Hi, could anyone please tell me what else i need to swap the vtr engine with a vts engine, I have the VTS engine and E.C.U
Do i need the vts gearbox as well? what bout the wiring loom? |
i think u mite neeed the gear box as they r different. and u will need the loom as well
|
U can attach the VTR gearbox to the VTS engine, i think it also has shorter gears so u can have quicker accelaration, not sure tho, u may have 2 ask some1 who has done this, but i think this is right...
|
yeah any post 92 box will fit any tu engine the gears are all different but keep ur vtr box as it is much shorter cut resulting is some wicked accel times, only draw back is that u will use abit of fuel crusing at 110mph but drop it to 80-90mph and it should be cool, thats only on long journeys. hear are a list of the gear ratios i found
954 cc and 1124 cc 1st===3.417:1 2nd===1.180:1 3rd===1.276:1 4th===1.026:1 5th===0.767:1 rev===2.500:1 final drive===4.286:1 1360 cc 1st===3.636:1 2nd===1.950:1 3rd===1.276:1 4th===1.026:1 5th===0.767:1 rev===2.500:1 final drive===3.765:1 1587 cc (vtr) 1st===3.417:1 2nd===1.810:1 3rd===1.276:1 4th===1.026:1 5th===0.767:1 rev===2.500:1 final drive===3.765:1 1587 cc (vts) 1st===3.417:1 2nd===1.950:1 3rd===1.360:1 4th===1.050:1 5th===0.850:1 rev===2.500:1 final drive===3.938:1 |
stick the 1.1 box on!
|
the vtr box is longer and will result in slower acceleration times and much higher top end speeds, for example on the limiter in 5th on the vts box is around 140 but on the limiter in 5th on the vtr box is 163 mph as has been proved.
|
yeah u can see this from the above,id stick with the 1.1 box as it has the same 5th as the vtr but much shorter gears leading to it
|
1.1 box wouldnt handle the power i dont think,

depends which one your doing and try searching "VTS CONVERSION" |
easy to do mate, vts engine ecu loom as said above single plug to single is the easiest bet. any gearbox try get yourself a 1.4xsi or vts box ;) whilst the engine is off the car fit a new cam belt and clutch save having to do it in the future
|
im looking to do the same, ive a 1.4 westcoast. if i get a vts engine will i hav to do much more???
|
i want to put a vts engine into my vtr, isit an easy transfer? do you have to go out and buy brackets to fit the vts engine into the vtr or ddo the vtr brackets mount to the vts engine? cause i know ill have to but the whole engine with the eingine loom but will i have to get some brackets made aswell?
thanks, ryan:y: |

seriously!! fucking right lol so all i need is an engine wiring loom and it will plug straight into the vtr clocks right??
thanks |
iv done a vts convertion on my vtr 52 plate. my set up is and you will need this to fit : vts engine doesnt matter what year, a vtr gearbox beter 0-60 mine 6.4 sec , and a 3 plug ecu and loom and key and imobiliser unit you need them for it to start unless you have got an unlocked ecu. that is what i needed for my mk2 52 plate with a 02 plate vts lump. now for the expensis . engine 38000miles: £450 wiring loom: £20 ecu, key, imobiliser: £150 . my main isues have bin the wiring and plug because the plug that connects to the dash wich is the round one by the pasenger side headlight didnt fit with a single plug ecu so i had to change the loom and that ment changine the ecu to ! so i do have a single plug vts ecu and imobiliser and key all you need is an engine. give us a shout if you need anythin more good luck

Vtr box has a smaller FD ratio hence a larger top speed, you want a larger FD ratio for quicker acceleration!!
I've got a westcoast/vtr box on mine and it's made to power delivery of the vts engine aweful, wouldn't recommend it to anyone! |

hey im new to here
:mobile: ive got a vts engine with a 3 plug ecu, but i think my vtr is a single plug ecu, so obv ill have to buy a single plug ecu and loom, rite? my question is will the new single plug ecu just work with the vts engine i have or do i have to get it unlocked?
cheerz rick |
youll need an unlocked ecu
and possibly new fuel injectors deffo an injector loom and a lot of sensors |
thanks, fuck it ill jst get and engine with a single plug ecu

"prior preparation prevents a piss poor performance" should just sell the lot as a package then buy a single plug setup. :y: |

Hi I got a saxo vtr and I want to no how easy is it to fit
|
And do I need the wiring loom for the vts
|
Hi I have a 2000 vts with single plug ecu and was looking to putting engine in my vtr shell but that's a 2001 on 3 pin ecu so I need to find either single plug vtr shell or 3 pin vts is this correct?
|
If its a 1.1 and you put a 1.6 enigine in without changing the gearbox, you will run into problems. but if its a VTR you might just ge away with it :D
Gearbox Chage or not 1.1 to 1.6 CHANGE 1.4 to 1.6 CHANGE or Service More 1.6 8v to 1.6 16v Service atleast twice a year ( If you drive fast !) |

Diesel vtr you are so wrong
Loads of people run 1.1 boxes on vts its not a huge issue |
Some people manage to get away with it. I had a 1.1 gearbox on my vtr but after 8 months it gave up on life, cant say i thrash it that often either.
It could have been down to an already worn box but it seemed quite and smooth when i first fitted it :fcuk: |
Ive seen guys trackday 16vs with 1.1 boxes and been fine for ages
|
Vtr/s
Now then I'm looking at puting a vts engine out of a 52 plate into an r reg vtr can this be done easy ?? Cheers phil
