>>> TwoTone Mauritius R <<< Written off :(

I've had my Saxo for over a year now so I thought it would be about the right time to create my progress thread.

It bought the car for a knockdown £450, with 95,000 miles on the clock, 15" TSW alloys, alpine head unit, Vibe Slick 400w 6x9s, peco backbox and an pipercross (i think) air filter.

Here it was as i bought it.

The first thing i did was respray the interior trim components, the vents, the speaker grilles and the center section were all flatted off and sprayed silver.

Next I had to sort the engine management light and give the old girl a full service, including oil change, oil filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, new front discs and pads all round, topping up all other fluids, and a general clean up of the engine bay. Ran injector cleaner through the system and also a new gear knob, number plates and lexus lights  were fitted shortly after.

Next I thought I would upgrade the standard sound system with Fli Componants with directional tweeters for the front and a 1000W Fli Active Sub with built in Amp for the boot. These along with the infamous 6x9s sound quality, and im really happy with them :y:.

Next i repainted my calipers from yellow, to blue, and my rocker cover blue to keep with the theme.

More to come tomorrow, its taking longer than i thought lol.
:zainy:

Decided that the blue was too light, so re sprayed in Dark blue

Elliott 30th July 2008 23:03

Looking good mate.
Remove the lexarse lights and lower it and it should look good imo. standard lights ftw!

benJee_VTR 30th July 2008 23:05

Next i bought a smily grille from an ebay shop, and sprayed it blue, as i thought there was a bit too much silver going on the front end

from this

To this

benJee_VTR 30th July 2008 23:06

gave her a good wash and polish (Autoglym Deep Wax)

benJee_VTR 30th July 2008 23:07

Next, went standard with the lights, and smoked them to my taste :)

benJee_VTR 30th July 2008 23:09

Then removed the door pillar tape :)

benJee_VTR 30th July 2008 23:10

Got shot of silver wipers and refurbed originals as they were flakey

from these

to standard :)

Ben 30th July 2008 23:13

Mileage probs

benJee_VTR 30th July 2008 23:16

Next step was window tinting. Used self tint which came out perfectly, just requires patience and a steady hand :) Gives quality results :y:

Bought saxperience stickies :D

benJee_VTR 30th July 2008 23:20

Still coming lol, bare with me :)

benJee_VTR 30th July 2008 23:23

It was cheap because the guy who i bought it off got done for drink driving and couldnt afford the insurance. MOT was nearing and tax was running out so he wanted a quick sale. It was originally up for 1200 but i got it for 450 in the end :)

benJee_VTR 30th July 2008 23:25

Next i bought some VTR alloys from Aterro (cheers buddy) to replace the TSWs.

Ben 30th July 2008 23:27

Again lookin a lot better everytime you put new pictures up :D

benJee_VTR 30th July 2008 23:27

Unfortunately, the wheel bolts were completely wrong and looked shabby anyway, so i invested in a brand new set of shiny bolts.

one in

Much better :)

Refurb alloys (maybe change colour to anthracite/white/polished)

Let me know what you guys think.
cheers :)

Ben 30th July 2008 23:45

How about a little MK1 or MK2 spoiler to it? :P De wipered? Badges removed? 40mm is good man, mines down 40 perfect imo

benJee_VTR 30th July 2008 23:49

hmm yeah i like the sound of those ideas, i am fancying a spoiler like you said... i did consider de-badging the rear... how do you lose the holes without fillering and respraying? or are the holes not really noticeable?

Dewipering is a possibility...

Cheers bud

Predator_R32 30th July 2008 23:50

not sure on the two tone on it really, badge on the grill off, the rocker needs spraying and not painted with a brush lol

benJee_VTR 30th July 2008 23:50

Cherry foot air freshener ftw :P (2nd from last pic)

You would deffo need to get them filled and resprayed, otherwise you could just spray them a different colour, or tcut them black. But yeah the holes are noticeable so i wouldn't just pop them off. Cost me 70 quid to have it done. Yeah people keep tellin me to get mine dewipered, but i like my wiper, may get a MK2 one as they are better looking!

Yeah i painted it with a brush the first time with the light blue, then sanded and sprayed the second time dark blue... could have spent more time on it but im quite happy with it :)

I wasnt sure on the two tone, but it's grown on me and i love it now, was gonna get a respray, but its really different and looks lovely when its cleaned and waxed :)

Yeh same, my rear wiper is quite handy lol but mk2 ones are a lot more modern and clean looking... i might tcut or spray the badges temporarily as iv got other things to spend money on atm :)

benJee_VTR 31st July 2008 00:05

Before I bought the VTR alloys i got a few photoshops (cheers Saxokid) done to see what different alloys looked like with colour coded bodykit.

Then someone did this one for me lol

Aaron 31st July 2008 00:57

benJee_VTR 31st July 2008 18:01
