my wethepeople lofi bmx *snapped now a fly 3 amigos and a vid page 7*

im bored and after a thread on hobbies i noticed there were a few bmxers on here

my bike was in peices after a few bits were borrowed by mates whilst i wasnt riding
so i have them all back now and though id give everything a bit of a clean and put it together

i started out with my frame (lofi 20.75) and crank assembled together and the chain (a shadow half link) flapping about lol

few pics of how i spent my morning

now for the wheels (and an explanation of why there are pics of 3 lol)
i have my front wheel which is normal
and 2 back wheels
one is a proper cassette hub (normal wheel)
one is a federal freecoster (which allows you to ride backwards but does have drawbacks if you wanna go forwards lol hence the cassette)

pegs lol (4 of em) soon to be replaced with gsport plegs (xmas prezzie lol)

and the finished product

hopefully summer next year ill be back out on it and doing some silly little manouvers again

v10vts 15th December 2008 13:25

i cant ride a bmx for shit, but can do a wee bit of trials on one lmao!

CHIP 15th December 2008 16:04

I used to ride trials, was into it in a big way, but eventually i kinda fizzled out of it. Would like another bike again though. Had a BMX too, but i couldnt get on with it so stuck to trials lol.

AlexB 15th December 2008 16:38

big wheels are ghey in park/street riding though
ive seen mtb park riding (a few guys i know do it) and it looks awkward n sluggish on the ramps
and on the streets you cant double peg rails lol

pretty good for bombing through the woods though lol

its all about strenght mate
simple means less to brake and i have a spattering of titanium parts ect on there aswell as stuff like the wheel

the rear hub alone was over 100 quid

JamesR 15th December 2008 17:26

wouldnt you have rather spent it on your saxo? is it a fast bike?

AlexB 15th December 2008 17:29

i spend a shitload on the saxo anyway lol

its not about speed
its for doing stuff like this

You pay for quality. I remember went i went from a freewheel to a Profile hub, the difference was amazing! My backwheel alone stood me at about £250. All together stood me at about £1400-£1500.

As for rather spending it on car... i think you could possibly enjoy the bike more tbf. Whenever you pull off a big move, the feeling you get is awesome.

AlexB 15th December 2008 17:36

yea chip that rush is mint

rminds me im dunna find the old vid of me riding to put up lol
got the epic huck i was trying on it lol

old ass vidio where i get ruined at the start lol
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yviA_G...e=channel_page

mostly footage of my mate thorpey lol

Mochachino 15th December 2008 18:14

my bike, that i sold as parts, also cost more than my car lol

AlexB 15th December 2008 18:20

true, but then £1250ish on a mtb is still classed as entry level/intermediate standard!

Same with anything, if your serious n get into it it costs shit loads!

AlexB 15th December 2008 18:57

yea I know a guy who competes in downhill events
his bike cost about 3k iirc
but it's frigging mad lol

smiith 15th December 2008 19:11

is a very nice bike lad, clearly better than cars...

when i bought all my fly about 4 years ago, it totaled something daft like £1570, mostly because alot of the parts came from america, all ti axles, both wheels and the cranks, pedals were £75ish :/ then my fly brake was £65, dont even have it on the bike lol

AlexB 15th December 2008 19:17

looks smart man
my last bike was ti everything (even had the rnc ti sproket n stuff)
tbh after ruining a few ti parts I don't choose them as extras tbh
I ride hard and they just couldn't take it lol

smiith 15th December 2008 19:20

my cranks are RNC, they have never failed in about 4 years now :) i dont run pegs, so my axles can take it :P last time i had pegs on was about 2 years ago, even for street i like it without, finding mad verticle wallrides, then go into whitby park and see who can do the tree ride and get highest.
Quite hard trying to go straight up a tree :P
