I find that getting a life normally helps with these situations. Whenever I get the urge to want fake pops and bangs I think to myself
"No that would make you look like a cunt"
Normally works.

MartinObviously 2nd March 2013 00:25

Uhhhhh, if it's wired directly to the coil pack as it should, then you're getting a misfire.

Sooooooo you're just not hearing it it's down to your exhaust.

If you got a cat, you're gonna hear nothing unless you turn up the fuel and ruin the engine.

Tom5190 2nd March 2013 00:34

Whats with the latest craze of buying a limiter to get noise :s THATS NOT WHAT THEY ARE MENT FOR FFS!

m4tt274 2nd March 2013 00:44

you guys are so boring. the pops and bangs of a spark cut are fun!
Normally a decat helps result.
As does a warm exhaust. :)

James93 2nd March 2013 01:41

Saxsport 3" and decat, and those who are being dicks about it, live a little :homme:

I'll go do some work on an engine I have in the garage tomorrow, I'll show you a rev limiter on a proper engine ;) (here's hoping the limiter still works!)

You should just install a 16V engine, they naturally pop on overrun, especially at about 1700rpm and changing gear at high revs.

James93 2nd March 2013 01:53

Just discovered when rolling driving in 4th and hittint the button it certainly does bang but not when sitting still unfortunatly

So you're unable to impress the birds at mcdonalds car park? :P

Ali123 2nd March 2013 02:12

you have to tap the throttle, let it bounce of the limiter for a couple of secs then keep tapping it

m4tt274 2nd March 2013 02:55

I have an RX7 that barks 3foot flames out the back every time i let it off boost, i can say honestly that the fuel efficient fun vtr popping away is good fun!! Its just a spark cut, not a flamer kit ;)

That the oil igniting ;)?

m4tt274 2nd March 2013 03:46

pahaha, pal, dont even spoil my night. . . . probably. :')

They do oil by design though, the reason they bang their tits off is their map.
Because they fire on every rotation, and run up to near 9K they run rich as hell to stop them melting the cat. Mazda even put an 'air pump' in simply to pump air into the exhaust lol On a standard map they cut the spark at 9k and let an impressive fart out the back.

James93 2nd March 2013 03:55

Bedford - If youve got nothing decent to say then fuck off.

Sadly not, proper choked up about it tbh ;)

Quick 2nd March 2013 09:31

If you just want a pop - get a packet of crisps - eat them - inflate - then burst

This should satify your pop requirement!

josh11490 2nd March 2013 13:37

If you got one with launch control set that to around 3k revs then rev upto about 5k, come off gas and press button.
That should make it bangs.... Mine does.

Prickle 2nd March 2013 13:41

My 106 GTI has an air pump.

I have racecar now?

In fact, here's a standard 16V. I'm tapping the throttle.

It's all in the set up, mines soft cut at 2500 hard at 3500 retard to 1degree and cut fuel and spark 9 events from 15 gives a very clean 3500 rpm launch..

They aren't pops lol.

Viper 3rd March 2013 08:55

Why would launch control make pops and bangs? Are you thinking of anti lag? :S

noob or trollin?

It cuts the spark so the revs stay at eg 3k whilst your right foot is buried.

Cut spark + full throttle + hot exhaust = boom.

Viper 3rd March 2013 09:05

Apparently noob. I thought it just held the revs at a certain point, didn't know it did it by effectively cutting out.

Either way I would rather have anti lag.

Not always, and the exhaust doesn't have to be hot. the excess fuel (now sitting in the exhaust due to the spark cut) which provides the pops is primarily ignited by flames coming past the valves.

Proper rev limiters cut the fuel or retard the timing. cutting the fuel is hard cut and retarding is soft cut.

I made a soft cut for my 1.5D once, hilarious. :P

Yes, you are noob. anti lag is for turbo charged cars :D not spaxos.

If you have an electronic TB, you could set it up to hold revs lower through the ECU. but I don't think it would be as effective.

Why would I go to McDonalds to rev my car?

If I did want to be part, why would I take a lowered car which is OEM.

noob :homme:

Clearly, you don't rate my car as being able to pop, you must be part of their crue, only official McDonalds car park members can give ratings out.

m4tt274 3rd March 2013 16:54

aahhhhh you got me.
