Powerflex exhaust mounts

Just a quick question really, since fitting my powerflex lower engine mount I have a noise what sounds like my exhaust hitting the underside of the car, am I best buying the powerflex exhaust mounts designed for a saxo or the universal ones you cut to size from Halfords, bearing in mind my current backbox mounts sit quite stretched due to the location of the hangers.

Does anyone have experience with either?

Cheers

once i fitted my powerflex lower gearbox/engine mount my exhaust was banging on the heat shield, so i fitted the race/rally spec saxo exhaust mounts from ebay and it stopped most of it.
it still did it in reverse so in the end i just removed the part of the shield that covers the handbrake cable adjustment nut/bolt.

its sorted it for me :y:

AL3X_ 15th September 2011 13:41

I don't think its the shield mate cos I can't see where its touching :/ i'd think it would have rubbed a mark? And i've already removed that back shield just the front one remains....its puzzling me :/

anyone give me any suggestions as I wanna order them soon, i've got a feeling the noise may be the tailpipe hitting the left and right edges of the cutout in the bumper, although the noise sounds more metallic, it looks like it has been hitting it...I assume sturdier rubbers will solve this?

Cam 16th September 2011 00:57

I have powerflex gearbox mount and exshaust they fine, exshaust dont hit car just hit the lower strut brace when i reverse lol.

Cam 16th September 2011 00:58

Sorry for bad spelling btw on iphone :)

AL3X_ 16th September 2011 01:49

It must depend which exhaust mate, mines a powerflow which isn't much smaller than the size of the cutout, so i'm assuming its this as I cant see anywhere else it is hitting?

Cam 16th September 2011 02:57

I got a powerflow to man never had any problems with it hitting car

AL3X_ 16th September 2011 13:20

You posted on this last night lol, do you have powerflex exhaust mounts as well?

Cam 16th September 2011 15:10

Yer mate got powerflex gearbox mount, powerflex exshuast mounts and a powerflow exshuast.

AL3X_ 16th September 2011 17:21

Ah I see, might have to get myself some then...although are your hangers on the powerflow a bit short, mine are...whichever person at powerflow made it probably lost his glasses that day haha), either that or the motorsport exhaust mounts.

Which powerflex ones you get? could you link me please.

Cam 16th September 2011 18:46

I got mine off ebay at shopping atm will do when get back mate.

AL3X_ 17th September 2011 01:00

Kl mate thanks

AL3X_ 18th September 2011 00:09

Did u get a chance to look mate?

KamRacing 18th September 2011 08:54

we do hard rubber exhaust mounts that are the right size.

AL3X_ 18th September 2011 15:19

Do you think they will stop my exhaust hitting something on the undrerside after fitting a powerflex gearbox mount? Also my current rubbers are stretched a bit to reach both hangers due to the way powerflow made my backbox...will i be able to do this with yours?

Cheers

Ben_SaxoForte 18th September 2011 15:50

I find the powerflex mounts with the 4 hanger holes are good for adjusting the exhaust into the right place got them on mine coz my backbox was hitting something under the car, like these 1s uve probably already seen them:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Powerflex-...item2567b2c6cd

AL3X_ 18th September 2011 17:31

yeah those are the ones i've seen, the only problem is my exhaust sits perfectly with the standard mounts, albeit a bit stretched.

Bedford126 18th September 2011 17:36

Powerflex ones are shit and snap. The Kam racing ones are strong as F**k and give just enough movement without been ott.

I cannot say. They dont really stretch due to the hard rubber and are for standard mounting points. The whole point is they dont allow much in the way of movement but soft enough so you dont have issues like snapping exhaust hangers due to engine movement.

AL3X_ 18th September 2011 18:59

Hmm this is my problem mate, i've currently got standard ones on and the exhaust sits perfect in the cutout but the rubbers are probably stretched just under a centimetre, but ive watched someone drive my car and when goin over a bump the exhaust wobbles side to side and is making a tinging noise...i assume i need these to stop the tinging but im unsure if they'll fit?

Would it be possible to just buy one off you and see if they fit or do you sell them only as a set? Or could i maybe buy a set and if it wont fit return it?

Cheers

AL3X_ 18th September 2011 19:38

Sorry Marcus didn't see your post, so thats down to kam ones or the motorsport ones on ebay...is there any difference between the two?

And kam, I went to take some pics if this will help....as you can see my tailpipe sits pretty much spot on and i don't wanna compromise this with those long universal powerflex rubbers:

Here is the mounts, they aren't actually as stretched as I first assumed so yours may fit:

And with cable ties round it to see if this would tighten it and stop movement temporarily....it didn't lol:

Cam 19th September 2011 00:16

Sorry for long repley been a mad weekend!
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/POWERFLEX-...item35b42874ca

There the ones i got mate not or ever had any problems with them splitting and i had them a while check them weekly :y::y:
Btw the key ring you get is gay lol:homme:

AL3X_ 19th September 2011 00:44

yeah the keyrings a car or sumert init lol?

Are they able to stretch at all mate, like mine are in the pics?

Bedford126 19th September 2011 00:51

mate they shouldnt have to stretch at all the hangers on the exhaust are made wrong if its sitting at the correct hight. Personnaly i would get them to weld longer hangers on solve all your problems in one go.

Cam 19th September 2011 00:51

Yer a purple car lol..

And yer they can but not much had a bit of a struggle getting them on mine :y:

I know the hangers are made slightly wrong mate but I don't have the receipt for the backbox so they wouldn't honour it and would probably make me buy a new backbox, i think some firmer rubbers that will stretch a tiny bit will work, even if I had the hangers made longer it would still hit I assume, even though I can't find where it is hitting.

Ah I see mate, are your hangers short as well or just normal?

Cam 19th September 2011 17:04

Yerr one of mine is short mate.

AL3X_ 19th September 2011 17:57

Ah cool, must be a Powerflex thing lol, sorry to be a pain but did you fit yours before the powerflex engine mount? may be why you didn't get any noises when you fitted it.

Cam 19th September 2011 20:32

Na had engine mount on a while before mate.

AL3X_ 19th September 2011 20:35

Ahh, maybe these wont work then :/
