So what spec are you actually planning then? Looks pretty tidy man i'll be keeping an eye out for it about.

parry121 27th December 2010 20:33

you got this of someone is shropshire, it was my mates old rallye mamibabyblue's befor the guy you bought it off, very clean and low mileage for a rallye, top rallye :y:

ollsaxogti 27th December 2010 20:52

usual 16v conversion lol , ive already got the engine , loom and ecu so thats sorted just gotta get the ecu unlocked . full strip out interior wise , been looking at sprint 5's really like the look of them . full cage maybe a dash dodger depending which way i wanna go with the dash . they are my main concerns ATM . i could go on all day lol . im not going to use it for commutting or anything TBH as i dont wanna spend daft money fixing it and on fuel , just pure greasy track death :A:

saxovtsmad 27th December 2010 21:03

looks really nice oll

cheers mate ,yeah ive done abit of checking up on it and seen it on here a while back , the bodywork isnt in the best condition , front bumper needs a bit of attension , o/s rear quarter has a hairline crack in the filler where its has a repair previously , but they can be sorted in time , gonna be off the road for around 10 months (hopefully) while i get it ready for tracking next year .

yeah that was the only problem with the car was that hair line crack, but it is still a clean rallye, you leaving the 8V engine or you changing it to a 16V for the track?

ollsaxogti 27th December 2010 21:08

16v FTW everytime :A:

good to hear :A:

ollsaxogti 29th December 2010 17:19

ok managed to get a few hours on the rallye today , basically the engine is now ready to come out so hopefully il get that out tomorrow , but the engine bay is in need of a good clean and painting up and the usual plate will need welding in under the ECU :n: but otherwise im happy with what i managed to get done today :y:

heres a few pics

the nearside front splashguard was missing so the arch is filled with mud due to the previous owner living on a farm (brilliant) .

the new 16v lump not far from ready to go in just needs the head cleaning up and then a new cambelt .

thanks for lookin

Krys_23 29th December 2010 17:28

Lookin good man, some jp4 covers are a must, its what i'm after but can't find any, you get any pics of the loom plugs ?

ollsaxogti 29th December 2010 17:55

ive got some jp4 cover just need to paint them up :p i havnt got any at the moment but ive compared the 16v loom with the loom on the car and its spot on every pin is where it should be and lines up so should be spot on

Krys_23 29th December 2010 18:01

Nice one man, where'd you get the jp4 covers from?

parry121 29th December 2010 18:03

looking good mate :y:

ollsaxogti 29th December 2010 18:05

cheers mate , just left a deposit for some sprint 5's which il be picking up soonish :A:

miamibluebaby 29th December 2010 18:22

my naked old car! good to hear its finaly getting 16v :) good luck with everything was one hell of a drive up to lancaster and back to get this! espesialy as i was travaling up in my s1 rallye and its imensly close ratio box!

ollsaxogti 29th December 2010 18:26

yeah its a good car man , always fancied one , but wanted one that i could 16v myself and prepare for the tracks , gonna be an epic project but will be worth it in the end !

ollsaxogti 30th December 2010 16:52

UPDATE

right got the rallye engine and gearbox out this afternoon on my own which wasnt too bad really just my back is fooked from bending down all afternoon! anyway once the engine was out i set about the engine bay with some degreaser and the jet wash ready for welding and painting but batteries ran out on the camera once id done finished cleaning it off :wall: also degreased and jet washed the s2 rallye box off too but will get pictures up tomorrow .

couple of pictures of the bay and some rot lol

bunkerstevo 30th December 2010 17:49

Looks gd m8 Gonna keep my eye On this to see how it turns out

ollsaxogti 30th December 2010 17:55

thanks mate :y:

Krys_23 30th December 2010 17:55

Similar rust to my bay when i took the 8v out, yours seems to have penetrated a little more though! lookin like some good progress .

ollsaxogti 30th December 2010 17:58

yeah gonna have to weld a plate in there definatly but everywhere else is pretty solid so im quite chuffed its the only place that needs doing , think i might seem weld up the engine mounting too though for abit more strength

ollsaxogti 1st January 2011 15:15

small update : right got a picture of the engine bay once id jet washed majority of the muck off.

ollsaxogti 1st January 2011 15:19

then i set my sights on stripping the interior out and removing the wiring loom back to the dash so i could prep it for painting , i then spent half an hour with a hanner and a chisel get up the soundproofing shite off the deck .
Thats it for now more pics to follow.

Thanks for lookin :A:

UPDATE

finally managed to pick up my throne's of choice :A: a pair of sparco sprint 5's in MINT condition not a mark on them complete with sparco subframes , the pictures really dont do them justice , me and a mate travelled down to portsmouth to get them which took like 3 hours lol but they were well worth it for the price ;)

Krys_23 10th January 2011 17:43

Lookin good, you'll have a broken back in no time with them sprint 5's ;)

thanks man, i know yeah they arn't the most comfy seats but they're pretty lightweight and IMO they look ace too , im not gonna be using the car as a daily so comfort isn't an issue either ;)
