My Daily - Focus gone, now 307 Hdi 110(+) Pics P10

Picked this up over the weekend to replace my Volvo as a daily driver :p
Spent all today cleaning and polishing it up but the heavens opened by the time i got the camera to take some photo's - hence the poor shots:

Its a Focus 1.8 zetec mp3. Pretty standard except 17" pro-race 2's, spax coilovers and a stainless backbox. I'm pretty chuffed with it tbh.
Will get better pics later.

SaxoAlex 22nd June 2008 22:48

not bad, not bad

SaxoJamie 22nd June 2008 22:52

looks nice mate :y:

Andy_K 25th June 2008 22:19

Not happy. Can you spot whats wrong in this picture?

How about this one?

One of the rear springs snapped yesterday on my way to work. Not a great start to fous ownership lol. New springs are being ordered tomorrow so it should all be fine by the weekend. It does look quite good slaaaaaaaamed though:

Saxo-Will 25th June 2008 22:22

rust ftl... typical ford...

but yea, looks good... all that matters!

Andy_K 25th June 2008 22:25

lol. Though they were all about the build quality lol.

Springs are uprated - not ford parts so I'll let em off that.

Steve 25th June 2008 22:26

lower it while your on man ;)

Andy_K 25th June 2008 22:30

its already dropped on coilovers mate. Can go up to 70mm lol

Andy_K 7th July 2008 22:57

Got a little package today:

Got a new pair of rear springs to replace the snapped one. Decided to replace the other one as well as it looks pretty buggered tbh:

Will get them fitted one night this week. Also got a couple of C spanners and a new adjuster nut so that I can soften up the coilovers and set the ride height. Think I'll go -45 to 50mm for everyday and -70mm for shows etc.

Andy_K 7th July 2008 23:03

Got all these from Silverstone Tuning. Great service tbh. Ordered friday - on my door step today :y:

Also started on the boot build. Spend a lot of time in the car so I want a decent sound system. New head unit arrived last week. Speakers are on order and already have a sub and couple of amps. False floor is still to go in over the amps, along with acryllic windows.
Speakers are going to be 6.5" components in the doors. Need to make some tweeter pods for on the back of the mirror covers, or see if they can be built into the a-pillars.

So far....

Got my eye on a new front bumper, and sorted a few little niggly bits like the rusty brake callipers and drums with a lick of hammerite. Will clean it this weekend and get piccies up when the boot is done

saxowebby 7th July 2008 23:24

lol fair play to ya mate. taking on another project, hows the vts

Andy_K 7th July 2008 23:30

lol this one aint such a big project - just want a tidy everyday car. VTS is coming on slowly. Donor car is nearly stripped and ready to go. VTS bodywork is practically done bar the front morettes.
Have spoken to a bodyshop about painting it. The guy seemed up for it, and he can do a good job as he has just done my mates polo and it looks nice. Getting him round to give me a quote soon. Also going to talk to another shop for a comparison price.

Andy_K 21st July 2008 20:39

Some progress...

New rear springs are fitted and the car is all road legal again.
Finally got my front component speakers in the post this morning - MTX TXC6.1's

Been collecting various wiring kits and an adaptor harness so that the new headunit will still work off the steering wheel controls:

Will be off to get some dynamat in the morning and then getting all this little lot fitted, including the JL Audio sub and amps and some rear speakers.

Ah right, cool. It was a lady who owned it last, according to the log book.

rob_s 21st July 2008 20:59

yea must have been passed on since

was a lad who had it when i last saw it,cant think of his name now, maybe matt or something

was a nice car anyway!

Andy_K 21st July 2008 21:02

Yeah it seems nice so far, bar the spring lol.
Good choise of mods he stuck on it :y:

Adam_Q 21st July 2008 22:06

Looks lush man! Wouldn't mind a focus myself :)

Wheels really do it justice too!

Andy_K 21st July 2008 22:09

Cheers mate. I'm surprised how good it is to drive tbh. You can throw it around the back lanes just like a saxo. Its quite nippy as well - it feels quicker than my old vtr, but obviously not as quick as a vts.

Cheers mate :y:

Did a bit of work today on installing the new stereo. Old headunit came out, and then i stripped all the seats and doorcards out to make access easier. Gave it all a good clean with AG Interior shampoo as it was a bit grubby:

Then Dynamat'd the boot and doors behind the speakers (thanks to Source Sounds in Sheffield for a good deal on the Dynamat) and then made spacers to allow 6.5" speakers to fit in the doors (original speakers are 8x6")

Original plan was to fit 6x9's in the stock position in the rear quarters, but they wouln't go in without cutting a lot of the panel out, which I wasnt prepared to do. SO I went and ordered a pair of Pioneer 6x8's which are arriving tommorrow :y:

Also made tweeter pods into the mirror covers as I couldnt find anywhere else to stick them

These were then fillered and are now rubbed down and in primer, ready for rubbing down again and spraying.

More photos when I do a bit more.

Adam_Q 24th July 2008 20:10

Looks great fella! tweater pods will look lush too :)

Andy_K 27th July 2008 22:30

More progress...

New Pioneer 6x8" speakers tuned up thanks to Autotek in Sheffield. Got them fitted in the rear standard positions and wired them to run from the headunit with new higher quality wiring.

MTX 6.5" components fitted in the front doors with the crossovers cut into the foam inside the doors:

Also finished the tweeter pods and sprayed them satin black for a stock look:

With tweeters fitted:

And with grilles fitted:

And finally fitted back in the car with doorcards fitted:

Sub and amps are all fitted, but a new false floor is needed and it still needs trimming:

wallsy 27th July 2008 22:59

Excellent work, done a good job there.

Like those wheels aswel. :y:

Andy_K 27th July 2008 23:00

Cheers matey :y:

MikeReay89 8th August 2008 10:22

future plans??

Andy_K 8th August 2008 18:47

New front bumper to replace the standard one as it is damaged and stone chipped all over, strut brace and possibly mudflaps. Then thats pretty much it. Unless I see some cheap reclining buckets seats or big brakes. Also want some black headlights off the ST170, or failing that some black angel-eyes.

Its only a daily drive. The VTS is the major project so I dont want to be spending ££££ on this one.

Andy_K 12th August 2008 21:58

Few little more bits and pieces done tonight:

Front wiper blades were well past it so they have been swapped for new flat wipers:

Whilst I was at it I swapped the rear wiper for a smoothed one off the new shape Focus:

Yes its very mucky but I cant be bothered cleaning it at the minute as I am doing a lot of travelling this week.

Also swapped the wiper switch for one with a variable speed intermitent speed. Stripped all the steeling cowling off and then it just clipped out and the new one clipped back in:
Before

During

After

Unfortunately it doesnt seem to work (despite it supposedly being a simple plug in upgrade) so a little research is in order to find out whats up with it. Tommorrows jobs will be to trim the boot, and fit new spacers behind the front door speakers because the ones I made are poop :homme:

Andy_K 12th August 2008 22:00

Also it still needs lowering a little more, just so it looks nice lol:

Will get round to it next weekend I think. Coilovers just need adjusting down slightly all round.

gaz4399 13th August 2008 21:37

Todays jobs are to smoke and de-tango the headlights, fit new rear wiper motor and then give it a clean and polish ready for Trax tommorrow. Hope the weather holds out - It ain't raining at the minute!
