New MK2 VTS
After the sad sad passing of my MK1 1.1/16v, I was on the lookout for a new car. Looked at all sorts ranging from Suzuki Vitara's to Lexus IS200's :homme:
Then, somehow ended up with this.. MK2 VTS, Crossover iirc. Single plug engine with Mk2 shit. Needs some loving, but its a decent base. Plans are just to generally tidy it up and make it look reasonable. Needs a new wing, as the offside has some damage to it..but I have one here ready to go on. I'm just to much of a bitch to change it while its freezing. Lowering it slightly, 40mm no more. VTS wheels will be staying, not the ones on the car..but some others I have bought. May look into GTI leathers or something in a few months if I'm still fond of the car. The car itself, is decent. Full dealership service history up until 6months ago. Found out its got a Sports cat of some form on..Its about the size of a fist. Will be removed anyway in the way of my OMP system from my last car. Has Drilled and grooved Discs :homme: but on Pagid RS pads..Which is pretty cool. Will be changing the discs for regular vented ones as Drilled and grooved are a bit to homosexual for me. Tyres on the wheels are Toyo PX4's, but they're fubar'd so yesterday I ordered a set of 195/45/15 T1R's to replace them when I get my new wheels. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

It needs a wash!
Whats the mileage like? At least it got plenty of service history, thats the main part. It will look nice with some standard silver S wheels on it, not a fan of the white ones. |
ghey mk2. Do a mk1 front end conversion! :A:
|
Agreed needs a bloody good clean!! Hopefully this engine lasts a bit longer than the last :P
Also that exhaust will sounds rudeee on a 16v!! Mucho jealous! |
Another black Mk2 VTS :)
Mine is down 40mm and looks about right, any lower and I would struggle to get a jack under the skirts. |

Looking good mate as I've said on Facebook look forward to the progress :y: |
Iye, Excuse the dirty pictures. I took those the other day,It's been caked in Salt from the roads.. but have since cleaned it :)
Gave it a quick clean yesterday and the paintwork is actually rather decent. No swirls, or minimal swirls/marks from what I can see. Was pretty suprised at that tbh. Mileage is just under 90k..on the slightly high side, but all seems well :D I originally was on the Lookout for a Mk1..only saw a couple of ones I liked. One was a Ventitan Red VTR or speedline's, the other was a White Mk1. But both were at opposite ends of the country and ideally I needed a car there and then. This one was only 20miles away or so. -Gonna be changing a few things over the next few weeks when I get chance. Mainly just Droplinks, Driveshafts, Balljoints, along with new Bushes where possible. None of the above are damaged from what I can tell, but It'll be nice to replace it all knowing they shouldnt fail any time soon. |
nice to see you got another sax:y: give it a clean and your well away ive been thinking about just buying a vts cos mine is pissing me off gonna set about it with a hammer if it dont start behaving
|
Iye, just couldn't keep away from them!
I was always going to get another one, I just didnt plan on getting one so soon Lol Was going to get one as a second car later in the year..But oh well :) Yeah Cleaned it again today..Need to change the Drivers side wing as thats got a scrape/dent on it..then it should be half decent. Want to get it Detailed/cleaned up properly at somepoint..I've no idea on the Detailing/polishing side of things so I'm just going to pay someone to do it. I'd forgotten what normal paint work felt like, after having my last one in Chalkboard paint Lol. I'm still suprised at how quick it is to be honest. I thought my last one was quick..even running as bad as it did. But this is just perfect. Still not used to power steering though..last thing I drove for a period of time with PAS was my mums Discovery. It still catches me out at times. |
haha lol im the same with detailing my new 16v engine pulls like a train compared to the fucked one put a huge grin on my face everytime :)

I've got a couple of mates that are keen on Detailing etc so I'll let them do it for some beer money or something. Gave it a blast with a garage jet wash, Shiny..for the time being. ![]() Also.. ![]() ![]() Honestly, no idea why..But I've bought these. I've got an idea in my head of what i'd 'like' the car to look like with these on, whether it will happen I don't no..but these were a bargain anyway so I guess its useful to have a spare set if all else fails. |
haha its reli wierd seeing an standard height vts

I was actually amazed when I went to collect it. I can't remember the last time I've seen one at standard hieght and unmolested. Also, was flicking through the history earlier and reciepts for shit, to find its been to 'The ring'..Which would make the sticker on the bootlid appropriate for once. :) A Happy/worrying one also, reciept for a gearbox and differential overhaul. Now, I'm pretty certain that when the cars jacked up and both front wheels off the ground, if i turn one wheel, the opposing wheel will turn the other way wont it? Mine both turn in the same direction. :n: So, whats the crack? Fubar'd diff or a different one? I'm not really up for splitting the gearbox to find out.. but its not making any funny noises at all.. All seems well? |

PM Tom5190 he knows too much about saxs n pugs |
do you still have your 1.1 box?

