Red vs Adz21

After meeting Mattchewone earlier in Crawley
http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=114778
I made my way over to Adz’s house and we got started about 10.30am

I have to admit that the VTR wasn’t in bad overall condition to begin with at some first sceptical glances…

Despite the obvious dirt and general grime lol…

A couple more for you…

State of the door sills…

Adz wanted everything done basically so I started on the engine bay first if all
Using CG (Chemical Guys) Heavy orange degreaser and a 500ml spray bottle, I sprayed the mixture liberally over the whole bay and left to soak for 5-10 minutes
(picture lighting isn’t the best lol)

The alloys also got some degreasing action whilst Adz contributed by hoovering the interior and
removing the mats to clean them up…

I then popped my head inside to have a look at the interior…

The whole dash, doorcards, trims and plastic around the seats and boot was all treated a heavy coating of Meg’s High Endurance Gloss applied to them to clean and restore them to a bright glossy finish that Adz’s thought smelt a bit like ‘lush bubblegum’ lol, love this Meg’s products as its good on lots of areas and lasts a lot longer than other products I’ve used

The degreaser had been left to soak before each surface was wiped clean with Microfibre Cloths and every bit of plastic was treated to some WD40 whilst the engine rocker cover was wiped with Meg’s High Endurance Gloss along with the fluid covers and air induction housing to bring back the gloss and shine…

Before…

After…

Out came some of my kit to give the whole car its first wash using the 2 bucket method, a Sonus Sheepskin and a Meg’s Microfibre Washmitt, Turtle wax suds mixed to a very thick mixture to start with

A few snaps of the car just after washing first time…

Adz thought it looked a lot better at this stage after just the first wash and i agreed but there was much more to come yet lol

RedB 2nd December 2007 03:24

I think that these alloys would look the sex in gloss white tbh

The whole car was then clayed using Meg’s Quik Detailer and clay with Sonus clay used for the second and third passes on the
bonnet, roof and the worst affected areas…

After being clayed the car was washed down again using a lighter mixture in the second bucket and then dried with
an Ultra Plush Miracle Dryer (great product) to reveal a ‘smooth as glass’ feel to the paintwork

Detailing tape came was whipped out of my kit bag to mask up the tricky areas such as trims and gaps that you
wouldn’t want polish anywhere near...

Adz hard at work using the UDM combined with Sonus SFX-1 polish, 6” pad before moving onto a 3.75” inch pad
on areas which needed the most attention such as the roof, parts of the side panel and bonnet before moving
onto using SFX-2 swirl and scratch remover polish along with the Sonus enhancing pad again also working
with the spot pad on areas to eliminate blemishes and imperfections in the paintwork

Adz trying to whistle I think!?…

I was already very impressed with the results that had been achieved after the first two stages of polishing and
starting to see the metal flakes popping out from the ‘Mauritius Blue’ paint which imao I loved

And also a deep, wet, glossy look even before I had began to apply the final stage polish to enhance the finish…

I think at this stage Adz was sitting down admiring the car and tucking into a Maccy D’s after using the UDM for less
than 10 minutes lol

After looking over how the whole car was beginning to look I went on and used the UDM to apply a coat of Sonus
SFX-3 Final finishing polish and then another layer of Auto Glyms’s Super Resin Polish and again I was extremely
impressed with what the results were by just combining the two…

That last pic was taken before the car was finished, but a few hours after that once the alloys had been polished
using Metal Polish, Sealed with a few thick layers or Poorboy’s Wheel Sealant and the whole car buffed until all of
the remaining polish had gone, to gleam with a really deep-wet, uber-glossy finish it was dark! :fcuk:

No pics were taken of the car that night as it was so dark but Adz’s mum loved the feel of the paintwork and Adz
was absolutely amazed at the results after I had finished

Here is one finished pic of some beading the day after along with mine to show how good the finish was on both cars…

Looking good mate, shame you couldn't get more pics after machine polishing dam winter and getting dark early :P. Nice write up You said poorboys degreaser - you meant Cg :D. Looked like you did a good job though!

Why do you put a layer of SRP after the stage 3? Does it just "work" well with the sonus range?

Wayne 2nd December 2007 12:12

great results red:y:
