delivery drivers
Hi all, I've just been phoned by the local chinese take away asking me to be a driver, I start at 7 but what sort of pay should I expect? I've never done anything like this.
Any tips would be great :) |
My pal gets a pound a delivery and £15 for petrol, usually does about 45 on a Thursday and 60-70 on a Saturday if that's any help?
|
so, a random chinese rang you and said "we need a delivery driver. can you do it?" you just said "yes"
didn't ask details etc? seems a bit stupid imo. basic conversation would usually intail asking basic info regarding the work & pay etc! EDIT - tips. drive as economically as possible! |
No, I went in there couple of weeks ago asking if they need drivers and I just left my details and forgot about it and they phoned me lol there was a language problem so I just said ill turn up :)
Thanks for help the guys :) |
Hope you have "takeaway delivery insurance" on your car mate.
|
Yeah.. it horribly invalidates insurance so either keep it mega hush hush or declare it.
|
Ive done this before for a pizza place. was making about £5.50 an hour then tips and delivery money on top.
Used to get between £10-15 on average on top of wages. If you can put in say £20 fuel and it last you for 3 nights worth of delivering then you are good as should make enough to cover that and some left over. |
I don't know how long I'm working for them for, I'm hoping its more than today cos I need the money for crimbo lol
|
Thanks for all the help people:)
|
Also check they cover your insurance otherwise you arent insured on a standard policy.
|
I think my old mans rang my insurance up :)
|
good luck - easy money driving around in your own car - roads will be clear too.

Made £50 in tips one night alone, then all delivery money ontop. Some places were £1 to deliver to others were £1.50-2.50. I think it was about 2005 so everything was less. |
If the pay is low, use the opportunity to delivery other things, you know whilst people are on the munchies and all haha jks :drink:
|
Wages are cheap and they take about 45 min to give it you :)
|
I deliver organs for transplant victims. Good pay but disastrous mess in a crash.
|
I used to do this very regulary.
I used to get £5 a hour + £1/ £1.50/ £2.00 delivery money depending where it is. Average night you make around £45. On Average, you can easily wack on 65miles a night onto the car. You're car will stink of grease for a week. Tips weren't the best as everyone in Bedford lives in a Shit hole and are poor cunts. Be very careful, chinks will do anything to make money. Even from there own drivers. They will expect you to take them to the shops for 'ingredients' yet wont offer you to buy you a drink why they are in there or give you a few quid petrol money. It gets boring driving the same route every 10 minutes and then working 3 / 4 hours a night instead of 6. Oh, nicking a pack of prawn crackers to eat while your driving isn't allowed, but you don't eat your dinner till around 11pm when they are a bit quieter. IMO, not worth it. Wear and tear on your car + high miles... I wouldn't recommend it. |

Your Their They're I think it's about time you made an effort to learn your own fucking language. |
I used to do it a good few years back. Back when the price of fuel wasn't such a joke.
Was easy money tbh, used to make around 45quid on an average week night and use about 10quid of fuel. On a good Saturday night with good tips i seen myself going home with over 100quid. I used to use a runabout for doing it, but on the odd occasion would take my old V6 Astra, 328i Sport or my old Pulsar just for a laugh. Delivery drivers nowadays never seem to make much with the price of fuel etc, and they never seem to be busy. Everytime im in places getting a take-away i have a blether with the drivers and they all say the same, thats its alot quieter than what it used to be few years back. |
Yes mate its ok if the place is busy if not you get some free fuel and food too. But if its busy you can make £100.00 per night at the weekends if you want to lose a Friday or Saturday night but it is worth it for about 6 or 7 hours ,and you get to know the regulars too and can get faster doing it as you know them and get a laugh too:p

Ive did this for about 3 years and can make an extra £150.00 per week on a normal week 2 or 3 nights runs my cars for me for free
|
I work for a pizza place mate.
I get a basic rate, so a set price every shift. Then i get £1 every delivery i do, £1.50 if its a bit further. And then tips on top which, especially on weekends, do mount up a fair bit :y: I also thought id be using a lot in petrol, turns out i actually don't at all. Say i did 15 deliveries in a night, i wouldn't use anywhere near £15 of fuel which you get paid for, so it is good pay imo :) Ive only ever had 1 job before it and i consider this to be miles better. Good luck :A: |
I'd asked to be paid in the type of GBP.
Anything else, I'd tell them to fuck off ;) |
dirty diesel is what you need
make sure your insured, ive had mates banned for months or given points for not having the cover i looked into it as i live within stones throw from 10-15 takeaways, was gonna be about £16 extra for the year :y: |