I've been tempted to put it on, but I'm doing some motorway driving at the minute so I like it not screaming its tits off at 60mph haha. Plus, knowing my luck.. I'll go to put it on, and break something in the process. |
its a saxo mate you cant do anythin without breaking something;)
|
![]() Collected my wheels today :) Picture makes them seem a different shade of green than what they are.. They're more glossier and flourescent than what it shows. New tyres arrived earlier in the week also, so Will make up my mind on whether to keep these this colour or get them powdercoated before I put the tyres on. |
Nice car, Id say spray the alloys. Maybe white.
|
Collecting some bits in my spare room waiting to go on,
![]() OMP exhaust from my last saxo (Put this on tonight, Well Saxdazza did it all actually while he was here :D) Cheers man. Sounds immense. Its still on the standard manifold at the minute, my 4 branch needs a repair which I'm gonna take to get done this week or next hopefully. Sorry for piss poor quality picture, I took it with a Rock.. http://i746.photobucket.com/albums/x...73260074_n.jpg Wheels I'm putting on this week as they are for the time being. Will get them redone eventually though. There is still snow and piss poor weather where I live so I'll wait until the weather is being more kind and once the endless amount of potholes have been filled in. |
What did you do with the lambda sensor underneath?
|
I only have one Lambda, in the Manifold. Still there at the minute too, until I change the manifold.
Mines a crossover, so basically a Mk1 engine etc.. Cat underneath and whatnot. |

I cant be fucked with the lights on the dials tbh. My supersprint sounds nigh on OEM (like a panel filter). Only time you can hear it is when im going down the gears it pops and bangs. |
Quote:
Ahh yours pops and bangs :( Haven't had any pops or bangs yet. Did on my last car, but that was overfueling like hell. Although, sounds lovely anyway though :D |
Quote:
Yeah my system bar the backbox is fully oem and on down shifts and sometimes going up gears i get tiny ones. Downshift people notice. Il try and get a vid tommorow or somthing. Its great on fuel too! |
Haha, Yeah I just turned up, looked for rust and handed money over.
Turns out it was a bargain anyway, confirmed it with Stew that its got a Quaife Diffed box on. Looked through the History and reciepts to find one for a Gearbox overhall at a Place in Congleton (about 5miles away from me) Guy who had it before me was a bit of a baller it turns out. Sports cat, Diffed Box, Decent set of pagid pads up front and reciepts from being at 'The ring' too. Ahh yeah, look forward to a vid :) I'm getting a few on Wednesday of mine. Meeting up with Alanapone for some Airport tunnel blasting. Went through the airport tunnels near me earlier, wanting to get some video's but both my Camera and phone had no battery when I got there Ffs! I was suprised at the fuel consumption on mine too tbh, with some hooning twinned with town driving, I've been getting 40/45mpg. Which is pretty decent Imo. Although, it just means I can drive harder for longer..But then I'm still filling it up all the time. I've used 80quids worth of fuel since saturday morning. And I've really only needed to use the car for work, which in total since saturday is around 25miles. |

