Posi Blue vtr 16v * quaife atb on its way*

I've been on here a while now but never really posted much but as a few might know by reading his project thread vtcarl has sold his immaculate vtr and i've been lucky enough to be the one to get it, I've put another progress blog on a different site im on so im going to copy my main post from there other wise it will take to long to do it all out again.

my main plans with the car are keep it clean and not touch it much as its perfect atm only thing that needs doing asap is the wheels need a refurb, I cant decide between black/silver and white deff not going any stupid colours its staying smart. Hope you enjoy the read.

i got a text from my mate ste (badgersport on here) that a well known saxo was for sale, so as soon as i got the link to the thread i had to get in touch an go and view it. The previous owner has owned it since it was 16 months old and has every bit of history you could ask for, He's also done a few choice mods which have made the car so much better.

I soon fell in love with her and put a deposit down, then last friday i went down to pick her up.

spec list:

sparco upper brace
omp lower brace
206 gti 180 front brakes with red stuff pads
standard rear brakes with green stuff pads
braided lines front and back
23mm 406 master cyclinder
janspeed 4-2-1 manifold
sports cat
powerflow catback exhaust
pollybushed all round
bilstien b8 shocks
eibach 40mm front springs with rear matched
green enclosed carbon induction kit
oil catch tank
oillite bearing less rear beam with 24mm rear arb fitted
mk2 airbagged vts interior
modded track rod arm to avoid powersteering pipe
quickshift but cant remember the name
black vts wheels need a refurb as they were his winter wheels and only rattle canned.

Dont really have any plans for her apart from tidy bits and bobs up like get wheels refurbed an eventually get the stone chips on the front end sorted

now for the pictures, heres some from the previous owners project thread on saxperience

i haven't took many my self but heres the few that i have taken:

then on sunday i thought im going to treat it to a good clean so i went and got some new goodies

then after a good clean and polish

abit of a random pic but i like it for some reason

Looks a minter mate really nice car as for the wheels id say white or silver tbh bit that's just my opinion and may I suggest smoking the headlights? Other than that gorgeous!

vts_lozza 9th May 2011 15:07

looks really nice afta youve given it a coat of wax! i also agree with tingaling, wheels would look nice in another colour im thinking white!

dan-sport 9th May 2011 15:34

tbh the more i think about it the more white is winning i know silver looks good on it but i think white would be a nice change, my mrs has a gold vtr with all the smoked bits on, jewel rear lights, smoked fronts ect an as good as it looks i want the two cars to look different, ill do another progress thread for her car inabit aswell.

cheers fcor the nice comments anyways guys

vtcarl 9th May 2011 22:31

Looking good mate looking good. Cheers for the link, be nice to watch it develop more. If you have a chance on Sunday afternoon after 2ish pop by mine for the supersprint centre pipe. Just knock on and I will give it to you for your mrs car.

KimieAddy 9th May 2011 22:57

have always loved this car...everytime i drove past your house carl i always had to look at it lol n now i get to look at it everyday n occassionly drive it hehe sooo much more comfortable then mine, but now making me wana get mine a bit better, well fix little rattles etc or should i say get dan to fix them n ill just pay lol

dan-sport 9th May 2011 23:50

Sound mate ill text you before i come round.

After a chat with badgersport tonite the wheels will be getting refurbed in the brightest silver i can get and maybe a flake put in them to make them really sparkle when clean, i will also be lowering the back another 10mm just to get rid of the arch gap because as much as i love how it is, its really been eating at me more and more knowing the back looks so much higher,

gojka 10th May 2011 03:21

Lookin good dan mine will be back on the road by the end of the week I hope, gettin the windscreen changed then all thts left is to scrap the black 1 which will b a shame but I've got ma new toy now lol then get it taxed and insureed and I'm sorted

Lol. Yours is a nice car, but if your not 100% happy I suppose you may aswell get bits done.
Dan if your going to lower the rear some more you may as well grease the oillite bushes a little. Keep them in good condition.

Pudzy67 10th May 2011 10:43

looking tidy bud keep up the good work

dan-sport 10th May 2011 11:06

Ye i will grease them mate been looking at different grease but have no idea which one to get so im gonna message im axles and ask lol i think it will keep it looking smart an practical an also level the car off fingers crossed

vtcarl 10th May 2011 18:56

The reason it is higher at the rear is it's supposed to be better for handling. But 10mm shouldn't be bad for it. I think it can ruin the car if it's too low.

dan-sport 10th May 2011 20:41

Ye i really donno what to do one day i want to lower it 10mm the next i dont ive spoke to im axles and he said the bushes are self lubricating but ive asked him what intervals he reckons i should renew the grease

vtcarl 11th May 2011 08:00

I was intending once a year with servicing the bushes. I think youshould look at doing this as I've not done it yet. I'd say just a little "squirt" of grease on each bush.

dan-sport 15th May 2011 11:27

I should have an update later with a fair few pictures, it includes new wheels, sprayed grill and a new center console

dan-sport 15th May 2011 19:34

Tell today i was bored so i took my wheels off and swopped them with the mrs car and both cars are so much better for it. I'll let the pictures do the talking.

vtcarl 15th May 2011 20:04

looking good dan!! black suits the mrs car!

tingaling 15th May 2011 20:44

dan-sport 2nd June 2011 09:48

I've wanted to do this to the car since i had it but i didn't as for some reason on this car i actually liked the standard lights but i bit the bullet and just got on with it.

during:

after:

im gonna clean it and go take some decent pictures in abit, i've got to say im not sold yet i preffer standards lol so i'll see how i feel after the clean but if i dont like them ill be getting a standard set of inserts

vtcarl 2nd June 2011 10:28

RickVTR 2nd June 2011 14:51

Loving the car mate....posi is the best colour

dan-sport 4th June 2011 11:34

saxovtsmad 4th June 2011 19:55

white with possi blue is to common now thats why i have had a complete change

RickVTR 4th June 2011 19:56

dan-sport 4th June 2011 23:56

The wheels are staying silver its fresh an looks mint clean, im still unsure on the headlights but they are growing on me

vtcarl 6th June 2011 07:11

Looking good dan! Keep it up.

dan-sport 17th June 2011 13:41

not much of an update but it should be getting cam'd in the next few months,

plans are:

newman phase 3
venier pulley
new timing belt kit
remap

then if it needs it a gti/vts box but im undecided on that bit yet as this box is mint so might just wait on that one

cheers

dan-sport 29th June 2011 13:55

just thought id do a small update

one thing i really didnt want to do was put an aftermarket headunit in as if im honest i dislike every one i've seen. So i got thinking why do i want a new one, i only want one so i can have my sub fitted so i had a quick look and found an adaptor that taps into the rear speakers and turns into 2 female rca leads so i got one and fitted it.

fitted:

headunit back in:

and a complete view:

im over the moon with it tbh since having a little play with the amp it now sounds perfect

prior_vtr 29th June 2011 17:50

looking good ladd love the posi blue vt

dan-sport 12th July 2011 13:12

my car had its mot on friday and passed first time with the only advisorys being the rear tyres which made me so proud of it haha.

proof:

i fitted a nice clean new grill aswell, as the old grill was painted and although it looked better it was chipped:

old too show a few marks on it:

new:

one of the car itself:
