The Road So Far on my Black, Track, jp4 itb'ed saxo!!!(custom cages roll cage fitted pics on p2)!

The Road So Far...

Right then... Beanie & Moo have been on at me to start a progress thread so here we go... ( apologies on the lack of pictures to start with, my old phone that had all the good pictures of the car in the early years on it went kaputt and am just waiting on rescuing the pics but I'm sure you've all seen a standard Saxo before )

In the beginning.... June 2010
I bought my second and current Saxo vtr after flipping a corsa c in april 2009, 1 month after having a licence lol and crashing my first vtr also in 2009 lol :s*
I'm an enthusiastic driver lol. I then spent just under a year driving a work van around saving up for another Saxo.

My vtr is black and was completely standard when I bought it.
Once I had it home a few days, I went out and got a new radio, sub and amp and fitted it all the same day. The car then stayed like that for about 2 months until the end of august when I set about fitting some -40mm spax springs and dropping the back end to match.
Also having my manifold fall off going over Clifton flyover earlier in the mounth, I set about replacing the whole exhaust system...
4-1 raceland manifold
De cat supersprint centre section
3" inwardly rolled piper back box
Also I debaged the front bonnet grill and blacked the head lights.

Gary2707 26th February 2013 19:23

Then....

Then....
In march 2011I decided I was going to try and build a show car ready for fcs 2011 also my first year there.
I had the seats relined in tan/cream leather
Suede roof lining
Black 106 abc posts
Componat speakers built into the door cards
Smoothed out front number plate
Smooth jets from bonnet and fitted in wipers
Smoothed aerial
Debaged tailgate
De locked and smoothed plinth and doors
Coulor coded side strips
Re textured bumpers
I unfortunately ran over fcs and ended up taking a filler car to the show, you may have seen it lol.
After the show, the car got it's planned paint job and I also bought some shelby cal 500s. It took me a further month to get round to getting them fitted lol.

Gary2707 26th February 2013 19:23

Then...

Then...
I had a right piss around with fitting a whole new rear axel in one night before I had to drive to Kent on holiday with gf's family. During august I had also bought a gaz coil over set for the car rear shock got fitted with the new axel but the front had to wait until September. That was fun month ( bit of sarcasm there) I had the front part of the gaz kit fitted by a local garage as I was so busy at work unfortunately this did not pan out well they really messed up the job read following thread http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho....php?t=398104*
As you will have read in that thread I did after a couple of month or so finally get the car back on it's wheels.

I also bought my self some nice bride fixed bucket seats but these did not get fitted until January.

Ready for winter... I repainted my vtr wheels in gun metal grey to use as winter wheels.

Gary2707 26th February 2013 19:24

Then...

Then...
The involvement of the beanie and the moo!
During all cars past mods I always had the plan to get a 16v in and eventually use the car for track days as my real love is to drive the car as fast as possible lol as i said enthusiastic.
I had also fell in love with beanie moos Saxo clean bay creation.

So I started to gut the car and contacted Chris & moo to sort me out with nice new looms to clean up the cars looks.

I also saved a massive amount of money and spoke to Chris about helping me build my new engine. As you may or may not know every single job to this point I have had to do was my very first time at that particular job and i had to teach my self or use the forum to learn things but for the engine i knew I'd need experts to help. They have now become good friends :)

Gary2707 26th February 2013 19:26

Then....

The engine So Far...
Went down to beanie & moos to get a nice engine built up...

"Don't know what! He's doing behind there" lol

You can't see in the pic but there's two engines in the back there so my van was a triple engined van for 1n1/2hr trip back to Nottingham lol
The engine had to go on pause there as I now had to build the car to put it in.
The spec So Far...
TU5 JP4 engine converted for a Saxo
Gas flowing head
Newman Ph4 cams
Wossner high compression pistons
PEC forged rods
Arp bolts
To be added
AT power itbs
Custom inlet mani
Custom exhaust mani
Emerald k6 ecu
The rest TBC.

It makes all my hard work feel worth it :)

Can't take credit for that welding it was all Chris all I did was hold bits in place and hit things with a lump hammer, Chris called me Thor for a while after that lol

Gary2707 10th March 2013 10:25

Update... One week working at beanisport

Hi guys, right iv spent the last week down at chris's garge (beaniesport) helping him to fit my new custom cages multipoint roll cage & new non sun roof, roof skin....

First we had to remove the old roof skin...

Then we started to measure up for the main hoop and the A pillar bars and put rear buckets in place...

We then began to build up the front section...

Then it was joined to the main hoop...

Next it was front bar, door bars, main rear cross & harness bars...

Time for the dash bar, main v, mounting plates & join the cage to the car...

New roof put in place then rolled out side for pic's :)

1x roll cage DONE!!!
Many thanks to Chris for his help, welding and letting me help to do the work.
I had a great time down at beaniesport :)
The car is now back home in Nottingham

Gary2707 10th March 2013 13:43

Very small update...

Have just given the cage a quick prime to stop any rust

It will get all cleaned off when properly painted :)

tom_vts16v 10th March 2013 14:16

Beaniemoo 10th March 2013 19:34

Woo! Cracking fun doing the car this week, massive thanks for the opportunity to do it! Can't wait to see it progress and with a little luck pop back every now and then.

AlexFocusST 10th March 2013 19:59

Wow!
I must say Beaniesport seem to be taking off very fast!
Full fitment of a roll cage in a week...:clapping:

Will be keeping an eye on this thread , got much potential!

Gary2707 14th March 2013 00:14

Thanks a lot for your posts guys hopefully can get some more progress on this at the weekend :y:

Gary2707 17th March 2013 14:26

Little update from yesterday

Unfortunately with one thing and another I didn't get as much work done as I'd've liked yesterday but I did manage to modify (cut up!! Lol!!) the dash so that it fits in with the roll cage.

I think I'm gonna have fun trying to get my clocks in place lol...

Hopefully I'll be getting a stack dash so will be able to try and build something custom to get it to fit.

Here's what I took off to get it in...

Now to get the dash wrapped in faux suede ( I don't like flocking )
And iv got to see if my heater matrix fits in place.

To be continued..... ;)

Beaniemoo 18th March 2013 07:03

Looks like you had fun fitting your dash back in!
Did you leave the threads that mount it to the bulkhead?
Need to do some thinking about mounting the dials then.
Looking sharp though, it's nice to see progress

Jeeeeez. When I picked up my parts from you, and you said you had plans, never immagined this.
Looks beautiful. I take it, it's just going to be for pure track use, it won't clear all the speed lumps near you.
:D Look forward to more progress.
