil cooling pipes there was fluid.lol

Havnt got the new cams yet, but i do need to get hold of some pretty soon :)

Josh keeps telling me the best person to contact is the guy from GMC (John?) as he'll hopefully give me all the setup advice i need and id be looking to buy a KMS from him too and get the mapping done there.

Ill make the phonecall probably Thurs/Fri this week as im away Mon-Weds for a few days.

Ill let you know the result :y:

Are you looking for just the cams? Ive been advised to change the followers on mine aswel whilst im going about it

Predator_R32 23rd July 2007 00:14

yeah john at GMC is a quality bloke :y:

MaRiO89 23rd July 2007 00:26

Coming on well mate..should get out in the garage and do some more to mine..lol

willsy 23rd July 2007 01:07

Just been having a good look through the GMC site tonight and found a few interesting bits.

How beneficial might this be? Im tempted to get them to do it and stick in the 708's with followers etc before sending it back to me..

Heres the info:

Cylinder Heads.

GMC Head Work (TU Engines)

We open up the exhaust ports, open valve throats & narrow valve seats on inlet and exhaust. Shape port round 90-degree bend to give full flow. Valves contoured around seat area. Rebuilding with competition springs, is suggested and costs £42 extra. Head skimmed up to 2.0 mm as desired.

8v - From £450, 16v - Fropm £600

We now stock modified heads ready to fit, which means for those who wish a quick job need not wait for their head to be modified. All you do is ring us up when the head is off and we arrange for collection, when we receive it we give it a check over for serviceability and despatch the modified unit to you. In the event of a returned head being unfit for service without extra work or is scrap we will contact you to advise

could be looking into massive money man...

what are you planning... VTS with cams? or with TB's too?

I can imagine the benefit of doing such things with TB's and more aggressive mods... whats Josh done?

2mm skimming on the head :omg:

are you getting new pistons too? i.e rebated?

PS im only spamming tbh.

willsy 23rd July 2007 01:41

I have a rough idea of what i want based on discussions so far with Josh, i think he plans to do more headwork in the future if i remember correctly.

I think more will become clearer once ive actually spoken to John.

Im aiming for anywhere between 160/170ish bhp and then ill be happy so whatever it takes to get there is when the modding will stop.

TBs is certainly an option for next year perhaps but the car wont be going down the SuperCharger or Turbo route

johnnyg_vts 23rd July 2007 08:05

this is a great read, nice to see it coming together.
good luck dude.

spencer_cammedvts 23rd July 2007 08:06

2mm skimmed!!!!!!!!

i had 12 thou (0.3mm) and was told that was a lot! lol
