Ben's Flatarch Project // CRASH! Now fixed!

This is my first thread on here. I have been looking at other progress threads on here and decided to make my own. Got some snaps of the car now, I haven't done anything yet as I have only had the car for a week.

Picked her up for £750. Just passed it's MOT with no problems and no advisories. Also, just been serviced, new set of tyres and a new clutch.

Not sure about the lexus lights :/ Might just get some standard smoked lights

Best way to sort this out? Looks like something was spilt on it.

PLANS

I can't do anything quick as I have a lot coming up that will empty my wallet. But cheap things I will get around to in the next couple of weeks no doubt are -

Sorting the bonnet marks
New drivers side front wing (dint from someone opening door onto it)
Colour coding the grill and fitting it with mesh
Spraying the chevrons white, and the boot badges
Spraying current rims white (to get an idea of colour on future plans)

FUTURE PLANS

Lowering.
Alloys.
Induction Kit.
Tinting read windows.
Replacing rear lights.
Angel Eyes.

If you know where I can get cheap parts for my build please let me know!

JoeHindle 30th January 2012 19:18

Nice looking car mate, welcome to the site :y: I think the marks on the bonnet may be lacquer peel, not 100% sure though, plans seem good anyway, will keep an eye on this

Heftydanielson 30th January 2012 19:19

Get mk1 rear light on it. But looks like a goo starter point.

Once you've got the requirements for the for sale/wanted section you can get bits rather cheep from there.

BennWilson 30th January 2012 20:05

Okay thanks guys! I looked in my car for the colour code but don't really know where I'm looking haha! Any ideas on the code for my car?

And I was thinking of getting mk1 smoked rears

On mine under the bonnet on the left hand side near the battery (where the top of the strut is)

BennWilson 30th January 2012 20:07

I'll have a look now. What exactly is it that I'm looking for? 3 letter code?

I think so, never really paid much attention, mines bright white though so can't miss it.

BennWilson 30th January 2012 20:39

I couldn't see anything. Owners manual is out now...

Oooh, yours is a MK2, it might in on the drivers door sill..

BennWilson 30th January 2012 21:06

KPKD! got it! ;D

BennWilson 30th January 2012 21:09

Now, where can I get spray in that colour? I can only find scratch repair kits...

elkoi 30th January 2012 21:28

Check Ebay, or type in the code on google followed by spray paint or something.
Something will pop up :)

BennWilson 30th January 2012 21:43

Found it! Thanks! Will order when I get paid. £20 for a can of paint and laquer.

BennWilson 31st January 2012 00:51

Thinking of getting white sponsor stickers to go down the doors next to the front wheel arches. Opinions?

kennym1987 31st January 2012 04:46

ditch back lights for mk1s, nice wheels, slam it. done :drink:

BennWilson 31st January 2012 08:45

Not slamming it yet, seems as though you can't do it for less than about £90. I'd rather sort other things first, that don't effect insurance.

Boony in Manchester lowers them for £80 you just have to buy the front springs

BennWilson 31st January 2012 14:19

Still too much at the minute. Anyway, I just bought some rattle cans to spray the badges, but how do I get them off easily?

kennym1987 31st January 2012 14:37

look on ebay for springs. i got mine for about £20. infact most things i've bought for the car cost £20 ;)

BennWilson 31st January 2012 14:53

Cheers I'll have a gander. But I want to sort out the wing, bonnet and badges first.

BennWilson 1st February 2012 15:54

I've decided that I will paint the whole grill white, and the chevrons the same colour as my car (not going to attempt the spelling (code is KPK though))

iDale 3rd February 2012 16:36

Ahhhhhh! Lexus lights! :fcuk:

Lol seriously though. Those badges are easy to get off, I just used my old AA card. If you open the boot you can even see the pins and sometimes push them off.. But theres a small amount of glue under them, nothing major :y:

BennWilson 3rd February 2012 17:09

Yeah I saw the pins, Ima heat the glue up. Will do it soon. And lexus lights should be gone soon. NEED MONEY

Jamie5709 3rd February 2012 17:17

Do the random cheap bits, like bee sting aerial and the smoked repeaters aswell..?

BennWilson 3rd February 2012 17:21

Yeah I will do. Might just buy a black meshed grill too.

BennWilson 4th February 2012 17:45

Decided that I would spray my vents white. Did a really shit job as I didn't prep properly (LESSON LEARNT). I like them though so I will redo them properly aswell as the centre console. I'm snowed in though so no work anytime soon.

BennWilson 4th February 2012 18:03

Am I right in thinking that the process for these should be:
Sand, 1 coat primer, 2 coats paint, 1 coat laquer. ?

XxAbzyxX 5th February 2012 02:54

Nice tidy little car but lose the lexus lights haha

I am haha

BennWilson 27th February 2012 13:43

Anyone got any ideas on prices to do these:

Spraying steelies white.
White meshed grill.
Smoked Mk2 rear lights.
Debadging all over.

GazWatson 27th February 2012 14:04

it looks okay the now but im sure you can mod it up on the cheap and still make it look tidy. I would change they back lights to cluster or even normal smoked ones but they ones you have arn't working. As for the vents inside thats a cheap way to get them done and they give the car a good loook

BennWilson 11th March 2012 22:50

Got some mk1 rear lights thanks to Danny-vts. Will be putting them on tomorrow. Now the hard task of selling the lexarse rears.

jayline 12th March 2012 14:30

BennWilson 12th March 2012 18:10
