Collo's Vtr/ Now The GTI Progress Thread! (pic heavy)

Hi,

Right were do I start? The beginnings probably a good place. I’ve had my 51 plate Saxo Vtr for 2 years now after part exchanging my old 106 xsi for it. I picked it up with only 28,000 on the clock, pretty good mileage for its age. As soon as I got it home the modifications started!

Heres what it looked like to start with

Absolutely standard apart from the sub which I put in for the time being when I got it home.

SaxoKez 16th October 2009 14:15

looks tidy that how it is now?

collo 16th October 2009 14:16

nooo just started the thread few mods done :)

SaxoKez 16th October 2009 14:17

get some pics up of how it is now :y: and future plans

collo 16th October 2009 14:20

first thing to be changed was the back lights. i went for smoking the standard ones not to everyones taste tho.

collo 16th October 2009 14:23

then bye bye rear wiper and black badges

collo 16th October 2009 14:25

induction kit???? yes please!! cheers sam. free bmc dia induction kit!

collo 16th October 2009 14:36

next small mod was a sunstrip. the car hasn't got one on now as the police moaned at me sayin "it was too low, the wiper blades touch it.. blah blah blah".

collo 16th October 2009 14:39

next was smoked side repeaters, and a new mesh grille. which i look back on now n think what was i thinkin with that gille lol

iSlayeR 16th October 2009 14:41

looking good :y:

scottcamb 16th October 2009 14:55

Looks gd so far apart from the grille

johnlambert 16th October 2009 15:09

lookin well so far

collo 16th October 2009 17:44

forgot to add this bit just before the grille and sunstrip i decided to paint the callipers red :)

collo 16th October 2009 17:47

i then came to my sences and made a custom grille out of the old shoddy bit of mesh and the original grille. painted the chevrons in wikid red to match the paintwork.

blake1312 16th October 2009 18:28

Looking good that mate this cars going the right way :y: just get some black rims and its a winner ;)

lukedavies1989 16th October 2009 18:34

liking your idea of colour coded chevrons!! nice

collo 16th October 2009 21:40

dont worry bud the black rims are on :) ill post the pics soon.

scottcamb 16th October 2009 21:50

grille defo look better now

Ryan_ 16th October 2009 21:50

You made the right choice by putting the old grille back on and painting the chevrons, looks nice

collo 16th October 2009 22:38

Next job was to fit new lights with painted black inserts. when i opened the bonnet i saw the state of the engine bay n had a major clean up. I removed the heat shield, painted the manifold cove black, got a new feed pipe from the filter to the throttle bodie, and also got a cold air feed pipe. this will hopefully turn into a procomp intake and filter but can't find one anywhere. :(

machevelli7777 16th October 2009 23:02

Looking good so far mate

collo 17th October 2009 01:39

i then couldn't decide how much to lower the car by an what wheels to put on???????? in the end i opted for lowering it 60mm at the front and the rear torsion bar matched. cheers to manic motors :) i also went for standard vtr rims sprayed black.

collo 17th October 2009 01:44

then went through the trouble of bonnet raisers. only a small mod but looks good in my eyes.

collo 17th October 2009 01:54

due to me living in doncaster at the time and always travelling back to scarbrough my car became filthy in a short space of time so gave the belly of it a clean and the inside of the arches

Before

After

obiously ones the front arch and ones the back but u get the idea :)

collo 17th October 2009 01:57

next step bye bye standard seats, hello buckets. for 200 quid off a mate 2 cobra monaco seats, 2 subframes, 2 cobra harness' and he chucked in a show cage :y: cant really see the seats ill get a better pic of them soon

collo 17th October 2009 02:03

forgot to add the pic of the exhaust its only a peco back box was on the car for about a year. just had the car mot'd and it was the rust was that bad on it i had no choice but to put my pea shooter back on

collo 17th October 2009 02:04

the badges also came off at this point but need the holes filling and painting

collo 17th October 2009 02:07

then decided to give the car a good scrub and try and get rid of some of the tar on the bottom of the door and sills and some of the grime off the engine.

collo 17th October 2009 02:14

CLEAN :p

collo 17th October 2009 02:16

now for the inside, dvd player fitted

collo 17th October 2009 02:27

colour coded trim. not too much just the part in the centre as u can see and the two blower surrounds at both sides. not too keen on painting the glove box handle, speaker covers, door handle etc.

collo 17th October 2009 02:33

as you can see ive now got a smiley grille due to my other one flyin off at high speeds 70 ;) lol din't really want one of these due to them been quite common but they're well built. considering painting the surround so its colour coded with the car but not too sure as ive seen a few about and they look bodged because the paint doesn't match up. so im in two minds! any suggestions???????

collo 17th October 2009 02:36

few more pics to add tomorrow stripped out, strut brace, aero wipers, twin fan???

collo 17th October 2009 11:26

few bits needed to be done in the near future! thinking of removing the door pillar sticker because the one thats on has had it. but the paint underneath might be brighter than the rest of the car hhhmmm???? also need to find a passangers side CLEAR fog light lense as the one that on now is frosted :( also a tow eye cover for that hole in the front bumper. was thinking of a 106 gti front bumper 2 cold air feed pipes where the fogs should be ??? will a 106 bumper fit and will it need modifying much? !help please!

collo 17th October 2009 12:17

new fan just arrived :) got the houseing for free off a mate. just need spray the housing and the blades and then rip the old one out, link them up and bobs ya uncle. still dont know what colour to do the blade?? any suggestions?
