Ongoing squeek
Right I've had this squeek now ever since I had my car lowered and it's been getting progressivly worse as time goes on. I've got no idea where it's coming from but it's definatly from the front end of the car.
At first I though it was just the springs n shocks needed to bed in a little bit so ignored it. I've now tried to tighten those two bolts in the rear arch as I read somewhere on here that they can come loose and cause a squeeking. that didn't solve the problem, the noise is still there. It only happens when I turn left and unsettle the car ie hit a bump or turn left. It doesnt happen at all when I turn right, bumps or no bumps. I dont know whether the two are linked but when the car is going straight the steering wheel is very slightly turned to the left...maybe I just need my tracking done but any help on these two issues would be great Thanks in advance Neil |
Bump as this problem is developing on my car.
It could be the anti roll bar bolt near the torsion bar as these are a common problem. Just need tightening.
i have thae same only started when it was lowered

o.k. well means that, that didnt work, it could be a couple of other things as i had squeeking from the front of my car. i got told it could be the back engine mount as this is quite common on our little french mobiles or a wheel bearing.
could be completely wrong but its worth having a look at eh.:P |
I am 96.5% certain it is due to the car being lowered tho. As both mine and subtles developed the problem after lowering.
i also have this and it started to happen after i had it lowerd, but when i push the car up and down with my hands theres no noise!!
yeah same Graeme.
I have a squeak everytime i set off, sounds like its the suspension but it ain't lowered...
All i can think of is strut brace. |
Could just be squeeky springs?
could be, It's Just weird how it only happens when we turn left tho.
If it carries on I'm actually gunna take the whole suspension off and buy a new kit as it's REALLY pissing me off now lol
It's getting progressivly louder as time goes on, my little door speakers are going to need upgrading again to cope with the problem ;) |
It is annoying like. There must be an easy option rather then replacing the front springs.
Could it be a loose strut? What does the squeek sound like high pitched, fast etc etc
It's pretty high pitched...like a dog when you stand on it's paw only not as loud lol. The faster the car is going the faster the squeek is. I'm pretty sure it's directly linked to the suspension, I just dont know how :S
You just down on springs or on uprated shocks too? I'd have to listen to it to see if I could tell what it was.
We have both have uprated shocks mate. both got our cars lowered at the same place aswell. strange.
exhaust?
i had a noise when i only turned left and it was the exhaust squeekying, just had all the nuts tightened up |
All the nuts etc etc were done on my last service and it was still there when I drove it out the garage matt. Think I've exhausted all possibilities now, if you'll excuse the punn :D
i would say its a wheel bearing!
If it is a wheel bearing, how much would that cost to fix?
can you damage the wheel bearing as a result of lowereing a saxo?
Yeah you can... If the car is lowered then it changes the angle of the drive shaft, usually at the bearing, so that sounds like a good idea to change the bearing. If you have bigger than 16" alloy's then you will find the bearings are under alot more strain than they where made for. Hope that helped.
O... bearings shouldnt cost much. If you go to quick fit, you could blag it for £40 or £50, thats with labor and parts. Lofty
The squeak started less then 3 weeks after i go the car lowered. Could the bearing go that fast? My car only has 12,000 miles on it i would of thought the bearing would of lasted longer then that TBH. plus I have the standard wheels on. You never no tho. cheers for the help.
i have the same problem mine was fine until i had it lowered its getting worse the noise starting to piss me off .
Right my sax is bleeding squeeking too!!
Although i'm pretty sure it's coming from the clutch. It Only creaks & squeeks when im pulling off or driving really slow and does seem worse when i'm bringing the clutch up in the low gears It's really really annoying though and everyone stares! Someone said it could be the clutch release bearing? I Really wish i knew more about car mechanics, i can see me getting shafted by my local garage as they seem to know when you've not got a fucking clue what they are explaining!. I love my car but this noise makes me want to beat it to death with a hammer :o( |
I had a squeak from the front wheels after lowering my car but it was because the brake disc retaining bolt wasn't screwed in properly, and the disc was wobbling pushing the calliper about
Looks like it's a trip to quick fit sometime this week then, see if the bearings need replacing.
Got my squeak fixed today. It was the power steering pump.
Mines doing this.. what part of the pump was broke?
