106 > saxo > 106 project thread

im new at this so dont mock me

for the past 18month or so i've been working on a project or two, taken a few pics from how it started to where i am now.

as follows..

i bought a rolling shell, a 1.1 106 reg'd 1996 which had covered just 46k was clean as flip !

i then got bored of the series one image and started changing a few parts

i decided to smooth everything..

engine bay started to look dull and decided i wanted to be different

engine wise i decided on a vtr

then shortly after got bored and changed my mind again

at this point i had lack of funds and alot of stupidity and swapped my unfinished project for a saxo with a friend he painted it black as followed then scrapped it !

[/img]
i got the saxo and instantly started the strip down because it was a chav machine

i started by slamming the cow

and a few other little things

it needed alsorts so bought a doner car once finished it took a beating

chrisbuckton 14th September 2012 21:14

smoothed out fogs

at this point i thought it was in a position to go through an mot and i could get it out and turn some heads, but with it being a conversion i had the fan wired to a separate switch which the mot tester forgot and decided to let the engine boil with the results being..

which lead to another engine

shortly later i was bored again with its exterior image and done something different

low enough ?

i then decided i needed the rear end smoothing abit and everyone knows smoothing a saxo boot is ugly as flip so mixed it up a little with abit of custom

jayline 14th September 2012 21:15

i have to say i liked the 106 when it was black and purple and the end result of the saxo! how comes you put a 106 boot on it? was it alot of work to do?

Bedford126 14th September 2012 21:32

I do like the 106 boot better than the saxo boot. Hell of a lot of work with the back panel just for looks though.

consvts 14th September 2012 22:23

any idea what the colour code the purple was ya used in the engine bay i like it ha

elkoi 14th September 2012 22:24

elkoi 15th September 2012 10:23

What did your MOT tester do when he killed your engine?

rich112 15th September 2012 10:42

Some great work there mate. I would of gone crazy with that MOT tester, but then again why did you not have the fan wired on with the temp sensor?

as long as i keep an eye on the temperature its fine, i just done a quick job for mot, mainly because it gives me control and lets this happen..

nah mate that would be cheating ;)

chrisbuckton 25th November 2012 17:11

about time i updated this, out of sheer bordem i wanted a colour change..

chose matt black exterior with the engine bay smoothed and tucked on wiring and relocating everything else

only bit that needed welding

paintwork is still unfinished but work has started on rebuilding my 2nd engine which the mot tester killed

will update as progress is made..

stevie_m 25th November 2012 19:29

Like the look of the 106 boot lid.

The 106 was looking sweet.

chrisbuckton 25th November 2012 22:01

I do regret getting rid of it mind

Tom5190 25th November 2012 22:32

Saxo will be alot better when its done! Roll on christmas matey

Jay_ 25th November 2012 22:50

106 boot doesn't look to sit quite right? :S

I really like it though :y:

Tom5190 25th November 2012 22:56

Think them photos were from a trial fit matey

chrisbuckton 26th November 2012 00:23

i know tom, need your help though nothing gets done ! the 106 boot wasn't clasped and things where just in place as a taster all will be done soon enough though

samclose 26th November 2012 02:08

How hard is it to fit the 106 boot lid really like the look of it

chrisbuckton 26th November 2012 13:52

flick up abit to page 1 and theirs a piece that needs welding in because the light surrounds are a different shape, been an armature I managed it so its capable

Brettles1986 26th November 2012 14:03

I envy all you people who can just decide to change something such as the colour and just set about doing it.

I have to think can I afford it, who's going to do it etc.

Great thread. Love the 106 boot!! I always preferred the look of the boot on 106's, might nick your idea ;)

Jealous of your work space! I need a unit like that!

Keep up the good work and the momentum of the work :D