I was expecting it to basically drain me and force to me sell on but its actually much much better then the Micra i had. Mine came like fully standard bar the HU and it looks pretty decent. (cheers mate ;)) Its got fresh pads on the front/back. Only thing that i had issus with at first the temp guage but that was a thermostat jobby and my ABS light was on. (didnt think much of it at first) warrenty soon fixed that. £100 (HAH) /trollface I did try to do a vid tonight but the gf said it was pointless as you couldnt hear it.. |
Fucking hell, more economical than a Micra? Win on all counts then haha.
Ahh, thats one of the little piss taking niggles I've had with mine.. Temp gauge being a bastard. Just does it randomly.. Did it on saturday for about 10minutes, then was fine. Has been fine since then. Assuming either temp sensor or Thermostat, both are cheap as fuck anyway..Ideally need to get round to changing it. Aswell as sorting the ABS light, as that comes on now and then. Works though, felt it kick in a couple of times, so it may be a loose connection somewhere? Fuck knows. Only other problem is a Knocking from underneath now and then, Something from the front passenger side I think, can feel it through my feet when going over bumps quite slowly. As if somethings loose. Possible ball joint or worn bush on the lower arm, Need to get under and have a proper look ideally..but I can never be arsed to do so. Need to clear out my garage so I can get the car in there. Still got my 1st car from over 2 years ago in there. Phhht, girls... My gf refused to get in my car earlier now the exhaust has been changed. I promised her I'd keep it standard and thus quiet.. Meeh. |
Quote:
Yeah i was out on a A road for a good hr basically testing the water and my temp light came on i was NOOOO IVE BEEN FUCKED OVER!?!!?! /cryface But when i stopped, no mayo and radiator water normal level so i then had to ask what else.. it appeared to be the thermostat. (long term it can damage the engine i read).. water not cooling down you probs know anyway. I would change it asap tbh. Mine refused at first, she even went in a huff over it LOL. :homme: no ye are filming it end of! :D :A: I need to adjust mine as its not in the centre. Im pretty anal tbh. Needs another wash and looking at the miles it had 4 weeks ago to now i wonder how i managed them. Hopefully it does me proud. It certainly puts a smile on my face. |
Met up with Alanapone today, to record some Tunnel runs with the New exhaust and Simota Induction kit on. Sounded epic, if I do say so myself.
Still got some more to go though, getting my 4 branch welded this week then will get that on. Then will see what gains I get from it all :) Only decent video I got, Skip to 0:35.. pissing about before then. |
Couple of Alans videos :D Thanks again Alan, t'was a laugh today.
Deffinatly need to do some Night runs, hopefully with more people! Edit: Thats not a crack in the windscreen either, its tape residue. |
looks like a minter :y:
|
Also, couple of better pictures of the OMP Exhaust. Its sounding much better now that its bedded itself in a tad. Had a cheeky late night blast earlier, had a few pops, bangs and some Flames :D Got a bit more raspy at the higher end of the rev range too. Sounds unreal with the windows down!
Excuse the Ghetto spec exhaust hanger too, need to bend the other hanger slightly so I can make the backbox sit higher in the recess nicely..And so I can get the other Rubber on. ![]() ![]() Can see clearly in this picture, although its not as bad as it seems in this pic.. but Ideally it needs to go up another 30mm for it to sit nicely. ![]() |
Now rocking 2 white & 2 green VTS wheels. Ghetto spec and tings.
Ordering springs next week, will be lowering it 40mm, no more. Then its just on to tidying things up, replacing the grill as its peppered with stone chips and missing the chevrons etc. A friend is Detailing it for me, once the weather is kinder to us..and once I've got my arse in gear changing that wing. R.I.P Old Saxo, which is due to go to the scrap yard tomorrow..If I can be arsed getting the petrol out of it anyway New vs Old. Edit* Also note my Peado of a mate being a fat dick in the passenger seat. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Cant you not undo the clamp and push it up abit?
Looks and sounds good btw. |
Nah, its a Slip on type of rear box..Slides over the centre pipe. It will go up more if I remove the Heat shield above it..Which I should have done in the 1st place, but I was being a dick and rushed.
I'll probably do it tomorrow. Pissing me off with how it sits at the minute. Cheers :D |
Went out for a spirited drive yesterday along the A54 (Buxton to Congleton)
Was a tad wet/damp but it stuck to the road suprisingly well for the conditions anyway. Also put the MK1 Rear lights from my old Saxo on, Think they look much better..not sure how, but they do. Need to get round to getting that 'VTS N'ring' sticker off the boot too, does my gooch in when I keep getting people asking about it..or sitting behind/beside me always wanting to race. ![]() Did take a couple of Video's but the sound quality was hampered by the wind unfortunatly. |
HOOOOOOOOOOONAGE :D
Love this car Dan, as I've said on Book of face before :y: you need to come to Blackpool when I'm insured and we can do piktorzzzz |
Some hoonage was done. -_-
Usually do this road on the bike when the weathers good enough, some epic crests and dips where the front goes all wobbly and light. Makes me feel like a right baller if I get them right. :D Will try and get some more pictures/video's of the same road this week..Hopefully it'll be dry, theres a couple of what I like to call 'Gran Turismo bends' on there. Cambered hairpins with armco and everything! Tripod'ing it FTW. But yeah, I'm going to Scotland next month, maybe early April to see my Mum, then I can come to Blackpool on the way back. :) |
