Which is Healthier/better???
always wondered, for someone who is training, and trying to burn fat/gain muscle mass.
to eat 3 times per day, healthy kina average meals. no snacks. or to eat 6 times per day, not so healthy, including sauces etc with meals, you know what i mean, carbonarra instead of tuna and onion pasta etc etc. which and why? |
no question about it 6 timea a day is the way to go, as you need to drip feed protein throughout the day to repair muscle tissue broken down by your workouts!

Calories are also very important as its the excess enrgy which builds mass, otherwise your body will break down muscle in order to create energy.

aye, but thats 6 unhealthy meals, versus 3 times healthy meals, bearing in mind fat loss is a big target.
3 x meals would be half daily fat allowance and around 2-300 calories more than "needed" 6x meals would be double daily fat allowance, and double daily calorie "allowance". calories are all good for building muscle/energy mate, but not if its shite calories. thats my main target for this question. better to eat 6 shitey meals, or 3 really good ones???? i eat 7 times per day right now, but past 4 weeks, my sleep has been, 2 hours, then 3 hours each day so a total of 5, and 12 hours apart, so im not expecting to grow right now. but interested in people with experience/knowledge behind which and why. |
Thats where you are wrong, bodybuilders and powerlifters will eat any food never mind how bad it is just to consume "easy" calories, whilst on a bulking phase that is. Then and only then should you try to adapt to healthier food when you are happy with your mass, and start to "cut".
Trust me ive been doing this for 3 years and have seen great results. |

did you even read the first post. it says building muscle mass, dropping fat. that is not a bulking diet hence the question. i know exactly how to bulk, im 98kg 5'10 and about 18% BF so i can throw weight on like nobodys business. eating 7000 calories a day, with very little protien, and shitey carbs, and saturated fat, you are not going to gain muscle mass, never mind the "easy calories" you are talking about. if its no got protien in it, or decent carbs, they wont eat it, not if they are eating and feeding properly. Bulking is not about gaining "weight" its about building muscle mass, and taking that extra bit of fat with it, on the understanding that you can Cut it back, without dropping any of the gained muscle. Im asking in the sense of the questions what is healthier. to eat 3 healthy meals per day, or to eat 6 shitty meals per day. if you cant answer that question, without a reasonable explanation as to why, then its probably best not to reply again. |
Dude think about the questions you are asking and then think about logic.
You want to build muscle = more calories than needed You also want to cut fat = less calories than needed Answer = it cannot be done, unless you are willing to spend hundreds and thousands of pounds on research and off the market supplements. |
offcourse it can you fucking nugget. its not all about calories, not all calories are the same ya rocket.
want to build muscle mass. more GOOD calories than need. i.e protien, the correct carbs at the right times. want to burn fat- less SHITE caloreis than needed. low sat fats, no carbs late on etc etc. a weights routine followed by 20 mins HIIT will build muscle mass, and burn fat at the same time. im not a fucking monkey who doesnt know about training, been doing it on and off since i was 14 ya plonker. Im not asking this question for me, am asking for people with knowledge on the subjct ie, Dizzy, Dusher, Dave E30 mcguire etc etc. to give their opinion of it. you obviously know fuck all about this. so fuck off out of this thread and post yer shite somewhere else ya nugget. |

Post some pictures of yourself at 91kg with 11% bf who has done bulking by eating processed foods and I will eat my hat and throw all the knowledge I have gained over the years out the window.

3 meals a day is fine. You dont need to eat every 2 hours or whatever it is that has become the normal bodybuilding BS. The main reason for eating 3 meals and 3 snacks a day is the pure fact that if you need 4500 calories a day to grow - eating a meal with 1500 clean calories in it can be bloody difficult!
Most bodybuilders or athletes in general will eat 4-7 times a day. Personally I have 4/5 feedings a day because I cant eat big meals, but I dont cry if I miss a meal - my body wont go catabolic and shed 2lb of muscle just because I missed a feeding. Its only when dieting, and you are on a really low calorie/carb diet that you need to be watchful over meal timings and frequency. The way our human digestive system was meant to work was to wake up, walk to find water, graze on nuts and berries throughout the day whilst out hunting. Then after an intense hour of sprinting, fighting, clubbing and dragging our catch we would eat a big meal before winding down and then going to bed. Strictly speaking then, We are at our most efficient when eating only one big meal a day after training, and having a handful of nuts here and a handful of berries there throughout the day. This approach works too - check out the warrior diet. Its possible to pack on serious amounts of lean muscle through eating just one huge meal a day post training. But for most people, eating carbs only in the morning every day, then also in the afternoon but only post training is the way to go for staying lean whilst having the calories to grow. Our bodies respond well to any change in circumstances, theres no need to be anal about food so long as you are getting everything you need in that post training window. |

Meal frequency is ballocks, doesn't affect your metabolism to any legible extent. One thing Ben is right about is that this type of information is plastered all over the internet. I was recommended to use Scooby's website (from Sax-p) to understand the basics of body building, so this is currently regarded as my bible. So far my results are great, and I have learned a lot through him. However Scooby also does mention many smaller meals throughout the day rather than less frequent larger meals. This is probably the first time I have heard/read this type of advice as rubbish. |

I don't give a sh*t if it's plastered everywhere by a bunch of spastick window lickers, just because it's common "knowledge" does it make it correct. Majority of people think you can turn fat into muscle, and that muscle turns into fat, does that make it scientifically correct? No! So much broscience and bullsh*t flying around by uneducated retards. If you hit your macros, it doesnt matter when you eat. Look into intermittent fasting, some guys doing that that look better than anyone on this board without a doubt, they're eating in small windows, bigger meals.. LOL @ Scooby being your bible. one o my mates is a PT, got his own business now, and is a WABBA trainer (watever the fuck that is) but i thought i would ask the question on here, to see the difference in opinions, didnt realise i was guna get a bell teach me how to suck eggs on the first page. |
