_robs new EP3 type r.... Traitor!
Hi lads, I really hope you don't mind me posting this here, I've has 4 vts's and used this forum for years; itis the best out there even if it's not a Saxo, I'd appreciate everybodys views on looks etc and there's way more activity on here.
Anyways, I'll paste what I put on the type r owners, let us know what ya think! Bear in mind this was posted on an American civic forum... : : : Hi everyone, Firstly my names Rob, 21, and im from England, i guess this is an america based forum? I have tried 3 times to join the type-r owners forum and they have not returned an email to me allowing me to activate my account so im going elsewhere. I actually dont have an 8th gen civic... Its a 7th gen, but searching for advice on the internet about certain things I find that this is often the most useful place to be! Im not sure of the etiquette on these things but im sure ill find out by the response. Anyways, I just picked up a tidy 2005 UK version Civic type R Hatchback, 2.0l vtec type r, and have a pretty good idea about where im going with it, but before going mad and ordering the exhaust system etc I thought that it would be wise to get more opinions. This is my car- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() First thing I did when I got the car was install an alpine headunit, bluetooth and cable in the back which is wired into the dashboard, and I love it! Its never your own car until you have your own headunit! ![]() Anyways... Now im after an exhaust system all the way from the engine back. My last car was a bit too loud, id prefer something a little quieter on this one. I like the skunk2 megapower and think ill just go with the 60mm diameter as it will most likely sound more 'raspy', but they also have a silencer which can be installed which would be ideal to take on/ take off. Another thing is, my brother recently had an exhaust fitted which is not really any louder than standard, and when he got a cold air induction kit fitted the noise is amazing because the induction bark isnt hidden by the noise of the exhaust- so im going to try and find a middle ground. In terms of looks, wheels will be black, bonnet, roof and bootlid will also be vinyld black. Lowering on coilovers whenever I have the money spare. Anybody got and comments/suggestions please let me know! SORRY ITS NOT AN 8TH GEN!! Right! My shiny bits were delivered yesterday- fitted today, and well... What a car it is now! The exhaust sounds amazing, worth every penny, and has noticeably increased the power. The induction kit hasn't been fitted yet, because I can't find my forking locking wheel nut! Anyway... That's going to be on next week. Pictures below: All my bits: ![]() Heat wrapped the manifold: ![]() A few of the car before fitment: ![]() ![]() It's booked in for lowering, alloys returning and spraying to match the body colour, and vinyl wrapping the roof em3 carbon fibre style! Can't wait till this all comes together! Little update! Got my new red wheel nuts, think they look siiiccckkk! Haven't got the locking nuts off yet though. ![]() ![]() |

Rear tow bar fitted today! Yeah boi I like it though I can imagine it's not everyones cup of tea- it will annihilate anyones car if they run into the back of me! ![]() |
Nice civic dude, do like cosmic greys meself, not as nice as milano though :P
Have a read on the forums fella, your wheel nuts are not designed for the standard wheels, the bolts are too small. What exhaust did you go for? And hows it fuelling without a map, thought you had to have it remapped when adding a manifold...? Due to running lean? I may be selling 4 month old ABP/Eibach 30mm lowering springs and Eibach front camber bolts if your interested? :) Dan |
nice car m8

I went for dc sports manifold and system, got a free AEM v2 but will eventually invest in gruppe m. I'm writing this on an iPhone so scrolling up is a bastard I might have missed something but... Oh yeah, haven't heard about issues with running lean- can you expand? I'll be investing in a kpro soon. I'm booked in tomorrow at ABP and they have everything I need sorry bud! Quote:

Car's been lowered! Decided to go for 30mm springs custom made for ABP motorsport by eibach, looks perfect IMO! Pics below...

Do they? Yeah just check, I heard they were only for aftermarket wheels :) Cool, the DC is meant to be a good system, impressed with it? I need a manifold! Lol. Yeah apparently to get the best out of the manifold you need the map tweaking and otherwise they can run too lean... Not sure as im going off hear say.. :/ Looks nice on the ABP springs, beware of the steering rack creak.. :( Drives me insane hence Ive invested in Meister R coilovers... lol! |

You were right about the bolts thanks for the heads up! Gutted that I need to change them... If I'm going to map it I want it on throttle bodies- do you know if there are any ITB kits available for the ep3? I have a noise coming from the rear but have heard this may be something to do with the antiswau bar? You heard of issues with Dc systems and anti sway bars before? |

JRSC = 300BHP and if sourced second hand would cost £3.5K... Or £5K brand new K24 bottom end and K20 head, bigger RBC, full exhaust, Gruppe M would be 300BHP with torque to match... But cost G of Fastcar in the region of £8K for the rebuild... TBH mate I havent, but dont know much about them! Is there not much clearance between them both? With the lowered suspension could be rubbing whilst put under load? I know my RARB kit may rub with standard dampers and the bar being 24mm (standard 19mm) - another reason for coilovers! |
im gettin an ep3 as my next car and im saving up for this http://www.cplracing.co.uk/products....=details&id=10 and a hondata ecu!
