Smoke headlights and foglights - Costs a bit of paint :P

T-Cut rear badges - Free if you've got T-Cut lying around. Can also use fine sandpaper :y:

Clean Clean Clean.. Clean arches, alloys, engine bay, clean everything! Makes a big difference.

Boot builds.. Can cost a fair bit for the subs and amps.. but the build itself is just the cost of the materials used. I did a twin 12inch boot build for 20 quid. Mind you the sub and amps cost be about 200... But if you've already got that, or you can get it second hand for cheap!

Lots of stuff involving fiberglass... iPod holder, Speaker pods etc etc.. be creative!

Lowering the torsion bar.. Free :D

Dewiper - Free!

Unblock the rain pipe on the sunroof so you don't get dripped on every time it rains!

Paint brake calipers..

Change the LED's in your dials.. - Few quid for the LED's.. and be VERY careful!

Refurb your alloys.. - Bit of paint and a lot of time. Maybe 30 quid..

Clean your throttle body.. Free, and helps throttle response!

Smooth boot lock..-bit of fiberglass, some paint, and a boot popper. Maybe 30 quid max :P

Yeh i made one once.. I'll try and add the picture to the above post!

I think there's a guide on here somewhere. It's easy enough!
Only problem i had is it came out on roundabouts :P

gsavill90 13th March 2010 17:24

Or if you're really brave...

My first car.. the week before it went to the scrapyard.
Twenty quid on spray paint.. and a stencil of U2 star bono!

shaneio 13th March 2010 17:25

paint your centre console and side vents

mysaxovtr 13th March 2010 17:30

smoothing the boot lid is a definate plan.... never thought of that or seen it before

really good ideas cheers for coments and keep the pictures coming :)

gsavill90 13th March 2010 17:34

Alot of bodywork can be done pretty cheaply if you're confident with painting.
Compressor and spray gun will set you back about 150 quid, but then any spray work you do is just the cost of the paint.
Combine that with your new skill with fiberglass and you can do all sorts :P

Halfords do a reasonably good phone holder. Could use it for an ipod too.

You can get those stick on plate bits for the suction pad to stick on to, then you could have it stuck onto the center console.
Or have it on your windscreen?
If you have a camera phone then you can video when you're driving. Useful for when you're passing a lambo or ferrari on the motorway. Then you can show all your friends!

It's especially useful when your car looks like this..

I use my phone as my stereo too :D
It's not ideal :P

Thesonicrecreation 14th March 2010 18:43

how do you go about changing the leds in your dials?

only mk2 saxos have leds in the dials mk1's uses bulbs but ive never seen anyone change them, there is a guide on how to change the leds but i cant find it at the mo, but you pretty much take the dials aprt so you only have the circuit board in front of you then use a soldering gun to take the old leds off and then solder on the new ones
these are the leds you will need
Red SMD LED's

Blue SMD LED's[/QUOTE]

another good little cheapish mod is to convert to mk2 dials if you have a mk1
this is the guide on how to do it

also a small but very effective mod is to de-pin the doors, makes it much harder for people to break in from personal experience (saved all my stuff from getting stolen), took me 5 min and cost me 45p for the two door grommits and the grommit for the boot where i de-wipered it lol

You make it sound like it happens on a daily basis, hope not lol

It's a good idea but i'd have to keep checking its locked by trying the door after i've locked it, as you cant see the pins go down when you lock it.

tbh mate it never bothered me that much as when i press the button it makes a noise doesnt it when it locks, id much rather have to check the doors locked every time rather than have all my ice stolen lol and its only happened once mate lol they tried to bend the door back then realised there wasn't any pins so they bent the door out further the get their hands down to open the door but obv saxos wont open unless its opened by the key so they must have just buggered off, to be fair they could have jsut smashed the window but that will draw attention to themselves

EDIT: this was the mess they made to my door lol

ManGo-SaXo 14th March 2010 19:47

New door jobby was it?

nah i just wound the window down put my knee up to the door card and bent the frame back in to place haha it doesn't seal that well on motorways you can hear the wind lol i will change the door at some point but haven't got round to it yet as venetian red doors are quite hard to come by

lmao i did feel a bit scared when i realised how easy it is the bend the door i even bent it back too much and had to bend it back out!!! yea if you fart near a saxo the metal creases lol

ManGo-SaXo 14th March 2010 20:01

haha i bet if you had to bend it back once more it would snap off lol

But this is why we buy french.. right? :homme:

Oh wait..

its because we can't afford anything else :y:

mysaxovtr 14th March 2010 20:20

i'd love to catch some1 doing that dont no what i'd do to them lol :boxing: i had my car broken into as well but the weird thing was there was no damage at all... i no the car was locked as i checked it like i always do.. but they left my stereo and all my cds and just took my jumpers very strange

mickymoe 14th March 2010 20:23

I've cracked your case:

Suspect = Homeless bum, It all adds up:

Left Cd's Stereo, no use for them.
Only stole Jumpers, he was cold.

No need to thank me.

mysaxovtr 14th March 2010 20:33

haha your probably right still would love to catch them or find out who it was...
trouble is my jumpers cost more than my stereo but lesson learned

lmao thats what went through my mind and yea if you leave your pins in then people can break in to your car with out damaging it, just slot a coat hanger down the door and pull the pin up easy (ive never done it promise :afro:lol) they only bent my door out to get their arm inside to open the door with the handle until they realised it wont open with out the key lol

mysaxovtr 15th March 2010 00:23

well i might just have to give it ago at taking the pins out.. is it easy idea? cheers for all the coments :)
