The Gold cammed 1400 VTS

Hello, my name is Tim, i'm from The Netherlands and I'm the proud owner of a gold saxo 1.4 VTS for a few months now. 1.4 VTS? yes it's a common model in Europe allmost simular to the furio or the westcoast in the UK,

When I bought the car it had run 80000 km and allready had some nice mods. The car allready was lowred, I've looked under the car a few times but I can't find out wich lowering kit was used. There also where some nice alloys: 15" CMS Nemesis with michelin 195/45 15V78 tyres. Under the car there where allready a supersprint cat-back centre pipe and a Supersprint Magnum backbox installed. At last there was also a GT136 alarm system installed.

I've been doing some mods myselve:
- Raceland 4-2-1 manifold
- Raceland closed induction system
- Sebring stainless steel decat pipe
- Compbrake quickshift
- De-pinned the doors
- Upper front strutbrace
- Some ICE: Kenwood KDC-BT8041U head unit, 2 x MTX XT502, 2 x MTX XT693 and a JBL BASS PRO II active subwoofer

Some pics:

And a movie how it sounds:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=537lk...e=channel_page

Things to do:
- installing a VTR TB whit inlet mani
- Replacing the raceland air-filter cone for a green/k&n/pipercross replacement(any suggestions???)
- Do a good check if the exhaust system isn't blowing
- Replacing the door pannels with plane black ones
- Flushing & bleeding the radiator and engine because the engine gets to hot to quick and there is brown stuff in the resorvoir
- Wrapping the mani
- Fixing the front bumber(there is a small gap between the bumber and the right headlight)
- Replacing the rearlight with saxo mk1 rearlights
- Lightweight alloy crankshaft pulley
- Fixxing up and painting the alloys(thinking about painting them some sort of black)
- Cleaning up the enginebay

In the future when my wallet allows it:
- Race seats
- Race cams and a remap
- Or even better a VTR or VTS 16V engine

So let me know what you think about it and if you got some suggestions or tips for me...

yea its looking well. was guna say the same as him ^^ lol

maybe tint the back windows, and a sports grill maybe??

kistigun 21st May 2009 18:36

Thanks mates but I want to keep the rear whipper but maby i'm going to replace it with a flat wipper so it does't look so huge. Giving the windows a tint is a great idea! And i want to paint the grill or the citroen logo first.

landerboi13 21st May 2009 18:56

Bean 21st May 2009 19:24

kistigun 21st May 2009 19:34

Lol i'm hearing that ^^ a lot. I've been working at a carwash for a few years as a weekend job so I can use the carwash for free every week:P I believe they use shampoo & wax from a brand called Sonax

kistigun 23rd May 2009 23:57

Have been going to a few scrapheaps for a VTR inlet and TB but could not find anything. Does anyone know where i can buy them online???

JamesR 23rd May 2009 23:59

Georgous car mate, do you know what the alloys are?

J222JRA 24th May 2009 00:00

that looks very nice mate, a couple of things i would do are, standard fuel cap and re-furb the wheels in antharacite

kistigun 24th May 2009 14:06

finally found an bought a inlet mani including sensors and TB for a VTR from Sparco_Tom(thanks mate), hopefully it gets here next week so i can fit it on to the car. Up next: finding a decent replacement filter for in my raceland airbox. suggestions anyone?

kistigun 2nd June 2009 20:45

Little update: Bin bussy yesterday, i've painted my upper torsion bar black because when i bought it was very rusty and not so nice colored

also meshed my grill what was a hell of a job because my dremell tool stoped working after 5 minutes:n: so i had to do al the cutting by hand. Not yet happy with the result as the grill doesnt fit nicely anymore

I've also orded a light weight alloy crank pully, alternator pulley and belt thanx to the saxperience group buy:y:

Dellboy_furio 2nd June 2009 20:48

kistigun 6th June 2009 18:13

I've stopped searching for a green replacement filter for my raceland enclosed and bought an other filter and fitted it today:

It sounds much better then the original raceland cone:p Also repaired the meshed grille, looks much better now, still thinking of color coding it or painting the whole grille black. Any sugestions?

kistigun 8th June 2009 18:17

got something in the mail today: Alloy 8V crank pully

thanks to Colin & qrty for setting up the group buy:y:

Smoked my side-repeators to:

And painted the chrome ring around the gator black:

Hopefully the TB will arive tomorrow so i can fit that as well

kistigun 13th August 2009 11:54

It has been a while since my last post, but I've been very bussy with my saxo.

-I fitted the crank pulley, great mod btw, still have to fit the alternator pulley because i diddn't had the right tools at the time.
-I've bought some new tyres, Admiral 712 195/45 R15 78V , they where pretty cheap but still pretty satisfied about them.
-Bought a new shorter black aerial, the old one broke in the car wash:n:
-Got the sax-p stickers on the rear windows and one on the boot
-replaced the green dial LED's with blue ones(broke the low fuel warning led and the high temp led but still bussy sorting this out)
-replaced the interior light bulbs with blue LED's
-finally fitted a TU5JP(came from a pug 306) inlet mani and TB
-heat wrapped my mani

As we speak the saxo is in the garage for a new headgasket so the overheating problem will be solved very soon. Also they are gone fit a Kentcam pt40 camshaft:y::y::y: Can't wait until friday and see/feel the result!!!

Still on the way:

-ordered some chrome second hand angel eyes for 60 pound, maby gona smoke them because i want to have a black & gold theme(how original)
-ordered smoked rears for 20 pounds!!!
-ordered a black leather momo gear knob

Will upload some pics tonight

skeltan 13th August 2009 12:20

kistigun 13th August 2009 12:36

Finally it's cammed!!! Car idle's fine and the improvement in performance is great. I notice there is alot of more power between 3000 and 5000 rpm. here a video how it sounds:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1HZd-SyF2M

maybe going to add a vernier pulley for some fine tuning

Also fitted my angels, look great. Orded some osram nightbreakers to add

So far i've got:
- Kentcam PT40 camshaft
- Raceland airbox with replacement filter
- Lightweight crankpulley
- Raceland 421 mani
- Sebring decat pipe
- Supersprint straight cat-back centre pipe
- Supersprint Magnum Backbox

The big question??? How many BHP would i have???

kistigun 26th September 2009 18:32

There is a 1.4 VTS on the continent.

Liam_ 27th September 2009 00:03

Finally got the cam in I see. :)

My VTR made 110bhp at standard timing with the PT40 and breathing mods. Best power (117.9bhp) was made at 2 degrees advanced from standard timing... Wizzy's made best power at 1 degree advanced. I'd fit a vernier pulley (be careful not to rotate the cam when sliding it on), adjust the timing to 1 degree advanced, then 2 degrees advanced - see if it feels any better.

Results may be more clear cut on the rollers but I'm pretty confident you'll see best power with the PT40 in the region of standard timing to 2 degrees advanced. :)

I'm looking arround for a vernier pulley so definitely going to try it soon. So what do you think? I added 20 bhp?

Liam_ 27th September 2009 12:25

10 - 20bhp would be reasonable estimation I think. :)

Wizzy 27th September 2009 12:30

Agreed, 20bhp could be feasable with an adjustable pulley. It would be worth while getting it set up on a rolling road so you can get the best from it.

kistigun 27th September 2009 17:16

ok thanks fot the comment guys, going to look for a vernier pulley and a rolling road in the area. I'm really currious to see how much bhp the car has.

kistigun 27th September 2009 17:45

Also just bought 4 of these with winter tyres:

and these smoked MK1 taillights:

i hope i can pick these up next week

johnlambert 27th September 2009 18:06
